James has been cutting my hair and grooming my beard for years, long before he had his own shop. I've followed him where ever he's gone because the quality of his work is second to none. The Chop Shop has a great atmosphere. You can come in for a beer, great conversation and a top notch barber. I highly recommend James & Dave. Cool guys with great skills!

James is the best barber in the business! He has been cutting my hair for over six years and my son’s hair for over five years. I absolutely would not trust my hair to anyone else. Do yourself a favor and go see James at the Chop Shop. When it comes to a haircut you get what you pay for.

This was the first time I had a Straight Razor Head Shave at a Barbershop and James done a great job. It was very relaxing and he took his time. I will defiantly be back for more head shaves now that I found the perfect place to get one at. Thanks, James!

Awesome shop for the best haircuts in town. Every time is better than the last, which is hard to do as I’ve been supremely satisfied from day one. Very cool location and nothing but good vibes while im in the chair or waiting for my turn. I would have to say the experience would probably be hard to beat anywhere you go. 10/10 highly recommend and is definitely the only place I’ll go for a hair cut or shave.

10/10 - Cool shop, great atmosphere, cold beer, and the best cuts in town. I've been going to see James at The Chop Shop for a few years now, and I've been getting the best haircuts of my life. It was weird at first to have so many people stop to tell me "Nice haircut", but I've gotten used to it, and it's a nice morale boost! I always recommend that people give James a shot, and the ones that do are never disappointed. My only worry is that he's going to get too busy to fit me in. Maybe I should delete this review...

The good & bad of my experience;

Unable to reach by telephone and no other apparent means of booking therefore I

Walked in on a Friday and was able to fill a no-show after sitting behind the confusing and seemingly cold partition where I discovered,

- Walk-ins are double rate @ $60 and I was more treated as an inconvenience in an empty shop.

Straight razor on the neck was proper, some attention to detail, however this was ultimately a most basic fade when I was after a professional haircut.

I was charged and treated like a quick easy $30 make after the setup that the barber was doing me a solid as a walk in, who, filled a no show. I also had to ask for proper change after paying cash.

Likely the best game in town, could have been a fantastic experience but the big fish, small pond complex lead it to fall very short of expectations.

Best shop I've been to in MGM. Been here since 2008. This is the 3rd shop I've gone to. Others leave you with a haircut you have to grow into over a week or so. With James, I walk out with an immediately wearable haircut every time. Great banter and great atmosphere. Best cut in Montgomery!

I have had the pleasure of using the Chop Shop as my personal barbershop for years now. I can honestly say that I have never felt as much like family in any other shop. From the minute that you walk in you are greeted and treated like family. The skill level of the master barber is unmatched. Their ability to deliver exactly what the client wants is second to none. I cannot express enough of how highly I recommend the Chop Shop to any and everyone that may read this review. Not only have they taken care of my hair and beard but they have also taken care of my daughters and my wife. The service we have received has always left us happy and we would not want to use any other barbershop. If you have never tried them before I highly recommend that you do.
