Quick Facts About The Pelican Cafe

The Pelican Cafe has received mostly positive comments regarding its food, service, and atmosphere. However, there are also a few negative comments highlighting some weaknesses of the place.
Starting with the strengths, many customers praise the quality and taste of the food. The fries are mentioned as being "very fresh," and the burgers are described as "tasty" and "amazing." The portion sizes are also mentioned positively, with customers stating that the meals are large and satisfying. This is seen as a strength since customers feel they are getting good value for their money.
The friendly and attentive service is also highlighted as a strength. Customers appreciate the welcoming and helpful attitude of the staff, with one reviewer even stating that it was the "best service" they had ever seen. This positive experience with the staff enhances the overall dining experience for customers.
Additionally, the homemade aspect of the food is seen as appealing, as customers appreciate the freshness and quality that comes with homemade meals. The use of fresh ingredients and the effort put into preparing the dishes is recognized and appreciated.
Another mentioned strength is the affordability of the food. Many customers mention that the prices are reasonable, considering the portion sizes and quality of the food. This makes it an attractive option for those looking for a good meal at a fair price.
However, there are a few weaknesses mentioned in the comments as well. One customer mentions that the atmosphere is lacking, describing it as "cute and rustic" but without anything special to offer. This suggests that the restaurant may need to invest more in creating a distinct and memorable ambiance.
Another weakness mentioned is the wait time for the food. One customer mentions waiting around 45 minutes for their order, which is considered excessive. This indicates a potential issue with the efficiency of the kitchen and the ability to handle a busy period.
Some customers also have criticisms about specific dishes. One customer mentioned that the chicken fried steak had no flavor, which is disappointing since it is a signature dish. Another customer found the food to be dry and bland, mentioning that the hot chocolate was poorly made and the food lacked taste. These comments highlight the importance of maintaining consistent quality in all aspects of the menu.
There are also small issues brought up, such as the waitress being standoffish and the booths being worn and wobbly. While these weaknesses may not directly impact the food, they can still impact the overall dining experience and should be addressed to ensure customer satisfaction.
In conclusion, The Pelican Cafe has several strengths, including great food, friendly service, large portions, and affordable prices. However, there are also some weaknesses, such as inconsistency in flavor and quality, long wait times, as well as issues with the atmosphere and overall dining experience. Addressing these weaknesses could help further improve the overall dining experience at The Pelican Cafe.

Wow!! The best place to eat is the most unassuming locally owned dining experience. Seriously have some of the best fries, very fresh! The burgers…. Where do I start??Whatever they do to these burgers WORKS!!! Tasty, fresh and your choice of big 1/3 or 1/2 lb. I ordered the Bubba burger and it was absolutely amazing. sorry about the picture , I could not wait to eat this masterpiece!!
The Pelican Cafe is the best place for lunch in Laurel, hands down! The chicken fried steak skillet is freakin awesome!
The chicken fried chicken biscuits are the bomb!! Service is great and friendly, best I’ve ever seen!! Check em out! Just dang good food!
Ok, so to break this down for yall. This is my families number one place for Sunday breakfast. We wake up and get there around the time they open. Amazing service and the food is worth more then they charge.
Stop in the first time ever today to give them a try. The place is very cute and rustic but the atmosphere has nothing to give. The waitress I had was very standoffish from the start. Yes they were busy while i was there but that isn't a good reason to not pay attention to your tables fully.
They let the orders just build in the window so plates are pilled on top of plates and as far as i can tell theres no heat lamp either to keep the food warm while it sits there.
I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak with 2 Over Medium Eggs on a separate plate, Load Extra Crispy Hashbrowns, and a biscuit instead of toast.
After waiting probably 45 or so minutes i finally received my food. The Chicken Fried Steak as no flavor but is a very decent size, my eggs come on the same plate as my hashbrowns even though I asked for them on a separate plate, my extra crispy loaded hashbrowns weren't crispy in the slightest, lastly the biscuit was delicious and was the best thing.
Everything was homemade which was very appealing but the experience wasn't the best first impression.
Friendly Atmosphere and Friendly Waitress. Affordable Price with Large Portions! Found this place in Google Maps and OMG. Fresh Hot Prepared Triple Meat Omelette with Hash Browns Topped with Sausage Gravy. Cheese and Meat in Every Bite to The End. Good Size Portions plus Fresh Hot Coffee. Excellent All Around Experience. Highly Recommend Going.
Great little place that reminds me of home. Great food, Huge portions, not once have I finished a meal. The staff here are super friendly and attentive. Absolutely love this place
Great place to eat. Good food and lots of it
We tried this place and just weren’t impressed. Cozy hunter themed diner.
Good portion sizes, plenty of options. Friendly staff. However the food just wasn’t good.. Hot chocolate was powder and not well mixed, we could still see the powder clusters on top and clumped in the bottom of the mugs, there was no whipped cream. Food was dry and bland. Booths were worn and wobbled.
Just wasn’t what we expected with these ratings.
