Quick Facts About Black Dog Park
Black Dog Park has several strengths that make it a popular destination for fishing and boating. Firstly, it is praised for having one of the best ramps on Skiatook Lake. This means that it offers easy access and convenience for boaters who want to launch their boats. Additionally, it is a great place to fish, especially for those who do not have access to a boat. The availability of docks and two ramps further enhances the fishing experience.
One of the notable strengths of Black Dog Park is the ample parking space available. This is important for visitors, as it ensures that they can easily find a place to park their vehicles. The presence of a good dock also adds to the convenience for both boaters and fishermen.
The comment about the park being near empty on a Monday during the school year highlights the park's ability to offer a peaceful and less crowded environment. This can be seen as a strength for those who prefer a quieter and more serene fishing experience.
However, there are also some weaknesses mentioned in the comments. One major concern is the presence of chiggers, spiders, and snakes. This could potentially deter visitors who are not comfortable being in an environment with a high prevalence of these creatures. The comment also mentions the presence of hornets, which can be bothersome and pose a risk for people who are allergic to their stings.
Another weakness mentioned is the lack of off-shore fishing spots. Visitors express a desire for a trail system that would allow them to explore and find better fishing spots. This suggests that there is room for improvement in providing more options for fishermen to choose from.
The comment about the Oklahoma weather causing a premature end to a fishing day highlights a weakness that is beyond the control of the park. It serves as a reminder that weather conditions can impact outdoor activities, and visitors need to be prepared for unforeseen changes.
On the positive side, one of the comments praises Black Dog Park for its clean restroom facilities. This is an essential amenity for visitors, as it enhances their overall experience and comfort during their time at the park.
The park's accessibility is also mentioned as a strength. Being easily accessible makes it more convenient for people to visit and enjoy the facilities. Additionally, the comment about the lake being clear and calm further adds to the appeal of Black Dog Park.
In summary, Black Dog Park has several strengths such as its convenient ramp and dock facilities, ample parking, and accessibility. It is also praised for its cleanliness and peaceful atmosphere. However, there are weaknesses to consider, such as the presence of chiggers, spiders, and snakes, the lack of off-shore fishing spots, and the unpredictable Oklahoma weather. These weaknesses highlight areas where the park can improve to enhance the overall experience for visitors.

That is one of the best ramps on Skiatook lake and a great place to fish if you're not using a boat. There's plenty of parking, a good dock and two ramps
This place was near empty on a Monday during the school year which is nice. I don’t recommend trying to fish off shore away from the rocks and docks around here unless your wearing pants and boots. Lots of chiggers, spiders, and snakes. I encountered all 3 in one visit. Also could hear a hornets nest nearby and saw several of those bad buggies fly around me. Cost 5 dolla to park and then Oklahoma weather happens and had to call the day short, but oh well, right? It would be nice to have some sort of trail system that would allow of people to walk any particular direction around the lake and find better off shore fishing spots. That would make people want to return and pay 5 more dolla to park there. The real answer is I need to get a boat and be out on the water. It is on the to do list…
Great place to launch a boat or fish from the docks/shore. There are 3 docks and 2 launch ramps. They hold fishing tournaments here often and have a nice newer dock and bathrooms. The cove on the southwest side is great too catch crappie/bass and tree limbs. Free parking and access.
Just visited looking for new places to fish, clean, has clean restroom facility, boat ramps are protected pretty well from the south and east winds, Ramps open to the west and north. Lots of standing timber, beautiful clear water and good depths for all season fishing. Plenty of parking space for boaters as well as bank fisherman. This will start being my new place to crappie and catfish. Looking forward to it.
