Quick Facts About Mama African Braids

Mama African Braids place has both strengths and weaknesses based on the comments provided.
One of the strengths mentioned by a customer is the quality of the hair styles. They mention that the twists are well done and look good. This suggests that the stylists at Mama African Braids place have a good skill set and can execute hair styles effectively. Another customer mentions that they have been to the salon multiple times and have always had a good job done on their hair. This indicates consistency in the quality of the work performed.
The salon also receives praise for the personalities of the staff. A customer mentions that the ladies at the shop have awesome personalities, indicating that the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. Another customer expresses their appreciation for Mama, noting that she is very good at what she does and is always there for her customers. This suggests that Mama African Braids place has staff who are skilled, professional, and provide good customer service.
Furthermore, the salon has taken measures to ensure the safety of their customers during the COVID-19 pandemic. A customer mentions that they were impressed by how serious the salon is taking the pandemic, with constant cleaning, proper spacing, and the use of masks and dividers. This shows that Mama African Braids place prioritizes the health and safety of their customers, which is an important consideration in the current climate.
However, there are several weaknesses highlighted in the comments as well. One recurring issue is punctuality. Multiple customers mention that the salon does not honor appointment times and that they have had to wait for hours past their scheduled time. This reflects a lack of respect for customers' time and can be frustrating for those who make appointments expecting prompt service.
Another weakness is the inconsistency in meeting customer expectations. One customer mentions that they were unhappy with the size of the twists they received, as it was not what they asked for. Another customer mentions that they showed a photo of the style they wanted but received something different. These instances suggest a lack of attention to detail and an inability to accurately fulfill customer requests.
Customer service is also highlighted as a weakness. A customer mentions that they had to go back to the salon because the twists started falling out within 30 minutes and the stylist did not inform them to use rubber bands. Additionally, another customer mentions that their stylist did not show concern when they expressed dissatisfaction with their hair. This indicates a lack of professionalism and a failure to address customer concerns effectively.
There are also issues with communication and pricing. One customer mentions that their appointment was rescheduled without proper communication and that the quoted price changed after the service was completed. These instances suggest a lack of organization and transparency in the salon's operations, which can lead to customer dissatisfaction and mistrust.
In conclusion, Mama African Braids place has strengths in the quality of their hair styles, the personalities of the staff, and their efforts to prioritize customer safety during the pandemic. However, there are weaknesses in punctuality, inconsistency in meeting customer expectations, customer service, communication, and pricing. These weaknesses can negatively impact the overall customer experience and should be addressed to improve the salon's reputation and customer satisfaction.

Took my 5 year old to get his hair done (he is mixed). Yes the twist are well done and look good but it wasn’t the size twist we asked for. And to be charged $100 for 2 strand twist is a bit ridiculous. I go anywhere else and it’s $65 INCLUDING a washing. Then to go home and the twist start to fall out in 30 mins. We call and they tell us to come back, so we do that and tell her we had to put rubber bands on within 30 mins and she tells us “I forgot to tell you to do that, cause we don’t do rubber bands”. So I spend $100 and you can’t even do that or TELL me before we leave? Hair was nice but not worth coming here price wise, didn’t do right size twist, and went back for no reason.
I went in at 430 told to come early when appt was at 530pm didn’t get hair done till 615 due to her needing to take a lunch. So 615 we get started 900 got done for a sewin in 6 braids leave and something told me to check the top of my hair and I see a whole track I go back to ask them to cover cause I sent a picture and a video she deletes the video as if she never got it. She then proceeds to tell me that is the style instead of sitting me down in fixing her work. Why would u want someone to leave after they paid and u got them looking like that. So boom she fixes it but does not heat my heat to at least hide in the weave and my hair is natural it don’t matter who u are I don’t let your client leave like this.
This was my first time to this business
- Not punctual. While completing hair styles, it's understandable that the stylist can run behind but acknowledge the waiting customer. My braider was 30mins past my appt time
- I showed my braider a photo of the style I wanted. That's not what I got. The style was not the same and the parts are not the same in size
- I watched a customer come if for her appt. The customers braider was in the back eating. The braider was made aware the customer was waiting. The braider continued to eat as the customer waited past her appt time
I have been to this salon more than one time and they did a good job on my hair that's why I continued to return. But if you schedule an appointment they do not honor that time. I have waited for hours past appointment time. I have came in the morning and I have sat there with several women saying that they have also scheduled an appointment. Today I came in at 9:00 a.m. to get twist done. I made an appointment last week. At 9:00 a.m. I was alone in the parking lot no one else was there. So I went to the store and came back around 10:00 a.m. the shop was open and several women were waiting also stating that they had made an appointment. I told the lady that I called last week to schedule and I also showed her in my call log . My name was not even written down in the appointment book. I ended up waiting for about another hour, until I just could not take it anymore. No one apologized no one offered anything for their mistake on the scheduling. I was very disappointed in the customer service.
I came for braids the two last times I went wasn't happy, appt at 9am they don start until 40mins later, the lady I told her how I wanted my knotless braids full in the front she did the opposite when I told her she asked me what did I want her too do with no concern on how she mess my hair up! Ask me why didn't i get box braids Unprofessional I won't be back! If I could give no stars I would!
I made an appointment on April 26 for a May 5th appointment the appointment was originally at one they called the day before and asked could I come in at 9.., I eventually got my schedule worked out and called them right back and we agreed on 9:30… get there at 9:15…mama didn’t get there until almost 11… she started on my hair then another lady came in she asked me if she could put 6 braids in the lady hair which was a lie… two hours later she starts on my hair … then she leaves for about an hour or so to go get food… comes back starts on my hair again only to take another break to eat…. Mind you I been there since 9:15 haven’t ate anything… long story short the hair style I showed her from my first appointment they quoted me one price … which I wrote in my phone and when she was done it was over a hundred dollars more…. Please get your price before they start on your hair… nevertheless to say I will not be returning here … they actually do good work but have no care for your time and the fact that they quote you prices and change them… The worst!!
I love this place because mama she’s very good at what she does I’ve never been let down yet and anytime you need her she’s right there for you thank you mama for all the good work see you soon!!!this is Tina.
My daughter and I always get our hair done at the shop. The ladies are great and have awesome personalities. The shop opened yesterday 5/23/20, I was very impressed how serious they are taking the COVID-19 pandemic. They were constantly cleaning and everyone were properly spaced and wearing masks. They also have added dividers to ensure the safety of the stylists and the customers.
Another great experience for my daughter and I today 7/25/20. Love the ladies in there.
