Quick Facts About Devonshire Arms
The Devonshire Arms appears to have several strengths based on the comments provided. Firstly, the staff are consistently described as friendly and welcoming, which creates a positive atmosphere for visitors. The fact that the pub is dog-friendly is also mentioned as a positive aspect, as this allows customers to bring their pets along and adds to the welcoming atmosphere.
Another strength mentioned is the quality of the beer. Both draught Bass and Titanic Plum Porter are specifically highlighted as being enjoyable and tasty. This implies that the pub takes care in selecting and maintaining their beer options, which is likely to be appealing to beer enthusiasts.
The pub's atmosphere is also seen as a positive aspect. Comments mention that it has a cozy, quaint, and "proper pub" atmosphere, which adds to the overall enjoyment of the experience. This suggests that the pub has a traditional and authentic feel that many customers appreciate.
Additionally, the pub's location near Burton station is mentioned as a convenience. This makes it easily accessible for visitors arriving by train and potentially attracts passing trade.
However, there are also some weaknesses mentioned in the comments. One comment gives a low rating and explains a negative experience with the landlady. The aggressiveness and rudeness exhibited towards the customers, particularly in front of their children, is viewed as appalling. This type of behavior can be highly off-putting to customers and may discourage them from returning or recommending the pub to others.
Furthermore, one comment mentions that the pub can get quite busy. While this can be seen as a positive sign of popularity, it may also be a weakness if it leads to overcrowding or difficulty finding seating.
Overall, the strengths of the Devonshire Arms are its friendly and welcoming staff, good selection of beers, cozy atmosphere, and convenient location. These factors contribute to positive experiences for many customers. However, the negative experience with the landlady and the potential overcrowding during busy times are weaknesses that need to be addressed in order to maintain a positive reputation and ensure customer satisfaction.

I've not been in the Devonshire since probably the 1990's. Big mistake. Lovely staff, atmosphere great ! I primarily went to sample the draught Bass ????. I noticed they had Titanic Plum Porter.Couldn't leave without sampling it. Yes! another really nice pint. They're dog friendly too!. That was an enjoyable hour or two. Will be back soon probably with my son as he's partial to plum porter.
We really love it in the Devonshire. Beer is great, snacks are good too and most important, the staff are very welcoming and friendly. Definitely recommend
only rating one star as i couldn’t rate 0. went to visit for a drink as new to the area with my family. as soon as we parked up somebody who stated herself as the “landlady” started aggressively telling us to move, barely even gave us chance to get a word in. was absolutely appalled as this is the first pub in the area we had visited since moving and was a horrific experience. please do not waste your time visiting this pub especially not with children!!!!!! to the landlady, you’re very rude especially when my children were clearly present!
The Devonshire Arms is a cozy, quaint little neighbourhood pub just a few minutes from Burton station. The real ale selection is adequate, and the decor typical for a community boozer. Friendly atmosphere and that just-feels-like-old-times kick make this a place to spend a nice evening. Nice staff, too. Solid option in a good real ale town.
A nice pub with real Ales, We visit here often for a catch up with friends once in a while and it never dissapoints though can get quite busy but a great "Proper Pub" atmosphere.
