Quick Facts About Tropics Motor Hotel
The Tropics Motor Hotel has several strengths that can be gathered from the comments above. One of the main strengths is the cleanliness and hygiene of the motel. Multiple comments mention the cleanliness of the rooms and bathrooms, ensuring a pleasant stay for guests. This is a significant advantage as cleanliness is a crucial factor for guests when choosing a place to stay.
The location of the hotel is also mentioned as a strength. It is described as ideal for a spontaneous stopover during a USA trip. The proximity of the hotel to major attractions, such as the Coachella venue, is highlighted as a positive aspect. Additionally, the secure parking lot is considered a positive feature for guests, as it provides peace of mind for those traveling with vehicles.
The affordability of the Tropics Motor Hotel is another strength mentioned by guests. It is described as being reasonably priced compared to other hotels in the area. This affordability, combined with the convenient location, makes it an attractive option for guests.
The staff at the Tropics Motor Hotel are commended for being friendly and helpful. Several comments mention specific staff members who provided excellent service and had extensive knowledge of the area. This level of customer service adds to the positive experience for guests.
However, there are also some weaknesses that can be inferred from the comments. One of the notable weaknesses is the outdated appearance of the rooms. While some guests appreciate the classic motor hotel feel, others mention that the rooms need updating. This can be a drawback for guests who prefer more modern accommodations.
Another weakness mentioned by guests is the noise from the nearby train tracks. Although some guests claim that the noise is not disruptive, others mention that it can be bothersome, especially for light sleepers. This noise issue can be a potential disadvantage for guests who are sensitive to sound disturbances.
Some comments also mention minor issues with housekeeping. While the overall cleanliness is praised, there are a few incidents where housekeeping did not meet expectations. For example, one guest mentions that the cleaning person left a full garbage can in the room, and another guest comments on the pool being filthy. These instances indicate a slight inconsistency in the quality of housekeeping services.
In conclusion, the Tropics Motor Hotel has several strengths that make it an attractive option for guests. These strengths include cleanliness, a convenient location, affordability, and friendly staff. However, there are also some weaknesses, such as outdated rooms, noise from nearby train tracks, and minor issues with housekeeping. Despite these weaknesses, the positive aspects of the hotel outweigh the negatives and make it a desirable place to stay for many guests.

Sauberes und gepflegtes Motel. Ideal für den spontanen Zwischenhalt während des USA Trips.
I stayed at this motel for six nights earlier this month (Sept. 2014). The room did NOT "smell funny" as
stated by some others who have commented, there WAS soap, conditioning shampoo, body lotion. The pillows were not good, but the large bed was comfortable and I was given a room with a refrigerator and microwave. I only asked for maid service twice while I was there, but the cleaning person did not do a very good job - left my full garbage can in the room, so I took it out myself. Also, did not wash the countertop at all. However, towels were changed, and the shower stall was cleaned. Shower was good and water was hot. The a/c was too powerful and would not adjust. I left it off all day, and turned it on again when I returned in the evening. Turned it off when I went to bed, then in the middle of the night turned it on again. I don't suppose all the rooms have this problem. I was in 109. Mike at the desk and Dennis were very pleasant and helpful.
The staff was friendly. Room was a little dated, which added to the experience of a classic motor hotel. Great experience as a part of my cross country motorcycle voyage. Rooms are quiet. Parking lot is secure. The one downside I could think of is the train that runs by rather frequently. If your a sound sleeper it shouldn't be a problem. It didn't shake the building like I've seen others say. Also they don't blow the horn which is good. All you hear is a mild vibration. I would stay here again absolutely.
It has nice beds, our rooms was in the back so we could hardly hear the train. Comes with fridge and a microwave which had outlets to charge our phones (weird but convenient) The bathrooms are clean but need to be updated. Nice basic stay overall. I would stay there again.
We had a good experience. The owners are friendly and helpful. The room was spacious for a party of 3 and clean. We had a fridge, but the owner also showed another room without a fridge for the same price. So, I guess it depends on availability.
The place had everything what we expect and need from a motel. Would stay here again next time of we EVER come to Indio again (although I can't think of any reason).
I planned to give the motel 4 stars until I checked out. Checking in was great. I stayed Nov. 24, 25, 26. Frank is wonderful and knows all the history of the valley. The maid and laundry fellow were nice. I requested a non-smoking room, which this room was so designated. It smelled musty. I asked the maid if she had spray, and she sprayed an icky flowery scent. So I opened the windows and drapes and left for 4 hours. The room still smelled nasty. The room was clean enough and good enough for the low price. The mattress was good and the pillows were nice. The shower had lots of hot water and strong pressure. The shower head was low, which I like because I am short. If you're tall, you won't like that. No coffee maker, but I brought instant and a cup and used the microwave. Has a little fridge. Ice machine requires coins.
When I checked out another man was on the desk. I told him that the room was supposed to be a non smoking room, but that people had smoked in it. He said that was impossible. I said that it stunk, but he argued that it couldn't. When I told him that he could get rid of the stink by washing the bed spread, spraying Fabreez on the upholstered chairs, and shampooing the carpet, he got mad at me.
The weather was warm enough to swim. I had brought my swimming suit. The pool was disgustingly filthy.
I will stay in Indio 2 or 3 nights every couple of weeks in the future. I will NOT ever stay here again.
The rail road tracks are right across the blvd. I heard the freight trains all night. I don't mind the sound.
My girlfriends and I stayed at this motel for Coachella Weekend One this year and I would definitely stay here again. I was SO lucky to find that it had availability last minute (like 2-3 weeks before the show) and that it was not extravagantly overpriced. Even the motel 6 (which I have stayed at for previous Coachellas and is much worse quality) was like twice the price of this hotel). Sure, the price was inflated, but it was totally affordable compared to EVERY other location around. Plus, it's only 3 miles away from the venue, which makes it extremely convenient.
The room was clean, had a fridge and a microwave which was super helpful, and the shower was really powerful which I love. The flat screen was great too. Overall I was happy. It was quiet, no partying or chaos, which I appreciated, because when I'm back at the hotel, I am there to sleep.
A bit dated, but comfortable overall. Easy parking , generally clean rooms. Bed was comfortable, walls are paper-thin so be prepared should you have loud neighbors. (A loud airconditioner helped). Some toiletries supplied but no coffee maker.
