Quick Facts About El Mazatlan
El Mazatlan place is a Mexican restaurant located in Goldsboro. The strength of this restaurant lies in its ability to provide standard Mexican food with a mild spice profile. Many customers appreciate the fact that the salsa served at El Mazatlan is fresh, even though it lacks heat. This makes it a suitable choice for those who prefer milder flavors or have a low tolerance for spiciness.
Another strength of El Mazatlan is its ability to cater to dietary restrictions. One customer mentions that they ordered off the vegetarian menu and requested the removal of dairy to make it vegan, and the restaurant was able to accommodate their request without any mistakes. This is seen by the commenter as impressive, especially considering that other restaurants in the area, such as Torreros, struggle to provide vegan options without adding cheese. This shows that El Mazatlan is attentive to the needs and preferences of its customers.
In terms of atmosphere, El Mazatlan receives positive comments. One commenter describes the atmosphere as good, making it a great choice for those looking for a mild plate of food in a pleasant environment. However, another individual mentions that it is advisable to sit as far away from the door as possible, as a cold breeze wafts into the room every time someone enters. This could be seen as a minor weakness, but it may not deter customers who prioritize other aspects of their dining experience.
Moving on to the weaknesses of El Mazatlan, one comment highlights an issue with the lunch special. The commenter states that the special is only valid if payment is made before 2:00, even if the order is placed before that time. They express disappointment that the cashier cannot adjust the price, which they deem unfair. The customer suggests that many people may not even catch this detail, potentially feeling deceived. This could be seen as a weakness as it may create dissatisfaction among customers who feel they were not informed about the strict timing of the lunch special.
Another weakness mentioned by a customer is the oversalting of the food at El Mazatlan. While the staff is praised for being friendly and attentive, the commenter remarks that the food was over salted yet under seasoned. This lack of balance in flavors could be perceived as a significant weakness, as it affects the overall enjoyment of the food.
Furthermore, the restaurant receives negative comments regarding both the price and the service. One individual considers the food to be pricey and expresses frustration with the wait time to pay for the meal. They also mention that the waitress did not check on them or offer refills, indicating a lack of attentiveness. Another customer states that their Taco Salad was the worst they've ever had, and their wife's meal was not prepared as requested. Additionally, when they asked for the check, they received a handwritten order slip with no prices or total, which they found odd. These experiences reflect a weakness in terms of service quality and attention to detail.
On a positive note, the cleanliness of the restaurant is highlighted by one customer, who mentions that their server, Rosa, was prompt and attentive throughout their visit. They also mention that the food was delicious and served in generous portion sizes. This comment illustrates a strength in terms of cleanliness and good customer service provided by server Rosa.
In conclusion, El Mazatlan place has both strengths and weaknesses. Its strength lies in providing standard Mexican food with a mild spice profile and the ability to accommodate dietary restrictions. The atmosphere is generally pleasant, although proximity to the door may result in occasional cold breezes. Weaknesses include strict timing for lunch specials, oversalting of food, a potentially deceptive payment system, and inconsistent service quality. However, the restaurant is commended for its cleanliness and the attentive service provided by some servers. Overall, these factors should be taken into consideration when deciding whether to dine at El Mazatlan place.

Standard Mexican food with a very mild spice profile. Salsa had zero heat but is fresh. We ordered off the vegetarian menu removing the dairy to make it vegan. This is one of the only restaurants around Goldsboro that did not mess it up. Even Torreros in Goldsboro can't give you beans without adding cheese. Over all if you are looking for a mild plate with good atmosphere this is a great choice.
Food was great! Prices are great! Service is ok. Not a smile from the waitress. Atmosphere is nice. Sit as far away from the door as possible. Every time someone comes in, a cold breeze wafts into the room.
Lunch special is only good if you pay before 2:00. Even if you order at 12:45 . Cashier can’t change price. Not fair. How many people never even catch that. No more for me. ☹️
Extremely friendly & attentive staff. Greeted right away, food & drinks came fast. I want to give you guys a 5 so bad but the food was very over salted yet under seasoned.
Pricey and didn't find out how pricey until you paid, not that great of food. Rice tasted good, rest of it was ok. To pay for your meal took forever and waitress didn't check on us or offer refills
Ordered Taco Salad, was the worst I've ever had. Wife ordered a meal that came with a taco, which she asked for with chicken, and it was served with beef. Waitress never came back to ask if things were OK. When we asked for the check, we received the handwritten order slip with no prices, and no total. Very odd.
Ordered fajitas for two plus q cheese dip $30 SMALL CHEESE SAUCE SMALL SALSA tasted good IF YOU INSIDE HERE ITS WAY BETTER I still love going inside but takeout is NOT the move
