Quick Facts About Nayram African Braid
Nayram African Braid Place, based on the comments provided, has both strengths and weaknesses.
Starting with the strengths, there are a few positive comments that highlight the good experiences customers have had at the salon. One customer mentioned that they had a wonderful experience at the salon and that the staff worked together to ensure their children were comfortable during the braiding process. The atmosphere in the salon was described as calming and peaceful, and the staff was caring and attentive. Another customer praised Nayram for helping them pick out the perfect style when they had lost all their hair, and mentioned that Nayram and her staff are knowledgeable and provide advice on hair care. They also commended the positive attitude of Nayram and her staff, as well as their ability to make customers feel beautiful and confident.
However, despite these positive experiences, there are several weaknesses that need to be addressed. One recurring issue is the lack of professionalism and reliability. Multiple customers complained about long waiting times, even with appointments. One customer mentioned that they were told to come in on a certain day but had to wait for over two hours before being seen. Another customer booked an appointment and had to wait for 15 minutes before being informed that there was no one available to braid their hair. This lack of organization and time management can be frustrating for customers, especially those with busy schedules.
There are also complaints about the quality of the braiding services provided. One customer mentioned that their hair was not retwisted properly and came out worse than before. Another customer mentioned that the braids they received were not neat and to their liking. There were also concerns about the lack of skill and ability to braid hair, with one customer stating that the first braid they received was sloppy and the part was not straight. The inconsistency in the quality of the braids and issues with the final results indicate a lack of expertise and attention to detail.
In addition, there were complaints about miscommunication and language barriers. One customer mentioned that there was a language barrier with the person braiding their hair, which made it difficult for them to express their preferences and concerns. This lack of effective communication can result in misunderstandings and unsatisfactory outcomes for customers.
Another weakness mentioned is the high prices and overcharging. One customer felt that they were overcharged for a hairstyle that was not done properly. There is also a complaint about the lack of licensed braiders, which raises concerns about the professionalism and expertise of the staff.
Based on the comments provided, it is clear that Nayram African Braid Place has some areas that need improvement. The salon should focus on improving their organization and time management to ensure that customers are seen in a timely manner. Additionally, they should invest in training their staff to improve their braiding skills and attention to detail. Efforts should also be made to improve communication with customers, especially those who may have language barriers. Lastly, reviewing their pricing structure to ensure fairness and transparency would be beneficial for customers. By addressing these weaknesses, Nayram African Braid Place can work towards providing a better overall experience for their customers.

The only reason I’m giving this place two stars and not one is cause from my experience the lady doing my hair wasn’t a unpleasant person other Then that my experience wasn’t that great I came in for retwists and they crocheted my hair and that was it, they didn’t part my hair nor did they fully retwisted my hair and truth be told my hair came out worst(pics below) Basically 80 dollars wasted, the people in there aren’t horrible people and they could probably do regular styles but if your coming in here with locs(mature or starter) and is expecting a decent retwist dont entertain coming here. although it’s hard to find one in rockland I suggest you find a reputable loctition it might be costly at first but it’ll save you having to spend more money again knowing ur hair was done correctly
Yet another unprofessional, unreliable salon. These people must not think we collectively have anything better to do than sit around and wait for hours, even with an appointment. I called the owner on the listed number, and she said we have no appointments today, but come anytime on Monday. We stopped by on Monday. I would have understood if we had to wait a short while, but she said it would be 2 1/2 hours until she was free. I booked an appointment for 3:30pm the following day. When I showed up, there were three people working and 4 customers. 15 minutes into my wait, a 5th customer walked in for an appointment. Long story short, we left. My six-year-old was very disappointed and didn’t understand. How do you make 5 appointments for roughly the same when you only have three people working, and it can take hours to braid someone's hair.
We had a wonderful experience at the salon today. They worked together to make sure my 8 and 6 year old were comfortable while getting their hair braided. You can tell they care and the atmosphere in the salon is calming and peaceful. Keep up the great service.
So I happen to Google and found this shop . I decided to give it a try for my sons cornrows . My original appointment was at 6o'clock , I wasn't seen till 7:40 . I ask for stitch braids and was told they don't do stitch braids on boys ( Wth is that right ? ) I allowed her to do regular cornrows and they came out horrible . I informed her these braids were not neat nor to my liking , she walked away from doing my sons hair and told me to wait for someone else . Don't recommend this place at all
NAYRAM is wonderful. She initially assisted me with picking out the perfect style when I lost all my hair. Now that it has grown back, she knowledgable on all crochet, braid, lock styles and my hair is always in the most flattering way. She always tells me the condition of my hair and always advises me as to what can be done given the delicate condition of my hair. Nayram and her staff have a wonderful positive attitude. Her kindness and attention to detail make it a wonderful experience. She and her staff help you make selections that will make you feel beautiful and confident through all growing stages, she and her staff will make you look your best. I highly recommend this place
Paulette did such a great job on my braids. I was attended immediately and right on time for my appointment. So happy with my braids and I will definitely be returning. Recommend 100%!
I have been getting my hair braided in Harlem for 23 years when you start parting my hair I can tell if you can braid or not!!! The first braid was absolutely sloppy and the fact that she told me $120 for a hair style that u could not do and the fact that I have been getting my hair done in Harlem and I know what is really good. The braid was very sloppy and the part was not straight she took it out before I could take a picture… She then told me to wait that someone is going to do it after waiting for 20 mins I asked who was doing it they told me no body!! So rude and unprofessional!!! I am familiar with the owner and I know her braiding hair styles are amazing!! I tried to support my community but this is the reason I can not support local black business!!! I will continue to drive to Harlem New York. Do not go here they over charge and can not braid!!!!!! They take advantage of people who don’t know too much about braiding. They need more professional licensed braiders
I want to start off by saying that this review does not define the entire shop it defines the woman who braided my hair and the other woman who was translating for her. I WAS initially happy with the final result of my braids UNTIL 2 days later they were already hanging as if they were in for months!!!!!!! I was supposed to have an appointment with Suzanne at 2:45 which I booked through their company website with booksy. I wasn't seen until 3:43 by someone else. My hair is very curly and was already detangled yet she still used the wrong kind of brush and clumps of my hair were ripped out which I am beyond livid about(photo provided). They then tried to apply the blow dryer to my head after ripping out a lot of hair with the brush and I had to tell them multiple times no my hair is getting ripped out and I don't apply heat to my hair multiple times because their was a language barrier with the person that was doing my hair. I had to keep telling them my hair was already detangled and to stop and her using that brush ripped out my hair. They did not know how to brush or comb my hair texture 4c. The braids could have easily been done with the way my hair was when I walked into the shop. I asked for large box braids since they are less time consuming and received a mixture of medium and large box braids they are all different sizes. I asked for diamond parts and have small box parts.I also showed pictures of what I wanted and it still didn't go that way. They had someone translate for me and I still didn't receive exactly what I wanted and that is honestly poor customer service. MONDAY... 2 DAYS LATER....the hair is hanging and the braid is dangling as if it was in for 3 months. I had to take another taxi to this shop to have them cut off the hair I purchased then I had to help take out the braids on the bottom row in the back , a few on the left hand side towards my ear, and a couple on the right hand side near my edges. My braids are mixed and they didn't take the time out to mix the replacements so they are all solid colors which I didn't want and didn't originally have. This did not solve my problem. It.s now Wednesday and the braids that were not fixed which is the majority and they are too loose. This is beyond unacceptable and I am going to request for all my money back in the morning so that I can get my hair done the right way in Harlem or the Bronx. I work a lot and don't have a lot of time to myself and my time cannot be replaced nor can the taxi fares I paid twice going there and twice going back home totaling 45$. I appreciate the time that was taken out but this is not lasting and I do not deserve to spend all this money on a style that should last 2-3 months and it hasn't even been 1 week yet. I genuinely feel like this is unacceptable. The pictures are provided below. I hope no one else experiences having to waste their time on their only 2 days off the way I did. I will be calling in the morning to see if I can be refunded because after two trips I just don't feel comfortable getting my hair done there based off my first experience
