My wife and I stopped off here for lunch whilst we were visiting Liverpool. It’s an independent cafe which is nice. The shop bright and pink and of a average size. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. It was fairly busy but we got a table easy enough. At our table there was dangling decor from the ceiling that came right down in the middle of the table which was kind of in the way. There is lots to choose from on the menu and caters for most diets. We both decided to get the wheelie bin milkshake since it was a bit unusual. After tasting it we realised that, in fact, it was very usual. It was basically a bog standard nesquik strawberry milkshake in a mini wheelie bin with cream and marshmallows on top. A bit of a gimmick really. For food I decided to try Margy’s Scouse. It was my first time trying scouse. It came with homemade pickled cabbage and bread. The scouse was decent. It’s basically a beef stew with potatoes and some other veg. I can tell that it’s a reliable dish that you can’t really go wrong with. A good meal to have on a cold winter night. For me, it was quite tasty but wasn’t blown away, it’s probably not something I’d choose again. Just a bit meh. I have to say I am not usually a fan of pickled cabbage but this one was really great. The bread was just bread, nothing special. My wife got a brekky bagel which she said was nice with nothing to fault. Aside from the milkshakes, the food was relatively inexpensive. I’d say that the drinks were quite pricey, considering that it’s just cheap nesquik they use. Overall, the service was excellent, the food was good, milkshakes were average, the setting was nice but I’d be lying if I wasn’t slightly disappointed as I had high expectations based on the reviews.
Lucy in the sky offers a mixed emotion take on todays traditional coffee/brunch shop. Although very “instagrammy”, Lucy in the sky is an independent family run business, initially established in 1989.
There are many reasonably priced options on the menu, I ordered a jacket potato with cheese, beans and tuna which was really nice and tasty, unfortunately I didn’t get the famous coleslaw on the plate but i blame my self for that as I didn’t explain that i wanted the toppings as extras, or that could be an excuse to visit again. Which i will definitely do.
In summary, lovely food and welcoming attentive staff, great lunch spot.
Beautiful little independent cafe, food was lovely and the ladies running the show were equally as lovely. Definitely worth the visit if you're in Liverpool
I went here to have a breakfast lured by the good reviews on Google.
Once we got there the service was slow and not good.
So we thought the food would still be good, but no, the full English breakfast was terrible, raw egg, greesy rash browns just not good at all :(
I won’t be returning
Fabulous find for brunch! Coffee and Omelettes were awesome, even got a seat in the sunshine outside. Staff very helpful and friendly. Would thoroughly recommend seeking out this pretty little place in the city ????
