One commenter mentions that the pub has a fresh new look on the inside, suggesting that renovations have been made to improve the atmosphere. Another comment mentions the presence of bouncy castles in the beer garden, which is enjoyed by children visiting the pub on weekends. The fact that the pub can accommodate large groups, as seen on Mothers Day when a table of 12 was pleased with the service, indicates that it is suitable for family gatherings or events. One commenter does mention that the building itself is a bit tired, suggesting that it may need some renovations or maintenance. However, this does not seem to significantly impact the overall experience for customers as they still enjoy their drinks.

This negative feedback highlights the importance of consistent pricing and respectful customer service.
In summary, the strengths of The George pub can be identified as its friendly and welcoming staff, a nice-sized beer garden with bouncy castles for children, accommodation for large groups, a fresh interior look, and a generally positive atmosphere. However, potential weaknesses include the tired state of the building, temporary closure, and negative experiences with pricing and service during a wake.

I'm from Holland visiting family. Came to the George quite a couple of times. It got a nice fresh new look on the inside. Friendly staff and a nice beer garden with bouncy castles for the kids in the weekends. Will come back.
Just had a fab Mothers Day here. Accomodated a noisy table of 12 for us. Fab service. Great homecooked Sunday lunch. Even the yorkshire puds were mum made. New Management making it a real welcoming traditional family run pub!!! Lovely atmosphere n friendly locals. Good pub!
Better now the new owners have it. Feels more of a safe place to have a cheap pint. Excellent beer garden when the weather is right.
Nice friendly staff with pool table and bouncy castle for the kids which they love. Would get 5 stars but the building is a bit tired, not that interferes with your drinking.
The George is shut, and has been for a while, however there is a lovely, bar , nearby called the Woolen Pig ,which serves all sorts of drinks, cakes and sandwiches
I would of given this place zero stars if it was an option, appalled with this pub my family had a wake here and they put the drink prices up even though they was already paid for the location and food, to con mourners out of money just to make a profit is sick, no respect what's so ever. Not only that but the money that was given for food should of been enough to give a reasonable amount a food not something you can buy from the asda smart price range. On top of that the female bartenders attitude towards a pregnant women using the toilet without buying a drink was disgusting, clearly people scares and hospitality skills another thing she lacks
