Lovely cosy pub and even lovelier food. The lasagne was delicious, pork belly fabulous, burgers went down a storm. Home made chips were also fab. Lots of options for drinks. Took our dog who also had a lovely time with the other dogs in the pub! We had a really lovely meal here and will certainly be returning.
Nice decor. Food was good and good value.
Trifle was not properly set jelly and custard were runny. But overall 9/10
I went and had Christmas lunch with friends this week. It's been 20 years since I was last there after a terrible meal and this time could not have been different.
The staff were friendly, funny, attentive without being in your way, the food absolutely delicious, faultless and I can not recommend this enough.
The atmosphere was lovely and from walking in the door to leaving everything was perfect.
Will definitely be back.
A short walk from West Monkseaton metro is the Red Lion. I love a carvery so me and friend tried here, and it did not disappoint. One the best carverys ive had. Fresh veg, large homemade yorkies (which tasted great) and lots of meat. The turkey was fresh and come.with 3 large slices. So all in all excellent value for money. and we will definatly be back.
Only little negatives, they had no beef ????, which Turkey and Beef is always my go to meats on a carvery. We were advided we could wait until four if we wanted beef and our table was a little squashed inbetween the bar and another table.
I have been about 5 times in the past few weeks now. The lunch menu is really good value for money. At £8.95 a meal which includes either a starter or pudding , you can't go wrong. The food is lovely and the portions are a generous size.
Would definitely recommend
Food was unreal and we even had a little friend join our table and tell us about his walkies and where his favourite spot to eat was
Very busy and great atmosphere.
The fish ???? and chips are amazing and don't forget to leave room for a dessert. Their own version of Eaton mess is not to be missed. Best I've had in a very long time ????
I went for Sunday lunch and asked whilst there if I could order 2 take away Sunday lunches also, I was told ‘you need to bring your own plates, we do not do cartons apart if for your dog’ I then went on to explain these dinners where for my daughter and her partner who were at hospital with their premature baby and I would pay a deposit for the plates, they came back with a big fat NO!
No where on their website does it say this that you have to bring your own plates for take out! The staff were very dismissive which I thought was appalling! As for the food the only nice thing about it was the roast beef, the mash potato was lumpy and the stuffing on offer was as dry as a bone
I will not be going back!
