Lotus Nails was amazing! I needed to find a place to get a full set that same day, as I was flying out for my mom’s memorial early the next morning (I know, I should’ve made an appointment). But I called Lotus and they said if I could come in right away then they could do it. Super accommodating of them so I was already very grateful!
Then I went in and started the acrylics process. Again, me being a bad customer - I had only decided the night before I wanted my nails done - I didn’t know exactly what I wanted. I just knew I wanted yellow ombre. So I picked out the color, but then I started thinking it would be nice to get a design. My mom LOVED sunflowers, so I asked if it would be possible to get a sunflower design. The nail tech said absolutely, just show a picture of what you want. So I googled with one hand while my other hand was being worked on, found one I liked, and showed him. He did an incredible job on the sunflowers, and made sure mine looked even better and more realistic than the reference picture. He also checked in to make sure I was happy every step of the way, with the length, shape, color, everything. He even recommended I make the nail with the sunflower nude colored instead of yellow so that it would show up better, which I never would’ve thought of myself.
Then I asked last minute if I could also get gold foil, since I saw a picture with it that I liked. He said yes and got it out, but then pointed out that it wouldn’t be as noticeable and “pop” as much since my nails were yellow. So we decided to do gold jewels at the base instead, which isn’t yellow because of the ombre effect. When it was all done I left absolutely in love with my nails, so much more than I expected when I went in! I adore them so much and so does everyone who I’ve showed them to.
Overall, Lotus Nails was extremely accommodating, friendly, professional,
helpful, and most importantly amazing at their job while still being reasonably priced. I’m so happy to be able to honor my mom at her memorial with my beautiful sunflower nails and matching yellow dress (her favorite color). I just know they would make her happy too. It may sound silly, but having these perfect nails done in my mom’s memory has been a small comfort in this awful grieving process. So thank you Lotus!
I came in as a walk-in I got a pedicure for my boyfriend and I and then a full set for me which was just painted on French tips. My pedicure was fine they didn’t get any ingrown toenails out they didn’t even try which is the only reason I come to get pedicures there was also nail polish from my last pedicure left on my big Toes. But that wouldn’t have bothered me much if my nails weren’t as messed up as they are. I watched this nail tech take globs of acrylic and put it on my nail and watched it drip off my finger. He also cut my cuticle and just continued to drag my blood Onto the nail which you can now see under the polish. There’s air bubbles in every finger and they are so bumpy you can see it they also were so thick when I got home I had to file them down myself which is pretty hard to do once they’re already done. This also all took 4 almost 5 hours. Needless to say I will not be returning and this was an unacceptable experience for me.
The service itself was extremely enjoyable especially the mini foot massage at the end. My gel nails turned out really very pretty. The only drawback is the nail/chemical smell. Otherwise it was very enjoyable and everyone was very nice. I definitely recommend going here.
In town visiting and needed a dip set fixed ASAP. Tony did an amazing job fixing a bad set I got somewhere else. He was able to help me right away and fixed my nails exactly how I was hoping. I had a great experience here and will be back next time I’m in Boulder!!
My visit to Lotus nails was one of the worst experiences I have had at a nail salon. As a Vietnamese-American, I truly sympathize with small family businesses, especially nail salons, as my mom is also a nail technician. However, this experience had lingered in my mind and I have no choice but to write about how horrible my visit here was.
The nail technician who worked on one of my friend's full set was very rude and snarky. I do not know if she knew this, but I do fully understand Vietnamese and understood the comments she made underneath her breath. She complained the entire time with comments such as "this b*tch is so difficult" or "why is this guy trying to talk to me" when I would try to make small talk with her about the Vietnamese new year. She nipped at my friends cuticles until the point of bleeding, cursed at my friend under her breath when one of the layers came off because she tried to work on wet acrylic, and side eyed me and my friends the entire time. She walked away cursing when my friend asked for TWO jewels. This nail technician was so extremely unprofessional, sighing the entire time and joking about how "fat people with covid would not survive because they would not be able to breathe."
Furthermore, we have reason to believe that this was also racially motivated. I do not believe that she would have made these comments if my friend was white. She used language that was very demeaning and words that are used to put people down.
Our totals came out to $35 (basic manicure with TWO painted nails), $76, and $71 (2 full acrylic set with designs), which is an outrageous price to charge for chunky powder, sloppy shaping, and bloody cuticles.
I am completely on the side of workers retaliating back at rude customers and the mentality that customers are definitely NOT "always right". However, we were not rude! We were so extremely patient and understanding, especially because our own families are immigrants and non-english speakers. But when you are rude in front of our faces, complain when the customer wants small add ons, and have the audacity to also do a horrible job, we won't be complacent.
The one redeeming quality from our visit was the customer service from the other nail technicians. The owner of the shop was very kind and friendly. He listened to my friend's needs and tried his best on the design that she wanted. Most of the conversations I heard were very mundane, topics like the cold weather and sandwich shops that serve vegetarian banh mi and milk tea. Overall, the other nail technicians were great and I wish them well.
I came in for a acrylic fill and it cost more to get the fill than a full set. on top of that, the nail technicians were rude, and kept making me switch seats with someone else so that the same person could do both of our nails at the same time. And even further, the nails look horrible. none of the lines are straight and it looks nothing like my reference photo. The first photo is my nails a week after when the polish peeled off completely. This was gel polish... overall a terrible experience.
So I came here because I’m new in town and want a regular nail shop. Did my research, on google as well as yelp, came in and they told me they do dip, gel and acrylic nails. I was greeted by a hyper active man whom I assume is the manager/owner (Tony). I pick a color then Holly comes to do my pedicure. She rushes through the whole thing, doesn’t ask what kind of pedicure I want (later I saw they offered everyone else who came in a menu) and when it came to the cleaning of my toe nails she didn’t clip any of the cuticle around my toe nails, then when I asked about the pumice stone being dry she said it was fine… long story short she messed up my pedicure (polish on my skin) so Kelly came to correct the polish job and was even telling her about not clipping the cuticles. So then I am told they don’t do acrylic nails professionally when it was time for my manicure, say what? You just said you did, all ten of the chairs being used everyone is getting acrylic but they don’t want to offer it to me I guess. They try to have Holly do my manicure and I said absolutely not, so Kelly came to do it. A customer had the audacity to come to me and tell me that I made Holly cry???? What? She didn’t give me a pedicure I paid $47 for a polish change! Because my feet weren’t pumiced, my cuticles weren’t cut nothing… it was a rushed botched job and I complained because I don’t like wasting my hard earned money. When Kelly was done with my manicure she made a point in telling me people in Boulder take things slow they don’t do things fast… so I’m assuming Holly told them I wanted it done fast which is quite the opposite… I wanted to relax after moving that’s what you want to do! Take your time and relax get a massage, pedicure, manicure and relax…. I just find it absolutely hilarious that I wasn’t treated with the same dignity courtesy or patience/kindness as everyone else. They were all greeted with is this your first time questions, given menus for options of pedicures, profusely apologized to if they couldn’t accommodate something, and told when they were leaving to let them know if they had any issues and it would be rectified at no cost. I was given a rushed job (1 hour 10 mins for a gel mani and pedi plus the pedi polish job had to be done 2xs). Normally I’m 2 to 2 1/2 hours for a complete mani and pedi.
Got an automated response however when I called it was the high strung manager, Tony… this wasn’t going anywhere. As you see in the photo the experience was then satisfying
Update: Lotus significantly injured and damaged my nails and cuticles. They filed my nails so short and hard that it cracked down to the skin, and my cuticles are still damaged after they aggressively cut them until they bled.
came in with my sister to get manis and pedis. The technician spent about 1/2 the time on my pedi than the tech who did my sisters, and was super rude and aggressive. She cut my cuticle so it bled everywhere, yelled at me about how long it was taking, refused to answer any questions about the polish, and was literally pushing my hands aggressively after she filed each nail. She also filed my nails down to ugly little stubs, and the polish she applied immediately cracked and did a horrible overall job, as you can see in the pictures. One of the techs near us kept side eyeing here as she was yelling at us and after she made me bleed but said nothing. I can’t believe I just paid nearly $70 to be abused and walk out with horrible nails and injured hands.
