Quick Facts About P.J.'s Oyster Bar

P.J.'s Oyster Bar has a number of strengths as mentioned in the comments. Firstly, the food is generally praised, with positive comments about dishes such as clam chowder, blackened grouper sandwich, hush puppies, snow crab legs, scallops, garlic butter scallops, boiled shrimp, grouper sandwich, fried oysters, crab cake, and key lime pie. These positive comments indicate that the restaurant has a diverse and delicious menu with options for various tastes.
In terms of atmosphere, P.J.'s Oyster Bar is described as having a great ambiance and a beachy feel. The restaurant has a nice outdoor patio and plenty of indoor seating, as well as retro decorations that contribute to its cool and fun atmosphere. This creates a welcoming and enjoyable environment for customers to dine in.
Service is another strength of this restaurant, with multiple comments praising the attentive and friendly staff. The fact that the manager was willing to address a customer's dissatisfaction with the giant lobster tail demonstrates that the staff is responsive to concerns and willing to make things right if necessary. This level of customer service helps to create a positive dining experience.
Additionally, the restaurant has a nice-sized parking lot and is able to accommodate customers even during busy periods. This is mentioned in one of the comments, indicating that P.J.'s Oyster Bar is capable of handling a high volume of customers efficiently.
However, there are also some weaknesses mentioned in the comments. One customer mentions that the lobster roll was not good and another customer was disappointed by the lack of flavor in the giant lobster tail. These comments suggest that the quality of the lobster dishes may not be consistent, which could be a cause for concern.
Another weakness mentioned is that the blackened grouper in the grouper, shrimp, and scallops combo was too salty, and the shrimp was overcooked. This indicates that the execution of some dishes may not always meet customer expectations in terms of taste and quality.
In addition, one customer mentions that the New England clam chowder was good but not as good as what they make at home. This suggests that while the chowder is decent, it may not stand out compared to other seafood restaurants in the area.
Another weakness mentioned is the plain and boring fish tacos, which the customer felt could be improved. This indicates that the restaurant may not excel in all areas of its menu and there may be room for improvement in terms of offering more exciting and flavorful options.
Finally, one comment suggests that the key lime pie had great filling but the crust was lacking. This indicates that while there are strengths in terms of dessert options, there may be some inconsistencies in the execution of certain dishes.
Overall, while P.J.'s Oyster Bar has numerous strengths such as its delicious food, great atmosphere, attentive service, and convenient parking, there are some weaknesses to be addressed, particularly regarding the consistency and execution of certain dishes. However, these weaknesses can potentially be overcome with improvements in the menu and kitchen operations, ensuring a more consistent and exceptional dining experience for customers.

We would definitely eat here again. Food was good, would not get the lobster roll again but the clam chowder was DELICIOUS as was my husbands blackened grouper sandwich. Hush puppies were the BEAT I’ve ever had! Atmosphere is great and the service was phenomenal!!! Drinks were also good. They have a nice sized parking lot and we got there at 3:30 so we were seated immediately.
We're locals but somehow haven't been here before, it's a little hidden away in the back. Huge outdoor patio and lots of indoor seating as well, beachy atmosphere with lots of decor to look at. Waitress recommended snow crab legs and scallops, both were delicious. Oysters were okay. I was excited to try the giant lobster tail but was very disappointed ???? It had no flavor whatsoever, not what you would expect for over $50. Ever after trying to doctor it up with salt and butter, it was still just plain blah. Our server had manager come talk to us and they agreed to take it back and off the check, so I'm happy with the service. Because of that, would recommend them. I'd skip lobster next time.
I’ve been here twice now so I’m doing my due diligence and leaving my 5 stars here. It’s a great spot to go eat after a lengthy beach day. The Chicago style oysters were so good which lots of cheese, butter, and lemons to top it off! We also got the garlic butter scallops and boiled shrimp, both which lived up to our satisfaction. Very laidback and casual atmosphere and awesome service from the staff! I want to start making this place as a part of my beach day routines because it’s just easy and straight up great.
I recommend the grouper sandwich with fried beer batter and fries. The clams, fried oysters, crab cake, and clam chowder were all delicious too. Great atmosphere. New favorite spot! Oh and definitely get the key lime pie for dessert! Creamy and absolutely delicious. Some of the best I’ve ever had.
This was my first time at this restaurant. The food was very good! I had the blackened scallops, shrimp and grouper. Was the perfect blend of heat, very good. The atmosphere is cool as it has fun retro decorations. Staff here was very friendly and helpful. Worth the stop of in the area!
Fun atmosphere but there are better seafood restaurants in town. New England Clam chowder app ($6) was good but my Wife makes it better, just ask her. I had the Grouper, Shrimp and Scallops combo Blackened TOO Salty! Shrimp was overcooked. Baked potato came with 48% vegetable spread, ask for real butter. Wife had the Fish Tacos - plain and boring. We can get better tacos in Minnesota - step it up! My son liked the Lobster Roll, best he had in town and he said the key Lime Pie had the best filling but not the best crust. Will skip this one next time.
