Mayas' Restaurant & Sports Cantina has received a range of comments from customers, highlighting both strengths and weaknesses of the establishment. In order to provide an analysis, it is important to consider these comments and reflect on the strengths and weaknesses mentioned.
Starting with the strengths, many customers have praised the food at Mayas' Restaurant & Sports Cantina. It is described as "quite good" and "wonderful." Specific dishes like the Chimichanga and shredded beef tacos are highlighted as being particularly enjoyable. This indicates that the restaurant has a strong culinary offering that appeals to its customers.
Service is another aspect that is mentioned positively by some customers. Comments like "great service" and "attentive and friendly" indicate that there are instances where the staff at Mayas' Restaurant & Sports Cantina provide good service experiences. One customer even mentioned that the restaurant stayed open past closing time to accommodate their needs, which demonstrates flexibility and a willingness to go above and beyond for customers.
Additionally, reasonable prices are highlighted as a positive aspect of the restaurant. This is important as it shows that the establishment is mindful of its pricing and offers value for money.
Moving on to the weaknesses, the most common criticism of Mayas' Restaurant & Sports Cantina is its lack of sufficient staffing. Multiple comments mention that the restaurant is understaffed, leading to slow service and a lack of attention. This indicates that management may need to address their staffing levels to ensure a better customer experience.
Another point of weakness mentioned by one customer is the lack of flavor and quality in certain dishes. The salsa, refried beans, taco shell, and flautas are all described as subpar. This suggests that there may be inconsistencies in the taste and preparation of some dishes, which can negatively impact the overall dining experience.
The ambiance of Mayas' Restaurant & Sports Cantina is also mentioned as a weakness. One customer describes it as "2-3 stars," indicating a lackluster atmosphere. Another customer mentions that the parking lot is extremely dark, which could pose a safety concern and negatively impact the overall experience of customers.
Further, there are comments about the cleanliness of the restaurant. One customer mentions a smell coming from their server, while another shares pictures of an unkempt bathroom and full trash cans. This indicates a potential lack of attention to cleanliness and maintenance, which can negatively impact the perception of the establishment.
Lastly, there are some comments about a lack of clear information or miscommunication. One customer mentions a lack of information about happy hour, while another customer states that the restaurant denied having sugar-free margaritas, despite a previous reviewer claiming they did. This indicates a potential issue with clear communication and consistency in the information provided to customers.
In conclusion, Mayas' Restaurant & Sports Cantina has strengths in its food quality and some instances of good service. However, it falls short in terms of staffing levels, taste consistency, ambiance, cleanliness, and coherent communication. Addressing these weaknesses could greatly improve the dining experience for customers at the establishment.

The food is quite good, the people are nice, but management fails to staff enough folks to provide halfway decent service. I feel bad for the staff, as they’re forced to wait on impatient, entitled, bigoted boomers without having the resources to do so.
Service is SLOW because they’re busy AND understaffed. Shame on the owner. They could benefit from visiting the Chinese restaurant a couple of blocks north of them, because those folks understand the value of having sufficient staff.
I enjoyed my Chimichanga immensely, but I’d recommend people pass this place and go elsewhere.
Great service .we got there 9:30 pm they close 10 pm but they let us in and let us finished our food after 10 pm .
Wonderful food and great service. My sister and I love to come here and we even get a bunch to. Go
This place was extremely disappointing. Stopped here on our way home from the river. We were one of only 4 tables in the place . They brought out chips and salsa and got our drinks right away but then they just disappeared. I had to go find someone to get our drinks refilled. The other family in the back room with us got up multiple times to find the young girl waiting on them. We had a middle aged white lady waiting on us that smelled she rolled around in an ash tray. She was nice and friendly which is the only reason they get 2 stars and not one. Now onto the food. Salsa was awful. It might have just been tomato sauce. Zero flavor. Refried beans were terrible as well. Completely bland which ruined my tostada as well. My taco shell was like eating rubber. My daughter didnt even finish 1 of her flautas. My son ate about half of his enchiladas. Only my wife finished her food and likely because she skipped breakfast. To top it all off.. the door on their bathroom grinds against the floor and they clearly dont know how to empty their trashes. See the pics.
First time at this restaurant and really enjoyed our meal. They were short staffed and our server was a very hard worker! The meat in the shredded beef tacos was savory. The salsa/chips were delicious and fresh. Clean and great atmosphere.
We came from the Earp side looking for a restaurant and only found this open on a Thursday night. Real hungry, our party of 4 had to wait a while because of only 1 server. After our menus, we didn't order right away. Now, we really waited! Asked about the happy hour, didn't get much info, so we hurried up to order. Server was quite busy. I was able to get a child's meal (senior), a huge burrito (wow), a cheeseburger, and an order special of tamales! Cheese enchilada is easy (good), fries were not cooked real well. Tamales were mostly masa! Don't know if we'll go again.
This restaurant was close to our hotel, so we decided to eat dinner there, and the food and service was good, but nothing to rave about. I ordered the taquitos and shrimp cocktail. Although both were good, there wasn’t enough guacamole provided for the number of taquitos, which was disappointing.
Ambiance was 2-3 stars. Parking lot was extremely dark, so I’d recommend they get a few lights to prevent future liability. We didn’t even know they were open except for another guest at the hotel, who told us they were and had just come from there.
Also, another person left a review saying this restaurant had great sugar-free margaritas, which was a completely untrue. They said they didn’t have sugar-free margaritas when I asked for one.
We stopped for lunch and are happy we did. The food was very good and service attentive and friendly. Our server suggested lunch-sized portions, which was appreciated.
Reasonable prices.
We sat on the sports side. It was casual and comfortable.
When we paid, we were given a 10% off coupon for our next visit; I expect we will use it on our route back home.
