Quick Facts About Horizon Waterlooville Leisure Centre
Horizon Waterlooville Leisure Centre, based on the comments provided, has a mix of strengths and weaknesses. Some of its strengths include a good size pool, reasonably priced membership, spacious fitness area, and friendly staff. On the other hand, weaknesses include outdated facilities, overcrowding, and an inflexible swimming policy.
One of the strengths mentioned is that Horizon Waterlooville Leisure Centre offers good value for money with its membership. Unlike other gyms, this facility also provides access to a swimming pool, which is especially appealing to those who prioritize swimming as their main form of exercise. The pool is described as a nice size and well-maintained, along with attentive lifeguards. This indicates that the facility is committed to ensuring the safety and enjoyment of its members.
The availability of free parking and bike racks is also seen as a positive aspect of the center. This means that members can easily find a place to park their vehicles or safely store their bikes while they use the facilities. Additionally, there is mention of a café available on-site, although not extensively used, and the added bonus of a pool table in the lobby, which adds a fun element to the experience.
However, Horizon Waterlooville Leisure Centre does have some weaknesses that need to be addressed. One of the most notable is the outdated building. This suggests that the facilities may not be up to modern standards and could potentially be in need of renovation or refurbishment. Another weakness mentioned is the overcrowding at the leisure center. This could be attributed to the low membership price and the lack of viable alternatives in the area. The high demand for the center's services can be overwhelming for both staff and members, as it results in busier sessions and potentially less availability for certain activities.
Furthermore, an incident was reported where a family was asked to leave the pool due to a misunderstanding regarding swimming armbands. The comment suggests that the staff handled the situation poorly, which highlights a weakness in staff training and customer service. It is important for leisure centers to have clear and consistently enforced policies, along with trained staff who can handle potential conflicts or issues in a professional and understanding manner.
Other minor weaknesses include dirty and broken facilities, such as lockers and toilets, as well as the foul smell reported in the leisure center. These issues can create a negative experience for members and need to be addressed promptly to maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards.
In conclusion, Horizon Waterlooville Leisure Centre offers some attractive qualities such as good value for money, a well-maintained pool, and attentive staff. However, there are areas in which the center falls short, such as its outdated facilities, overcrowding, and incidents of poor customer service. These weaknesses should be acknowledged and addressed in order to improve the overall experience for members and to stay competitive in the market.

You get what you paid for. The club building is outdated. The fitness equipment is good and there is enough space. But it's very busy most of the time. This might be due to the low membership price and lack of good alternatives in the area. The staff is great and the pool is a good size.
Today (2/1/2023)we were swimming there were 5 of us and my siblings are 3,7 and 9 and their policy is you can swim if your over 8 and you have less than 3 children under 8, my mum and us were kicked out and shouted at simply because one of my sisters (9) wouldn't take her armbands off. They said that there was too many children who couldn't swim. We have read their policy it says nothing.
I am an ex-swimming club member and now a Horizon member, great that the membership also provides access to the swimming pool. I used to be a PureGym member but I get more for my money at Horizon by getting to use the pool. The memberships are great value. The gym and its facilities are good, but I use the pool more so I cant properly comment on all the gym equipment. The 25m pool is a nice size, lots of sessions available at different times of the day. Maintained well. Lifegaurds are observant. Plenty of free car parking and have never struggled to find a space, there are also plenty of spaces for bikes to be locked up. The cafe is nice but I dont really use it, the option of vending machines too. Theres a new addition of a pool table in the lobby which is a nice touch. Definitely recommend
Good 25m pool. Lifeguards very vigilant but rules prohibiting the use of training fins and paddles mean this pool is not a place to do swimming training.
Dirty facilities, broken lockers and toilets, incredibly rude staff and honestly the place smells foul. There are so many nice pools out there…I won’t be going back!
Used it many years ago when there was just then pool, now with gym and more, great place to regain fitness. Lots of classes to choose from. Go on you know you want to, join today and use most of the facilities for free, yes as a member, you only pay your monthly membership. Compares well with other gyms.
I went for the swimming pool it was a bit old fashioned but it has really good public swimming times and you can use the lakes in thoughs times. They have seprate ladys and men's changing rooms and a family one. You do need a pad lock for the lockers you can get one at reception for only £2.50 and then it's yours to keep. I also used the cafe here had a nice lunch and cup of coffie for a good price.
Changing rooms could be cleaned a bit more often and the cafe could stay open later, otherwise it's ok. The gym is well equipped. Once I've been a few more times I'll update the review.
