Starting with the strengths, it is evident that the braids done at this salon are well executed and look great. Customers mention that the braids are uniform, neat, and done with skill. They appreciate the neatness and the overall appearance of the hairstyles.
Additionally, some customers mentioned that they enjoyed their experience at the salon and found the staff to be friendly and personable. This suggests that the salon provides good customer service and creates a welcoming atmosphere for their clients.
Furthermore, some customers mentioned that they appreciated the communication from the salon regarding the length, price, and style of their desired hairstyle before the service was provided. This indicates that the salon takes the time to understand the client's preferences and ensure that there is no confusion or misunderstandings during the appointment.
On the other hand, there are several weaknesses mentioned in the comments. One common complaint is the lack of hair care knowledge and practices at the salon. Customers mentioned that the salon staff used a blow dryer brush on 4C hair without heat protection or necessary products, causing hair damage and discomfort. Another weakness mentioned is the inconsistency in the stylist assigned to the appointments. This indicates a lack of organization and communication within the salon, which can result in unsatisfactory experiences for the customers.
Furthermore, several customers mentioned issues with the scheduling system at the salon. They expressed frustration with long wait times and mentioned that the salon did not handle running behind schedule professionally. Waiting for hours without proper communication or options for rescheduling can be inconvenient and unprofessional.

In conclusion, while Mouna African Hair Braiding and Weave place has strengths such as skilled braiding techniques and friendly staff, they also have weaknesses including a lack of hair care knowledge, inconsistent stylist assignments, poor scheduling, and hygiene concerns. These weaknesses can negatively impact the overall customer experience and should be addressed by the salon management.

I’ll give credit where credits is due— the braids themselves looked great. Uniform, neat, very well done. However, these braiders know nothing about hair care. They tried to use a blow dryer brush on my 4C hair with no heat protector or product in it claiming it had to be done to part the hair. I could literally feel them ripping my hair out. The products they did have in the salon were cheap and sparse. The salon was unsanitary. They used the same combs and brushes on different clients without sanitizing them.
I scheduled and appointment with this shop based on a recommendation from a co-worker. When I made the appointment Mouna said she would be doing my hair, but she would have her sister start until she finished her 1st client. This didn't happen. I had 3 different people work on my hair for twist at different times. They didn't seem to understand the direction of not wanting the parts to small in the front due to hair breakage. The time to complete the twist was 8 and 30 minutes. They didn't comply with my request. The next day, I called Mouna and told her I was not requesting my money back, but I would like the braids fixed. After I shared the issue of the parts being too small in the front and big in the back, the curls falling out and the hair being frizzy. Mouna replied next time she would do my hair. I had to pay someone else to fix the other braids where the parts were too small in the front. The hair continues to unravel and simply not worth the $250 I was charged! This price did NOT include the additional $50 I had to pay someone else to fix the smaller braids in the front. This was UPSETTING and not a good business practice. I've since loss 3 additional braids. The hair is cheap, and the quality is EXTREMLY POOR!!! Enter this place at your own risk. I totally don’t agree with ANY of the reviews, but buyer PLEASE be aware! BTW.....my hair has been up for less than a week.
I Enjoyed my appointment at Mouna African Hair Brading. My Stylist Momie was very sweet abd kind.I loved my hair style, and got so many compliments from lot's of people everywhere I went. People was asking me " Who did your hair "?I definitely will keep going back to Mouna's salon..The braids are not thight, and I was able to sleep on them..The salon was very clean.
I love Mouna’s shop! She does amazing hair with neat braids. I haven’t found anyone that braids this good. She braids fast and my box braids last 3 months. I highly recommend her services!!!
2014.... So Temi and Nana took me. Temi wasn’t feeling well and I was a random walk in. They were about to leave for the day and still took me in! They were pleasant and quick and we even shared a laugh or two. Grateful.
3/2023.... I'm not tech savvy at all so here's an updated review, since idk how to get google to allow me to leave another. I was a walk-in, which I'm infamous for! And well, I asked for a style that every braiding shop around 5 separate towns wasn't capable of executing. Mouna's daughter had offered to try, and so I waited for her chair to get freed up. And she did a good job, I couldn't complain and honestly left satisfied as I always do from her shop! Mouna and her staff are always personable, sociable, and reasonably priced! They have a loyal customer here!!!
Very professional! They do a great job of communicating length, price, & style BEFORE you’re serviced as to eliminate confusion. My lemonade braids are very neat & are exactly what I wanted! They are tight, but not too tight as to cause discomfort. I love them! It was well worth the drive from Northwest Indiana! I will definitely be returning!
Mouna and her friends are great. Thought I was going to be there for hours waiting for my daughter. But it only took about 45 mins and she did a great job. People here are friendly too.
I had a 2'oclock appointment, I arrived at 2 and was asked if I could wait or do I live in the area. I lived 30 minutes away from the place. All the stylist were still working on people and had several hours to go. I had no other choice but to wait because I really wanted my hair done. I ended up waiting for three and a half hours before someone started on my hair. They have a major scheduling problem. When they are running behind they need to call their clients and ask them if they can come later or would they like to reschedule. Sitting around in a braiding salon waiting for hours isn't fun and it's not professional.
