Quick Facts About Morgans Traditional Chippy
Morgan's Traditional Chippy has received mostly positive comments, indicating several strengths of the establishment. The first strength mentioned is the quality of the fish and chips. Multiple customers have praised the perfectly fried fish with a crispy batter and good white firm fish inside. This consistency in taste and quality indicates a reliable and skilled cooking process.
Another strength highlighted is the nice, warm, and cozy atmosphere of the shop. This creates a welcoming environment for customers, making them feel comfortable and inclined to return. Additionally, the availability of seating and the option to eat in the cafe area adds to the overall experience.
The variety of fish options is also cited as a positive aspect of Morgan's Traditional Chippy. A customer specifically mentions the inclusion of hake, which is not commonly found in fish and chip shops. This indicates a willingness to offer diverse options and cater to different preferences, potentially attracting a wider customer base.
Reasonable pricing is another strength mentioned by a customer. This is particularly significant considering the comparison made to other cafes and restaurants in town. The affordability of the food could attract more customers who are looking for a cost-effective dining option.
Efficient service is highlighted as well. This implies that the staff are attentive, prompt, and capable of handling customer orders effectively. Efficient service can contribute to customer satisfaction and loyalty.
In terms of weaknesses, one customer expresses disappointment with the quality of the fish and chips since the change in ownership. The comment mentions thin and overcooked cod, smaller portion sizes, and excessive batter. Additionally, the chips are described as dry and overcooked. These negative experiences suggest a decline in the overall quality and standard of the fish and chips. It is important for the management to address these concerns in order to maintain customer satisfaction and positive reviews.
Another concern raised by a customer is the lack of meat in the rissole. Since the issue is specifically mentioned and photographed, it indicates a consistent problem. Improving the ratio of meat in the rissoles could enhance the overall dining experience and prevent customers from being disappointed.
The restricted opening hours for the cafe area are also mentioned as a weakness. Customers express their hope for extended hours in the summer. Expanding the opening hours could attract more customers who prefer to dine in rather than opting for takeaways.
In conclusion, Morgan's Traditional Chippy has several strengths that contribute to its reputation as a reliable and enjoyable fish and chip establishment. The positive aspects include the quality of the fish and chips, warm atmosphere, variety of fish options, reasonable pricing, and efficient service. However, there are areas for improvement, such as addressing the decline in quality since the ownership change, improving the meat content in the rissoles, and expanding the cafe opening hours. Addressing these issues and building on the strengths can further enhance the reputation and success of Morgan's Traditional Chippy.

Always see this place on my way home after work and thought of giving it a try and I'm very happy I did! Absolutely loved the fish and chips takeout I got. The shop has a nice, warm and cozy feel to it. Will definitely be coming here again! :)
By far the best fish and chips we’ve had!!! Perfectly fried fish, nice crispy batter and good white firm fish inside.
Decent portion size as well 10 out of 10, cane wait for my next lot.
Beautifully cooked fish and chips fried fresh to order. We had our food to eat in the cafe area but I'm sure takeaways would be just as good. Good choice of fish, including hake which you don't often get. Opening hours for the cafe a bit restricted but hopefully will be extended in the summer.
Best Fish n' Chips I've had in a long time. And reasonably priced.
It’s such a shame but since Morgan’s changed hands a couple of years ago, it’s just not the same. We have tried the cod and chips several times and have always been disappointed. The cod is thin and generally over cooked. Our pieces were very small in comparison to before and there was far more batter than fish. Gone is the nice thick, white and flakey fish and now just over cooked, dry and small portions. It could actually be pollock. The chips also seem to be dry and overcooked. I would question whether they are blanched prior to frying. It used to be the best fish and chip shop I’ve ever been to. Sadly, no more. ????
Really nice chips. The rissole could do with a little more meat as photographed.
Been going here for years, staff are great, food is reasonably priced especially compared to other cafes and restaurants in town, always go here if having a shopping day out with family, my children love the chips and sausage and my favourite is the fruity curry sauce, delicious. Portion sizes are very good, absolutely delicious food and highly recommend to anyone. Large variety of food choices. 10/10
Unpretentious little place with several tables and a brisk take-away.
Fish very tasty. Mushy peas are what the name implies.
Service efficient.
Good lunch.
