Quick Facts About Indian Ocean: Buffet&Grill
Indian Ocean: Buffet&Grill, based on the comments provided, has several strengths and weaknesses. The strengths include the quality of the food when it is prepared correctly, the friendly and attentive staff on some occasions, and the option for a buffet all-you-can-eat deal. On the other hand, the weaknesses include inconsistent and poor service, limited choices and lack of food availability, high prices for the buffet, and unprofessionalism from the owner.
One of the strengths mentioned is the fabulous food and excellent service experienced by one customer, making it the best Indian meal they've ever had. They were even given a complimentary bottle of wine and a special dessert, which shows generous and personalized hospitality. Another positive comment highlights the tasty and plentiful food available at the buffet, with the staff offering to cook fresh items if they had run out. Additionally, the cleanliness, reasonable prices, and friendly staff were praised in another positive review.
However, the weaknesses outweigh the strengths in the comments provided. One recurring issue is the inconsistency in food quality and availability. Several customers complained about the limited choices at the buffet, with some foods being low or empty. There were also instances of lukewarm and poorly prepared food, such as watery curry or cold naan bread. This inconsistency in food preparation and selection is a significant weakness as it affects the overall dining experience.
Another weakness is the poor service and unprofessional behavior displayed by the staff and owner. Many customers complained about slow delivery times, regardless of the number of tables occupied or the reasons provided by the restaurant. In one instance, a customer faced threatening behavior from the restaurant after they voiced their dissatisfaction with the late delivery and incomplete order. Additionally, there were multiple complaints about the lack of apology or compensation for poor service or incomplete orders. This reflects negatively on the customer service standards of Indian Ocean: Buffet&Grill.
The buffet pricing is also mentioned as a weakness, with customers stating that it is not worth the cost due to the limited food options and inconsistent availability. Some customers felt that the buffet mainly consisted of cheaper Indian food options, and they had to repeatedly inform the staff about food items that had run out. Despite customers paying for the buffet, they were not automatically offered certain items like naan bread, which should be included in the cost. This lack of attention to detail and value for money is a significant weakness for Indian Ocean: Buffet&Grill.
In conclusion, Indian Ocean: Buffet&Grill has a few strengths, such as fabulous food and excellent service on occasion. However, the weaknesses described in the comments are numerous and significant. These weaknesses include poor service, inconsistent food quality and availability at the buffet, high prices, and unprofessional behavior from the staff and owner. These comments highlight the need for improvement in various areas, including service standards, food preparation, and overall customer experience.

Been in person several times for their buffet, and they used to have a good choice, adequately filled and good food. After going in the last week, I'm sad to say it's no longer like this.
There were less choices than normal, with our server saying that they'd only just reopened but more choices would return in the next couple of weeks. However, prices have again risen - so less choices, but higher cost. Additionally, we were not offered naan bread, which is meant to be a part of the buffet cost. A lot of the foods were low or empty, or had a lot of sauce but little meat. Food was also lukewarm, not hot.
The pudding consisted of ice cream, the cake tray was empty and the staff didn't seem to care to refill it. After mentioning this on paying, the man said we should have asked - surely in a buffet they should automatically refill foods? I also found a bit of onion in the ice cream, and there was a lot of ice in the ice cream.
After being asked for our drink choices, it took them 15 minutes to bring them when the place only had another 2-3 tables with people, and no one ordering takeout or at the bar.
After mentioning our concerns to the server, we weren't offered an apology nor a discount on the food. Be wary going there for their buffet..
Simply the best Indian meal we've ever had. The food was fabulous, the service was excellent, the prices were reasonable. We were even given a complimentary bottle of wine with the bill, but perhaps that's because they knew it was my birthday - they gave me a special dessert to take home as well. The staff were lovely and it was one of the best dining out experiences ever. Highly recommended.
Delivery time was awful. Phoned twice to chase. Restaurant phoned back to say the food was on the way and told them wasn't happy as it was over 2 hours since ordered and the food was already an hour late and I would pay £22 when delivered. Arrived . Paid £22 (£4 less than the order price). 10 minutes after delivery the same person from the restaurant phoned threatening he was calling the police as full price not paid. Awful threatening behaviour. Such a shame as the food was nice.
Unfortunately since we started ordering from here the food and service has got worse and worse. Ordered a couple of currys (not a big order) at 18:40. We ordered at this time because it's a weekend and we expected it to be busy. Just Eat said the order will be delivered at 8pm. That's already an hour and 20 since the order was placed which we thought was a very long time but couldn't be bothered with the hassle of cancelling and getting a refund. Didnt arrive until 20:50 but prior to this we called to chase it up. They said it was really busy and will be 15 minutes so they hadn't even made the food at this point. When the food got here my naan bread was cold, the poppadom was soft and my curry was very watery and left a minging residue at the bottom of my plate ???? I threw most of it in the bin.
I know this restaurant can supply great food because I've had it from here before. Maybe consider hiring more staff to cope with busy periods, that way the food wouldn't be sub par and the delivery won't be ridiculosuly late. It's always the same guy who delivers here so I assume he is your only delivery driver (always friendly and apologetic when the order is late).. I don't like leaving negative reviews but this is the third time in a row the service has been very slow and the food hasn't been good. Won't be ordering from here again, shame really!
Absolutely terrible customer service. I placed a relatively small order online which arrived incomplete. I therefore phoned to report the missing item and it took over 40 minutes to be delivered on a weekday, by which time the rest of the meal was ruined. After waiting half an hour I phoned back and asked if they thought it was acceptable to still be waiting and if they would be happy with the service to which I was told "no". Asking what could be done because the meal was now cold I was simply told the rest of the order is on its way and we won t be compensating you with a discount as a gesture of good will. I was told that they didnt understand how the whole meal was ruined as only a portion of it was missing. I was shocked at this responce as we'd ordered the meal to eat as a family to celebrate a birthday, with one person not being able to eat with everyone else. I certainly won't be ordering from Indian Ocean again as my custom isn't valued and no effort was made to replace the relevant portion of order (i.e. the curry which had been
left to go cold), there was also little concern, no offer as means of an apology and a poor attitude to the length of the delay.
Really friendly staff and great food! Only complaint I'd have is that sometimes the food gets eaten too quickly and the buffet can sometimes run low on things, but that can't be helped if everyone wants the same thing. Everything other than that is perfect, love going here for the buffet
We turned up late evening on a Sunday and most customers had left yet the food was really tasty, piping hot and lots of it. We were told that if there was anything we wanted that had run out they would cook it fresh for us. The staff were lovely the place clean the price really good. Definitely going back
An average amount of choices of food. It was a buffett all you can eat deal. Definitely not worth £17.99. The food was in need of topping up constanstly. They do not watch if things have run out therefore each time we went up we were struggling to get a meal we wanted because many items had run out. We had to keep telling the cheff and staff that they have run out of each item. We then had to return to our seat whilst we waited for them to top it all up. The choices of food seemed to be all the cheaper options you can get in indian food. We then asked for a nan bread as these are made fresh as and when you want one but we never got it. I did mention it to one waiter who was very nice and apologetic and stated he would speak to staff about not checking levels of food. He then brought us a freshly made Nan bread to take home with us instead. The desserts were different flavours of cheap ice cream and a gateaux which was out in the open with no cover on it....not sure how long it had been there as only a couple of pieces left.
As we were leaving I mentioned about the lack of food to the owner (i think he was) his response was " a few of the staff are having a bad day" no apology was given from him.
What food we did have wasnt bad but we have tasted better in other indians. It might be better it you order from menu instead of the all you can eat deal. Unfortunately we wont be returning here.
