Quick Facts About Hollylocks
Hollylocks Place, a children's hair salon, has received a mix of positive and negative comments. Analyzing these comments will provide an understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of the establishment.
Starting with the strengths, several customers praised Hollylocks Place for its fair pricing and great environment for kids. The salon offers a wide range of toys and activities to keep children busy, including movies in the styling booths and a play area for siblings. This kid-friendly atmosphere makes it an appealing option for parents looking for a salon that caters specifically to children. Additionally, the comments mention that the stylist, Jeff, is experienced and highly regarded, which indicates that the salon has capable and talented staff.
Another strength mentioned by customers is the patience and friendliness of the stylists. One customer specifically mentioned that the stylist was patient with their child and took the time to make them feel comfortable. This shows that the staff at Hollylocks Place prioritize customer satisfaction and are willing to accommodate the needs of children, even those who may not enjoy getting their hair cut.
Furthermore, a positive comment highlighted the welcoming atmosphere and kind nature of the staff. This indicates that the salon has a friendly and inviting environment, which can contribute to a positive experience for both children and their parents. The comment also mentions that the staff took the time to ensure that children who were not fond of getting their hair cut felt comfortable throughout the process, demonstrating their dedication to providing a positive experience for every child.
Moving on to the weaknesses, one customer had an extremely negative experience with a stylist named Brandi. The customer felt disrespected and unhappy with the treatment their child received. The stylist allegedly made comments about the child's cough, suggesting that they should not have been brought into the salon. Additionally, the customer claims that the stylist's rude behavior continued even after being told that the child was not contagious and on antibiotics. This negative encounter reflects poorly on the salon and indicates a lack of professionalism and empathy on the part of the stylist.
Another customer complained about the long wait times and lack of communication at the salon. They mentioned waiting for 15 minutes without anyone acknowledging them and then waiting a further 30 minutes for their child to sit in the stylist's chair. The lack of communication regarding delays and the perception that other customers were prioritized over them made for a frustrating experience. Additionally, the customer noted that no one in the salon wore masks, despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. This indicates a disregard for safety protocols and could make customers feel uncomfortable or unsafe.
Furthermore, another reviewer mentioned that the stylist they encountered was reluctant to wear a mask and provided a subpar haircut. They specifically mentioned that the stylist only braided one side of their child's hair, making it look incomplete. This suggests a lack of attention to detail and a failure to fully meet the customer's expectations.
In conclusion, Hollylocks Place has strengths such as fair pricing, a great environment for kids, and a well-experienced stylist. Customers praised the salon for its patience with children and the friendly atmosphere. However, there are weaknesses that need to be addressed, including reports of rude and disrespectful behavior from a stylist, long wait times and poor communication, failure to follow safety protocols, and subpar haircuts. These negative experiences highlight areas where improvement is necessary to provide a consistently positive customer experience.

Fair pricing and great environment for kids. Plenty to keep kids busy. Well experience stylist. We love Jeff. He’s the best!!
This place is geared for kids. Movies in the styling booths, wide range of toys to bribe the babies, a nice play area for the siblings. Stylist was super friendly and patient with me and my kiddo, and his hair came out great!
I hate leaving bad reviews, but I walked out of there feeling disrespected and unhappy. I took my 3-year old in for her very first haircut which was unexpected since she decided to give herself an unofficial cut. Brandi was the one who worked on her who treated my daughter like she was extremely gross. My daughter has severe allergies and is on antibiotics for her bacterial sinus infection so she has a cough. I can prove my doctor's visit that very same day. She is not contagious which are also the words of her pediatrician but because it has been very windy, her sinuses are highly irritated which makes her cough. Brandi was passive aggressive about the whole thing telling me I shouldn't have brought my daughter in to her salon because other parents might complain. We were the only ones there initially and then halfway through just one other child came in for a haircut. It was NOT busy at all. No parent was going to complain other than Brandi.
I told her that if she's not comfortable working on my daughter then I can take her elsewhere. I also offered to just cut my daughter's hair myself since she was adamant about working on her. She said to me, "You don't have a license." Totally fine, I'm all about following rules but Brandi, even if you have a license you don't have the right to treat people like you are above them. I never take my daughter anywhere if she is at all deemed contagious; we stay home and drink tea all day. In this instance, she is not contagious and on top of that she is on antibiotics. THIS WAS EXPLAINED TO YOU. My daughter didn't need to be treated like she was covered in poop and you didn't need to be passive aggressive about it even after you were told that she is not contagious and on antibiotics. Her pediatrician, with higher education and a more professional license than you didn't treat her the way you did. Mind you, over a cough.
Brandi hardly touched my daughter and her haircut reflected that. It was uneven all around - see photo. For my daughter's first haircut, it was such a poor experience. I threw away the "first haircut ever" certificate; we don't need to be reminded about how badly we were treated. Brandi is just plain rude. Plus the vibe in this place is very negative and everyone seems to have such low esteem. I do not recommend this place.
We had an appointment booked though the website. My son and I waited 15 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us and another 30 minutes for my son to even be sitting in the chair for a stylist to start cutting his hair . It’s understandable if a business is short staffed for things to take longer, but communicating with your customers is key. Had I been told a stylist was this far behind upon walking in the door, I may have made a different decision about keeping my appointment or rescheduling. Watching two people come in after me and leave before me also didn’t help. No one in the business was apologetic or even empathetic regarding having to be there for over an hour and a half for my son to get a horrible haircut. Still tipped the stylist as I’m not a monster. I immediately left this establishment and took him somewhere else so they could fix it. No stylists or employees in the salon are wearing masks. First and last visit. ????????
In response to you, I was sitting waiting for 15 minutes and nobody was at the front desk as you were cutting a little boys hair. I gave you time to finish as you were taking a payment, I walked over to let you know we had been sitting there in what I assumed was a waiting area although nothing is labeled in your establishment. You did not tell me that anyone was running late or that a stylist had called in I overheard you saying that to another customer who you took before me and who showed up after me while I was waiting to be checked in and no one had acknowledged my son and I. We arrived early to my appointment and nobody was there to greet anyone as the two people in the establishment were cutting hair. You cut another boys hair and a little girls hair (both of whom showed up after me) before we were able to leave. Also, if your response to me here as well as the responses I received while in your business, spending my hard earned money, is any indication of how you interact with your employees, I really can’t blame them for not wanting to come to work for you! Thanks! Honesty, communication and sincerity go a long way these days!!
Absolutely amazing the atmosphere they provide is very relaxed and from the moment we walked in we were greeted with a hello and a smile. For a children's hair parlor this is exactly the type of place I'd recommend to anyone looking for a haircut for their kid.
All three stylists that were there were friendly and took the time to make sure they helped the children with their hair, especially those who were not fond of getting their haircut.
My son in particular has not gotten a full haircut before and he did amazing they talked to him and kept him calm and focused the entire time.

I finally was able to bring myself to take my son in for his first haircut, and Hollylocks did not disappoint! Lacey was so calm, and patient, and she has such wonderful energy. She really took time to build trust with my son, and make sure he was comfortable with every part of the experience, from just getting in the chair, to introducing the shears. He was even able to watch his favorite show while he got his haircut! She asked us how we'd like his haircut, and really listened. He even got a certificate of first haircut, and they saved a lock of his hair for us, too! We brought my daughter in, too, just so she could start to get used to going, and being in the chair, and Lacey was fantastic with her, too. Super fun environment, and exceptionally caring staff!!
I completely understand that we all have different opinions about masks and mask mandates. It's frustrating, but following current guidelines is important. None of the hair stylists were wearing masks and when I politely asked our stylist to put a mask on, she was quite rude. She reluctantly put one on, but the rest of the appointment was uncomfortable and awkward. I do not think she did a very good job on my daughter's hair. We asked for a braid and the stylist only braided one side. Her hair looked incomplete. She was nice enough to my daughter and my daughter enjoyed the glitter, but our overall experience wasn't great.
I just took my autistic son in to have his hair cut and it was, finally, an amazing experience! He hates hair cuts and everything included, but the gal who cut his hair was so patient, everyone was very kind and welcoming. This will absolutely be our haircut place from here on out! 10 out of 10 would recommend!
