Quick Facts About The Generals Arms
The Generals Arms pub has received mixed reviews from customers, offering both positive and negative feedback. In order to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the establishment, we will analyze the comments provided.
Starting with the positive aspects, several customers praised the food at The Generals Arms. One customer mentioned that they had the lamb shank for Sunday dinner and found it to be both delicious and generous in portion size. The inclusion of roast potatoes, parsnips, Yorkshire pudding, stuffing, and vegetables alongside the main dish was noted as impressive, especially considering the affordable price of £11. This positive review is indicative of the pub's ability to offer quality meals at an affordable price point.
Additionally, the friendly and helpful nature of both the manager and staff was commended by multiple customers. The staff were described as hardworking and accommodating, providing good service to ensure customers had an enjoyable experience. This positive interaction with the staff contributes to the overall atmosphere of the pub and makes customers feel welcome and well taken care of.
The Generals Arms also received praise for its variety of TV screens and its ability to accommodate sports events. One customer mentioned watching the last game of the Premiership on one of the many TV screens at the pub. The presence of multiple screens and the ability to cater to sports enthusiasts contributes to the pub's popularity among locals and creates a lively atmosphere for patrons who enjoy watching sporting events.
On the other hand, there were some negative comments regarding the pub's service and overall experience. One customer had an awful experience, describing the pub as smelly and expressing dissatisfaction with the wait time for their food. They reported waiting over an hour for their burgers when they were initially informed it would only take 20 minutes. The lack of efficiency and miscommunication regarding the food preparation timeframe are notable weaknesses of The Generals Arms. Furthermore, this customer was upset with the service and mentioned that the pub was not busy, indicating a potential issue with the staff's ability to manage the workload effectively.
Another contrasting opinion was expressed by a customer who found The Generals Arms to be a decent pub with a happy atmosphere and friendly locals. They did, however, describe the food offering as average. While this comment is not as negative as the previous one, it suggests that the food quality at the pub may not consistently meet the expectations of all customers.
Furthermore, one customer questioned the presence of individuals consuming alcohol before 10 am, indicating a potential concern regarding excessive drinking habits in the establishment. This comment may reflect negatively on the pub's atmosphere and the type of clientele it attracts.
Despite some negative feedback, The Generals Arms received positive reviews for its breakfast and friendly staff. Customers expressed satisfaction with the overall experience, complimenting the food and the pub's ambiance. Having a consistently good meal experience and friendly staff contributes to repeat patronage and positive word-of-mouth recommendations.
In summary, The Generals Arms has several strengths, including its ability to provide delicious and generous meals at an affordable price, good customer service from friendly staff, and a lively atmosphere with multiple TV screens for sports enthusiasts. However, it also faces weaknesses in terms of potential issues with food preparation times, average food quality, and concerns about excessive drinking habits by some patrons. Overall, The Generals Arms has the potential to be a recommended establishment, but improvements in these areas could help enhance its reputation further.
Best TL Reviews
We went for Sunday dinner and to watch the last game of the premiership on one of their many TV screens. We both opted for the lamb shank and it was both gorgeous and massive. Roast potatoes and parsnips , Yorkshires, stuffing and veg plus you get a desert all for £11. Bargain. Both manager and both staff were very friendly, helpful and incredibly hard working. Totally recommended
Decent pub with lots of screens and always busy with locals. Happy service with average food offering. Beers are cheaper and people are happier. Would recommend Street a long countryside walk around Chesham.
Absolutely horrendous experience. Smelly pub, waited over an hour for our burgers (we were told it would take 20min). When we asked where the food was, they told us it would be at least another 20min. The pub was not busy. Upset with the service, we canceled the food and were not even given any compensation except for the food refund.
Friendly locals & service. Will definitely eat there next time. In these difficult times this was a throwback to better days.
Good breakfast.
But why are people on alcohol before 10am?
Beautiful food friendly staff overall great experience
We went for the semi and final of Euros. Had a meal both times which were good and a very quick service. However, what stood out were the staff. They worked so hard and even though the pub was busy we didn't have to wait for drinks. Well done to them????
