Quick Facts About Rock Star Sushi Bar

Rock Star Sushi Bar has several strengths that make it a standout restaurant in London. Firstly, the comments mention that the food is of exceptional quality, with one reviewer claiming it to be the best sushi they have ever had. This highlights the expertise and skill of the sushi chef in creating delicious and authentic Japanese dishes. Additionally, the use of authentic ingredients emphasizes the restaurant's commitment to using high-quality, traditional ingredients, which adds to the overall taste and authenticity of the food.
The attentive and friendly service is another strength of Rock Star Sushi Bar. The waiter is described as passionate about the food and willing to guide customers in their choices. This personalized service creates a welcoming and enjoyable dining experience for customers, making them feel valued and well taken care of.
The intimate atmosphere of the restaurant is also mentioned as a strength. Despite its small size, the restaurant is described as casual and welcoming, without a stiff atmosphere. This creates a cozy and relaxed environment for customers to enjoy their meal and adds to the overall charm of the place.
Another strength highlighted by the comments is the innovative and unique combinations of flavors offered by the restaurant. The menu offers a wide range of options, including some unusual and creative combinations such as smoked salmon, cheese, and passion fruit. This demonstrates the chef's creativity and willingness to experiment with different flavors, providing customers with a diverse and exciting dining experience.
In terms of weaknesses, one comment mentions that the rice dishes ordered were the same, despite being advertised as different. This inconsistency in the menu offerings may be disappointing for some customers, especially if they were expecting a distinct variety of flavors.
The filling of the mix of gyozas is also criticized for being too garlicky, making it difficult for one reviewer to eat. This suggests that there may be a lack of consistency in the preparation of dishes or a potential oversight in flavor balance.
Another weakness that is mentioned in an updated comment is that the restaurant has changed since the initial positive reviews. While the specifics of the changes are not elaborated on, the reviewer suggests that the restaurant is not as good as it used to be. This highlights a potential inconsistency in the quality and experience of dining at Rock Star Sushi Bar, which may affect customers' overall perception and satisfaction.
Additionally, one reviewer mentions that the restaurant does not take walk-ins and is not suitable for large groups. While the small size and limited seating may create an intimate atmosphere, it can also be seen as a drawback for those looking for a spontaneous dining experience or who are part of a larger group.
Overall, Rock Star Sushi Bar has notable strengths, including high-quality food, attentive service, innovative flavors, and a cozy atmosphere. However, potential weaknesses include inconsistencies in the menu offerings, potential changes in quality, limited seating capacity, and a lack of suitability for walk-ins or large groups. It is essential for the restaurant to address these weaknesses to maintain its reputation and continue to attract customers.

Best TL Reviews

Basically this place is so good I don't want to tell you about it in case it gets too busy. If you like Japanese food, polite service, authentic ingredients, and the Izakaya culture, then this is the only place to visit in London.
We ordered with glovo
a rice with chicken and a healty rice with a mix of gyozas
the two rices made no difference, they were the same with the same ingredients and the mix of gyozas had a filling full of garlic. Unfortunately I couldn’t eat…
positive note: the delivery guy, really fast and professional
UPDATED THE BELOW:
The below is how this used to be a year or so ago. Just went recently (June 2021) and it's changed so much. It's not bad now but it's just not the same as what it used to be. A real shame.
-----------------------------------
I think this is the best sushi I've ever had.
It's a tiny place which might put some people off but it's casual and welcoming so no need to worry about walking into a stiff atmosphere.
The waiter is clearly passionate about the food and very friendly. Feel free to let him guide you as they don't just want to sell you as much as they can. He'll recommend based on your needs.
My needs are just loads of salmon and kampachi sushi/sashimi and like I said - best I've ever had. Including various trips to SE Asia.
Quite expensive but cheap for what you get. Can't recommend it more highly.
This has to be one of the smallest restaurants I've ever visited, with just one sushi chef and one waiter, and just twelve seats. It's an amazing place though: very intimate and extremely good food.
It's worth noting that this place doesn't take walk-ins; you need to make a booking, and it's not going to be suitable for large groups.
We were initially unsure of the place because we received a call to ask if we could reschedule; the restaurant didn't have many bookings for our chosen evening and I think they wanted to move us to another evening, but thankfully they agreed to keep our booking because we were only in town for one evening.
The level of service is amazing because our waiter was able to take us through the entire menu, explaining what each thing is and whether it's an appropriate choice. There's a nice selection of Asian beers and some soft drinks as well.
Food is beautifully presented and it tasted amazing. I've eaten a lot of sushi but I'd be hard pressed to find better than this. Fish is some of the usual things like salmon and tuna, but also some unusual fish, including special items that won't be found anywhere else.
The combinations on offer are really innovative, like smoked salmon, cheese, and passion fruit. There's a huge range for such a small place, as well.
Considering that usually, to get sushi of this quality, presented in such a nice setting, would set you back a fair amount, this restaurant has really well priced food. We left the place quite full of delicious seafood and it didn't empty our wallets at all.
In particular, the wasabi is made fresh from the root, and not from a powder or paste common at other places.
Our waiter was good enough to point out which items on the menu could be changed to accommodate food allergies, and even some special soy sauce is available.
This place is a real one-of-a-kind gem and we left absolutely delighted that we had taken the chance on it. I will definitely look to return if I'm ever in the area again.
Fantastic service, amazing food such a brilliant evening!
My husband and I came for dinner. We had such a wonderful time. All of the food we ate including the smoked salmon, eel, gyoza and kamapatchi were out of this world. We loved the dry sparkling sake that went so well with all of the food. The waiter we had was so helpful, friendly and attentive he made our evening special.
Tiny sushi restaurant with only 12 seats. Amazing personal service with Igor the owner will love to tell you everything about the history of the place and the dishes. As the location is out of London the prices are bearable however slightly expensive. Nonetheless they are worth for the quality and amazing taste you get.To have a proper dinner for 2 expect to spent approx. £100 including drinks. Overall if you around the area it's definitely worth it.
I rated this place 5 stars on the night and just adding my reason now....
It was simply the best sushi I have had in the UK in the USA (sorry haven't been Japan yet).
The black cod is simple exquisite with no bombardment of flavour that some restaurants feel they need to produce. The simple great ingredient speak for themselves.
The guys who owns this place and is really cool and will tell you anything about the food you might be interested.
This is a really small place so hard to get a reservation and some people have said in their review it is distracting that there is rock music.
But I think that is great as it is a real unique restaurant and the owner is still simply there to show case his food and the back rock music isn't laud anyway....our baby actually loved it :-)
A great little restaurant
This is truly a hidden gem. The quality of some of the fish I had here was truly exquisite and some of the best tasting sushi I have ever had. The staff are friendly and keen to help guide you in your choice. Be aware the lunch menu is sometimes very limited and the evenings are usually reservation only.
