Great service. The owners are down to earth people.....place is clean and close everything.....prices are cool too.
I personally wasn't impressed at all. I was expecting this place to feel close to a cabin with warm vibes, but instead it's like a apartment complex. It is really aged and you can tell by the paint on the walls and structure of everything inside. I was placed on the bottom room, so I could hear everyone's foot movements upstairs above me, as long as their conversations, whenever they showered, and used the bathroom. The fireplace wasn't warm, it was more for looks. It also seemed like no one had mopped the floors or aired the room out. Pros were the location, heater worked good, and the bed was comfy however squeaky.
I'd give it 0 stars if it was an option. Room didn't have toilet paper. The shower know leaked and sprayed scalding hot water on you while you showered. Bathroom door frame was broken. Shower tub had cracks that hurt my foot. The beds felt like prison beds. Ended up flairing up my back pain. And you cannot see or reach a live person if you need assistance. Don't spend your hard earned money there. I'd rather of camped in the snow in a tent before ever coming back. Rooms are also the tiniest most clostrophobic rooms you can imagine. And lastly the heater vent was falling off and made horrible noise like it was going to explode. Literally the worst spot in big bear to stay. Tell your friends. Share this knowledge. Save your money and run away from here
This place is a solid 3 stars. Appliances inside are a bit dated, some tiles are cracked, the fireplace makes a weird whizzing sound when it's on, and the pool is shuttered. With that said, a little bit of love would turn this place into an awesome stay. The room was clean, the bed was super comfy, and it's location is awesome. (Room 16)
A week before my party’s stay, a winter storm hit. Since our car couldn’t make it through the extreme weather, we couldn’t attend our intended stay.
I went onto Booking.com and inquired as to whether they had any other dates available. I selected the next available date, and Booking.com stated that they would contact the property owners and that they would get back to me if that date was, in fact, available. There was no indication that I had consented to change my date, and thus pay the change fee. All that was stated was that the property would respond to my inquiry about the availability of a future date.
Unfortunately, Booking.com and the property decided to forgo their written statements. Instead of getting back to me to confirm that the date I inquired about was available and that I indeed wanted to pay for another date and a change fee (like was stated on the Booking.com portal) they just charged my credit card immediately. No option to confirm or disconfirm my dealing like I was led to believe. I contacted the property owner to inform them of the mistake, and they refused to refund. Despicable and greedy. During the holiday season too. Hundreds of dollars down the drain.
I advise you take your business somewhere else.
We used to come here a few times every year. Now that the previous couple is no longer in charge of the property and everything is being done via booking.com things have changed for the worse.. Yes there have been a few upgrades done to the rooms but a 4pm check-in is a bit late for our taste. Also the prices have skyrocketed from ~$64 on an season weekday / $75 weekends to nearly $100 on any weekday and up to 300 on some weekends.. I had a feeling they would up the prices as soon as I saw keyless entry a bit I guess I didn't anticipate a 50%+ increase over 6 months..if I was to rate the property I'd say 1/5 under new administration 5/5 under old
The owners are more interested in the money than the well being of their customers. I called 24 hrs before our stay and told them that my husband was sick and we where waiting on his COVID test back if we can cancel and get a refund. They told me that COVOD was not a good reason for canceling since the vaccine had been out a year ago. I told them we were vaccinated but had symptoms and doctor advised to get tested they told me to call the third party i booked with. I called the third party and they said they would refund if the lodge would ok it. They reached out to them and said no not a good excuse for free cancellation. that it didn’t matter . Even the third party was surprised they wouldn’t accommodate.
