Quick Facts About Mr Munch
Strengths:
1. Great service: Multiple comments mention the great service provided by the staff at Mr Munch. They are described as friendly, efficient, and always willing to go the extra mile for customers. This is a significant strength as it creates a positive and welcoming atmosphere for customers.
2. Wide choice of foods and drinks: Another strength highlighted by the comments is the wide choice of foods and drinks available at Mr Munch. This provides customers with options and ensures that there is something for everyone. It is also mentioned that the breakfast is tasty and not greasy, indicating that the quality of the food is good.
3. Community feel establishment: Mr Munch is praised for having a real community feel. This is likely due to it being an independent, family-run business in the town center. The sense of community creates a comfortable and familiar environment for customers, making it a popular choice for locals.
4. Fantastic local café: One comment specifically mentions that Mr Munch is a fantastic local café in Basingstoke. This indicates that it has a positive reputation within the local community, which can be seen as a strength. Word-of-mouth recommendations and repeat customers are crucial for the success of any establishment.
5. Good value: The comments suggest that Mr Munch offers good value for money. One commenter mentions that it is their first option to eat when coming to the town center, highlighting that the price is reasonable and the quality of food justifies the cost.
Weaknesses:
1. Cash only: One common weakness mentioned in the comments is that Mr Munch is cash only. This could pose an inconvenience for customers who do not carry cash or prefer to use other forms of payment. It may limit the number of customers that can dine at the establishment.
2. Inconsistent quality: There are a few comments that mention a decline in the quality of the food at Mr Munch. One commenter states that the food used to be good in the past but has not been great on recent visits. Another comment describes the chips as tasting like they were cooked in dirty oil and the ketchup as unpleasant. This inconsistency in quality may deter repeat customers and impact the overall reputation of the café.
3. Slow service: One negative comment mentions having to wait to be seated and then wait again to be served. It is stated that the staff were seen standing around and chatting to each other instead of attending to customers. Slow service can be frustrating for customers, especially when they are in a hurry or have limited time for a meal.
4. Cold food: Another weakness mentioned is the temperature of the food. One commenter states that the front door is often open, causing the food to get cold quickly. This can negatively impact the dining experience, as food is often enjoyed best when served hot.
5. Lack of resolution to complaints: A dissatisfaction was expressed by a customer who had a negative experience with both the food and the staff. They mentioned being met with dismissive responses when complaining about the food, and the manager's response was not satisfactory. Lack of resolution to customer complaints can damage the reputation of an establishment and lead to negative word-of-mouth.
In conclusion, Mr Munch has several strengths, such as great service, a wide choice of foods and drinks, and a strong community feel. However, there are also weaknesses that need to be addressed, including being cash only, inconsistent quality, slow service, cold food, and a lack of resolution to customer complaints. Addressing these weaknesses will help Mr Munch maintain its positive reputation and attract more customers.

Great service! Cash only though. Great value with a wide choice of foods and drinks!
Fantastic local cafè in Basingstoke. When I went there I had scrambled egg on toast which was delicious, the mug of tea was weak (I like my tea strong). Fantastic friendly staff and service. Mr Munch is a real community feel establishment. Highly recommended.
Always our first option to eat when coming to the town centre. Bear in mind it is cash only. I appreciate the food, breakfast is tasty, not greasy, and you can actually taste the flavours. Friendly staff too! Always forget to take the picture of the food ???? because always eager to start eating!!!
Lovely food but you need to get the front door fixed as it’s open most of the time and the food gets cold.
Spent 10 minutes waiting to be seated, then spent 15 minutes waited to be served, staff were just stood looking around and chatting to each other. So we up and left.
Mr Munch is one of those rare finds in Basingstoke - an independent, family-run business in the centre of town. The food is always fresh and tastes fantastic. Nothing is too much trouble, and the staff are very friendly and efficient. This is easily one of the best cafes in town - if not, THE best..
Food used to be alright in here years ago for a greasy spoon but last few times haven’t been great, today went in there and ordered burger, chips, beans for me, 3yr old had kids fish fingers and chips, partner had gourmet burger chips and mushrooms, and 13yr old had just a apple crumble and custard. Took 30mins to arrive (drinks were Luke warm no ice coke) burger was ok but chips looked and tasted like they were cooked in dirty oil 3rd chip I got a mouthful of oil which put me off (don’t get put off easily) so ended up eating burger and beans, ketchup I wouldn’t even call ketchup doesn’t taste like one and was orange ???? 3yr old fish finger was very crispy and she took one bite and said it was burnt - coming from a 3yr old - partner was put off by the ketchup and mushrooms that just tasted like she was eating balls of oil (she is 9mths pregnant today so gets put off easily), 13yr old stopped eating hers as she said she didn’t like the custard and couldn’t seem to find the apple, they walked out disappointed leaving virtually all the food on the plates. I complained to the waitress who just said oh. I walked out but then decided to go back in to challenge the fact I was charged £30 for virtually nothing as it wasn’t edible. I was met by the chef/manager (at least she said she was the manager) I expressed my disappointment and her answer was she had changed the oil yesterday and that no one else had complained today, she asked what I wanted done and I just told her I wasn’t happy that I was charged £30 for something that was not enjoyable she repeatedly asked what I wanted done not offering a resolution or apology just said no one else had complained, in the end I said I’m happy to pay half so she took £15 out of the till and almost threw it at me then saying that if it was another manager they most likely would have refused to refund me anything. Being a truck driver I’ve eaten plenty of cafe food but this is the worst experience by staff and food I have ever had
Visited Mr Munchies today with my son, his friend and her Mum. The staff were brilliant, friendly and couldn't do enough. Lovely food. Thank you to the staff. We will visit again. ????????
