Quick Facts About Hank's Barber Shop
Hank's Barber Shop is a beloved local establishment that has received overwhelmingly positive reviews from its customers. The comments highlight several strengths of the barber shop, including its long-standing reputation, skilled barbers, excellent customer service, fair prices, and nostalgic atmosphere. However, there are also some weaknesses mentioned, such as limited payment options and occasional difficulty in dealing with certain hair types.
One of the major strengths of Hank's Barber Shop is its longstanding reputation in the community. The first comment mentions that the customer has been bringing their sons to the shop for three decades. This demonstrates that Hank's has built a loyal customer base over the years and has consistently provided satisfactory haircuts. The fact that the customer finally met Hank after such a long time suggests that the barbershop has a personal touch and a sense of community, making customers feel like they are more than just clients.
Another strength highlighted in the comments is the skill of the barbers. Customers specifically mention Robert, Vince, Maria, and September as barbers who have provided great haircuts. This indicates that there is a talented team of barbers at Hank's who can cater to various styles and preferences. It is worth noting that the comment about September struggling with a difficult haircut also showcases the barbers' commitment to excellence. Rather than push through and potentially make a mistake, she sought assistance from another barber to provide the best result for the customer.
The comments also commend the customer service at Hank's Barber Shop. Customers mention being treated with respect, kindness, and professionalism. This is a significant strength as it indicates that the shop has created a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for its customers. The second comment specifically mentions the hospitality that is lacking in many other places. These positive interactions with the barbers and staff contribute to the customers feeling valued and appreciated.
Fair pricing is another strength of Hank's Barber Shop, according to one of the comments. This is important as customers are increasingly seeking value for their money. The mention of fair prices suggests that Hank's offers competitive rates, making their services accessible to a broader range of customers.
The nostalgic atmosphere of Hank's Barber Shop is another strength highlighted in the comments. Customers describe the shop as reminiscent of traditional barbershops from the past. The mention of barber poles, vinyl waiting chairs, and leather strops creates a picture of a classic establishment. This atmosphere contributes to the overall experience and adds to the sense of community and familiarity that customers appreciate.
Despite the overwhelmingly positive comments, there are a few weaknesses mentioned. One comment states that Bernie's, another barber shop, was initially the customer's preferred choice, but they did not accept card payments. This indicates that Hank's Barber Shop might lose potential customers who prefer to pay with cards. Offering multiple payment options, including electronic payments, could help overcome this weakness.
Another weakness mentioned in one of the comments is related to difficulty in dealing with certain hair types. While this comment is specific to one barber and one haircut, it does highlight the importance of barbers being able to handle different hair types. Ensuring that all barbers receive training and have the necessary skills to work with various hair textures and styles can help alleviate this weakness.
In conclusion, Hank's Barber Shop has several strengths that make it a beloved local establishment. Its longstanding reputation, skilled barbers, excellent customer service, fair prices, and nostalgic atmosphere are all factors that contribute to its success. However, the weaknesses mentioned, such as limited payment options and occasional difficulty with certain hair types, should be addressed to further improve the overall customer experience.

I have taken all 3 of my sons here over the past three decades. I love this place, Robert and Vince upstairs do a great job on the men’s cuts. After coming here this long I finally met Hank tonight! This is the way barbershops were in the good old days. You leave feeling really good and part of the community- MOST important though, GREAT haircuts. They Listen to what you want. ????♂️ ????????
My son and his Grandmother came in today with his hair grown down to almost his shoulders. He had pictures of what he was wanting and Maria NAILED IT!! She gave him “exactly what I wanted” we are local and I’m so grateful to have found a shop my 13 year old “loves” and will definitely be returning!!
This is the place to go and be for a haircut! This place has the hospitality that most places lack. Hank and his staff are very professional and give quality haircuts. If it’s a trim for you and or your wife this is the place.
Just got my hair cut here for the first time last week, and I have to say it was one of the best haircuts I have ever gotten. My wife was all over me when she saw me! Robert cut my hair and he was great to talk to. I appreciate that their prices are fair too! I will definitely be back.
I went looking a barber that wasn't too expensive and wasn't overly crowded because the one I normally go to gets too busy and I end up waiting more than I would really like to.
I started off at Bernie's because I heard some super cool things about them, but they did cash only - no plastic. Bummer - because I don't normally carry any cash on me.
So I walked down the street to Hank's on the corner (within the same parking lot). As soon as I entered, I could smell nostalgia: hair products, sanitizing solutions for combs, a number of barber poles, vinyl waiting chairs - some of them with tears exposing the innards, and leather strops of various lengths and weathered use hanging in barber stations most definitely not for show or decor. The floor was very tidy and the barber stations were well kempt.
I use the word "nostalgia" because it's the same essence of presence and olfactory I got when my dad used to take me to a local barber in Oxnard as a child.
My barber was September. September is Hank's sister. I was having a not so great end of day, so I fumbled my words out a bit asking for a very high, very tight haircut with "skin coming off the side."
Her chuckled response told me I was in the right place: "I don't think this is the right place for that."
About 20 minutes or so into the haircut, which was going well and felt more like a head massage than a haircut, I could tell she was having difficulty in dealing with the back of my head and the amount of hair I have (had). It's not an easy head of hair to deal with. "You have a lot of hair." I've been to many a barber and I swear I have never been told that before... ;)
Rather than bulling her way through it and risking doing something I wouldn't like, she actually asked for another barber's assistance on how to finish it up. The other barber came over and showed her the technique she used for dealing with hair like mine. September was VERY attentive during this process and I was observant about this. It impressed me to know that seemingly seasoned barbers sometimes need a 2nd opinion and September wasn't embarrassed or humbled about it.
After all was said and done, I left feeling really good about my haircut. I could see - and feel - the difference getting a haircut of THIS caliber vs. going to a heavily commercialized place where you almost feel more like cattle.
September did a fantastic job and I am definitely going back to her again at Hank's.
Always have had a great experience at Hanks Barbershop. They are professional, clean, and provide quality service. Ask for Robert Robles, a true artist of his craft in addition to being friendly and professional.
Always treated with respect and kindness. Love this barber shop
