Quick Facts About Capella Nail Bar
Capella Nail Bar has both strengths and weaknesses based on the comments provided.
One of the key strengths mentioned is the kindness, helpfulness, and honesty of the staff. Customers appreciate that the nail technicians are friendly and knowledgeable about styles and designs. The technicians at Capella Nail Bar take their time and listen to their customers' preferences, ensuring a personalized and satisfactory service. The salon is also noted for its cleanliness and organization, with new tools and fresh towels used for each pedicure. The pedicure bowls are lined with plastic, and the chairs are plush and offer massages, enhancing the overall comfort and relaxation for customers. The variety of snacks and beverages available for customers to choose from is also appreciated.
Another strength is the atmosphere and experience of the salon. Customers mention that their worries melt away when they visit Capella Nail Bar, and they find the experience to be very relaxing. The salon is described as clean and beautiful, creating a pleasant ambiance for customers. Additionally, the salon is commended for its wide range of colors to choose from, allowing customers to find the perfect shade for their nails.
However, there are also weaknesses mentioned in the comments. One customer had a negative experience with their nails lifting and chipping only a week after their appointment. The customer expressed disappointment and felt that their concerns were not adequately addressed when they complained at the salon. Another customer had a similar experience, with their nails not matching and an unexpected price increase for a nail color change. These negative experiences indicate a lack of attention to detail and quality control at Capella Nail Bar.
Furthermore, some customers mentioned the presence of junior nail technicians who may not prioritize the end result of the service. This suggests that the salon may not have consistent quality across all technicians, potentially leading to inconsistent experiences for customers.
There are also some complaints about pricing and up-charging practices at the salon. Some customers felt that they were charged extra for services that should have been included, such as gel polish on toes in addition to a regular pedicure. Others mentioned that they were charged for a "long shape" despite their nails not being long, which they considered an unfair up-charge practice. These pricing issues may make customers hesitant to return to Capella Nail Bar or lead to dissatisfaction with the overall value for money.
Overall, Capella Nail Bar has its strengths in terms of friendly staff, cleanliness, variety of colors, and a pleasant atmosphere. However, they also have weaknesses in terms of inconsistent quality, lack of attention to detail, and potentially problematic pricing practices. These weaknesses may need to be addressed in order to improve customer satisfaction and loyalty.
Best TL Reviews
This nail salon is fairly new, having opened up in January. I’ve been a few times and each time they are kind, helpful, and honest about color selections. They also have a wide variety of snacks and beverages for you to choose from. I usually get dip powder manicure and a deluxe pedicure that involves a foot massage, sugar scrub of my choice and more. It’s very relaxing and your worries just melt away! They also don’t insult you as a way to up charge like some places do. No insulting comments about hairy legs or lips at this place. I love the atmosphere and experience coming here.

I received a call from Vickie, who apologized profusely and offered to do my nails for free. I accepted and I was pleased with her workmanship , and the best thing was she never asked me to remove or update my review. I am updating this review, because I felt it was the right thing to do and she tried to make things right. I’m changing my rating from a 1 star rating to a 3 star rating, because I still feel they should have addressed my concerns on the spot, but I feel Vickie did the best she could.
*UPDATE* 4/17/2022
So it’s been a week and a half since my original post and things have gone from bad to worse. My nails are now lifting and chipping around the sides. I’m incredibly disappointed.
The funny thing is, I see where Capella Nail Bar responded to my original review, yet when I was in the salon, complaining about the work, no one made any attempt to help me or address my concerns. The last two pics, I took today, 4/17, one week after my apt.
I’ve been here three times since they opened, and this last time (4/6/2022) was the worst. The other two times were okay, not great, not terrible, but okay.
First off, I always schedule an appointment, and I’m never a walk-in. This time I went and a nail technician started doing my nails. She was moving fairly quickly and used a technique I wasn’t used to, which was polishing all the nails and then dipping them one after another, I was used to polish one nail dip one nail. Nevertheless, no big deal I just thought it was a new technique, until such time when I asked her why was she speeding through doing my nails and asked her to take her time. In the middle of my manicure she gets up and another male technician comes to finish my nails. I asked him why did they switch he says because she had an appointment, and I said, as did I. He continues to finish my nails and I’m starting to notice the imperfections. Neither nail tech was very detailed and they were very sloppy. I complained but was told it was the color I selected.
Moral of the story is, know that they have some very junior nail techs and don’t care about the end product, other than getting as many people in and out of their chairs as possible.
Cleanest, most organized nail salon I've visited in a long time. Technicians are friendly, knowledgeable about styles and designs, gracious when receiving tips. They take their time and listen while completing services. They offer snacks and sweets, wine, champagne, water. The pedicure bowls are lined with plastic and the chairs are plush and offer massages. New tools opened and fresh towels are used for each pedicure. The manicure tables are tidy. The chairs aren't that comfortable but, eh. So many colors to choose from! You're greeted as soon as you enter and asked to sign in. Really enjoy patronizing this place.
What a fabulous nail salon! I had an impromptu visit at Capella Nail Salon and it was everything! Very clean, and they served wine and snacks. Most importantly the service provided exceeded my expectations. I will be there routinely every 2-3 weeks. I’ve visited too many nail salons looking for great nails, great service and clean sanitary space. Capella is the spot!!
I highly recommend Capella Nail Bar. I’ve been going to the salon for a few months now. I’m very picky about my nails and they made me proud. Kenny and Tammy are my Favs but I’ve heard great things about all the technicians. Tammy takes her time with my design and does everything by hand. She rocks! The salon is beautiful and always clean. They are officially my new nail salon. Try them out if you’re in the Bowie area :-)
I went to this salon with high hopes but they were soon dashed after getting a fill in. Let me be clear when I say this, I only got a fill and the manager is the one that initially did the work. Not even a full week passed and my several of my nails felt weak. I really regret going to this salon. You really get what you pay for. My original set were done with the highest quality materials and I should have just taken the 30 minute drive to have them done properly. Not only did the manager do a subpar job, my nails lifted on 3 fingers and had to be redone. The alternate tech did her best with the materials she had but now if I look at my nails underneath they don’t match. What’s worse is, I asked for a nail color change and got quoted 30$ and when she was done the price changed to 50$!! So I’m in the hole for 140$ because I tipped the new tech and the manager for them to basically ruin a beautiful work of art. Don’t go to this salon if you’re looking for quality.
While the service was decent, still doesn’t justify the up-charging system they have.
Was charged $5 for gel removal, no issue there. It’s a normalized practice now.
$20 for gel polish on Toes in addition to the normal price of pedicure.
Decided to treat myself to a foot massage which I had to remind John halfway through that it was a “Foot” massage not a leg massage.
(John also forgot to cut my cuticles as I asked 2 times and had no energy to ask again. )
Biggest pet peeve is the “Long Shape”
up-charge. These are my natural nails and by far not a long shape at all, not even a half inch. Craziest part, they didn’t up-charge the Gel for my fill-in?
I still tipped 20% prior to walking back in and asking for a categorized receipt.
Nice salon, cute inside, pedicure area is quiet and to itself in a separate area which is really nice, they offer everybody drinks which is also great. They have the most color selection I’ve ever seen at a nail salon. Angela is the best nail designer there! I will follow her anywhere she goes.
