Quick Facts About Obscura Cafe
Obscura Cafe has received a mix of positive and negative comments, highlighting both its strengths and weaknesses.
One of the strengths mentioned is the cafe's hot chocolate, which is remembered as the best by one customer who visited England for a week. This suggests that the cafe may excel in certain menu items and have a specialty that stands out.
Another positive comment is about the decent food and fairly nice place with reasonable access, particularly for wheelchair users. This shows that the cafe is accessible and inclusive, catering to individuals with disabilities.
Customers also enjoyed the atmosphere of the cafe, with one person mentioning enjoying drinks in the early Spring sunshine while listening to a local marching band. This suggests that the ambiance and surroundings of the cafe contribute to a pleasant experience.
However, there are several weaknesses mentioned in the comments as well. One common complaint is the high prices, with one customer expressing shock at the cost compared to other restaurants. This indicates that the pricing may not align with the quality or value of the food and drinks offered.
Cleanliness is another major issue highlighted by multiple customers. Comments mention filthy bar areas, sticky chairs, and overall disgusting conditions. This suggests that the cafe may have issues with cleanliness and hygiene, which can significantly impact the dining experience.
Several comments also mention poor customer service. One customer mentions staff being more interested in their phones than helping customers, while another mentions the staff's lack of interest in being there and their disregard for struggling customers. This highlights a lack of attentiveness and professionalism among the staff.
There are also instances of food quality issues. Customers mention receiving food that looks like slop, basic sausages, dried bacon, and cold dishes. One customer even mentions receiving a green cheese omelette, possibly indicating spoiled or moldy ingredients. These comments suggest that the cafe may have consistency and quality control problems in their food preparation.
Additionally, comments mention long waiting times for orders, with one customer waiting 45 minutes for a pannini and experiencing delays despite having a young child. This indicates poor efficiency and potential understaffing issues.
Lastly, there is a comment mentioning a rude and sarcastic response from the chef when concerns were raised about the food. This highlights a negative attitude and lack of professionalism in the kitchen.
In conclusion, while Obscura Cafe may have strengths in its hot chocolate, accessibility, and overall atmosphere, it is significantly weakened by its high prices, cleanliness issues, poor customer service, food quality problems, delays in service, and unprofessional behavior from the kitchen staff. These negative aspects greatly impact the overall dining experience and may deter customers from returning to the cafe.

Wir waren eine Woche in england und in Bournmouth ist mir einzig dieses Cafe mit der besten heißen schokolade in errinerung geblieben
Absolutely awful place i should of took notice why it always is empty now... we went in and ordered some drinks and some food and the totally shocked at the price when i went to pay... ive paid less in a lovely restaurant. Then while waiting for the food we noticed how disgusting the place is. The bar area is filthy and the chairs were sticky. They obviously don't clean them.
The food came out looking like slop and had to send back twice so we couldn't eat it.
Sorry to say its a slums dive. Never will go in there again.
Decent food, fairly nice place with reasonable access. Chairs and tables might not be too easy to get around particularly if it gets busy, and staff had to open the other side of the door to allow enough room for the wheelchair to get inside so keep in mind if it is busy it may be difficult to go in if you don't have someone else who can order on your behalf as orders are placed inside at the bar.
£32.50 for 2 soft drinks 2 coffees and 2 breakfasts. The food was vile the most basic sausages, dried bacon, everything else was cold. The staff have no interest being there, no customer service more interested in their phones than helping old ladies struggling to carry the over priced drinks
Self service cafe bar in large open square. We enjoyed a couple of drinks in the early Spring sunshine listening to a well rehearsed local marching band. Deep joy.
Our experience at your cafe this morning was horrendous. The most simple order ever... A breakfast and a pannini.. pannini was given to another customer and we sat waiting 45 minutes whilst other orders behind us were coming out. Waiter apologised and gave us a drink only for us to carry on waiting a further 25 minutes for the pannini. Eventually had no choice but to ask for a refund with a crying 2 year old as he didn't get his breakfast. To add the this, when the waiter addressed our concerns with the chef we then heard him shouting rude and sarcastic comments to us from the kitchen.. so bad ????
Went there today and ordered my mum cheese omelette and chips, I had a chicken burger and chips,
cheese omelette was green and staff could not tell me why there was green in colour,I think it was from mouldy cheese. The chicken burger was no better it was fried and over done. I will not be going back there to eat, Ever!!
Came here for a breakfast and the sent out my full English breakfast with eggs that have raw egg white on them so I took the plate back and asked if they can cook them properly and the plate came back with eggs that look like they have been made into an omelette… Clearly shows the chef is incompetent
