Eighty Eight Chinese Restaurant has received a mix of positive and negative comments, providing insights into its strengths and weaknesses. In this analysis, we will explore these comments to evaluate the overall strengths and weaknesses of the restaurant.
Starting with the strengths, one popular aspect of Eighty Eight Chinese Restaurant is the quality of food. According to one comment, the food was described as "amazing" and "delicious." Another diner mentioned that the main meal was "lovely" and the chicken with spiced vegetables was "amazing." Multiple comments also highlighted the restaurant's great value for money, with one person mentioning that the Chinese food was "beautiful" and "very well priced." This positive feedback indicates that Eighty Eight Chinese Restaurant excels in terms of food quality and value, making it an attractive dining option.
Another strength of the restaurant is its friendly and helpful staff. Several comments praise the staff for being polite, helpful, and friendly. Additionally, one comment mentions that the restaurant is great for takeaways, with both the staff and chefs receiving positive feedback. This indicates that the restaurant provides excellent customer service, both in the dining area and for takeaways, which contributes to a positive overall experience for customers.
Moving on to the weaknesses, one recurring issue is the inconsistency in food quality. While some customers enjoyed their meals, others mentioned that the barbecued ribs were tough, the duck was not crispy, and the starters were just okay. Another comment mentions that the food has gone downhill since their last visit. This inconsistency in food quality suggests a lack of attention to detail in the kitchen, leading to mixed experiences for customers.
Another weakness mentioned in the comments is the slow service for drinks. One comment specifically mentions that the service for drinks was very slow. This indicates that there may be some issues with the restaurant's efficiency and speed of service, which can negatively impact the overall dining experience for customers.
The décor of the restaurant is also mentioned as a weakness in one comment, describing it as "very old fashioned." While this may not have a significant impact on the food and service, it could deter potential customers who prefer a more modern and updated ambiance.
Lastly, one comment raises concerns about the availability of certain menu items for takeaway. The customer was initially informed that certain items were not available, only to be called back again and told that another item was also unavailable. This lack of consistency and communication in the takeaway order process can be frustrating for customers, potentially resulting in a loss of business.
In conclusion, Eighty Eight Chinese Restaurant has several strengths, including delicious food, friendly staff, and good value for money. However, there are also areas of weakness, such as inconsistent food quality, slow service for drinks, and shortcomings in the takeaway ordering process. These weaknesses should be addressed in order to improve the overall dining experience and ensure customer satisfaction.

Had a great meal here, came with the family and food was amazing. We all had different starters and main meals and ended up sharing as it was all so delicious. staff were so friendly and helpful too. Would definitely go back and recommend.
Barbecued ribs were tough. Main meal was nothing to shout about. Wouldn't rush back, ultimately better than nothing.
On holiday and found this Chinese beautiful food very well priced and the young man who served me was so polite and helpful
A great restaurant and really good for take away, staff are friendly, cook's are wonderful.
Very old fashioned decor
Starters was just ok.
The duck wasn't crispy. But the main was lovely. Chicken with spiced vegetables. Amazing
Service for the drinks was very slow.
A little difficult to judge. The special menu is great value. The general menu is a little expensive for being out of the way. However the customer service was good and who can complain about that. Why it was so quiet is beyond me. Would recommend a cisit
Called for takeaway. Told they didn't have any prawn tiger strip starters nor any curry sauce. I changed my selection and placed my order ... Only to be called back and told they don't have any sweetcorn soup. Really! What was the point of opening up?
Ok, but food's gone downhill since last visit, plus its a bit odd to see someone standing at the reception area cracking cans of Carling?
