If I could give zero stars I would. Once me and my girlfriend even step foot inside the door way we were stared at by both workers not greeted but just stared at. Once we began to look around and pick up the items we needed it seemed like both workers were hovering over us almost seeming like they thought we were going to steal. Me and my girlfriend immediately felt uncomfortable and decided to place the things we were going to buy back.
I just read these reviews & one review stood out to me. It stated how the customers were not allowed to exchange a belt AFTER being told they could with a receipt. Not ever a week later they went to exchange the belt & they would NOT do it NOR would they give them their money back & kept threatening to call the authorities. Well, TODAY , April 17, 2021 was the VERY FIRST day I EVER shopped at SK Beauty Supply.. I got 5 items... I was checking out & one of the employees charged my card "by accident" .. I was waiting to put my pin in then all of a sudden, a receipt printed out.. I asked her if it charged my card & she looked at it & said NO... SHE swipes my card AGAIN ... I put my pin in... It charges me.. She hands me the 2nd receipt & throws the other one away..Ok cool. I check my card ANYWAYS bc she really seemed LOW DOWN & it charged me 2x . smh I called back up there & they had me come up there to "show them" .. So I did... I showed them where it charged my card 2x AND the EMAILS I got confirming the CHARGES !!! ALL THREE of the employees were up there "looking" for the 1st receipt.. So I let it be known that she threw it away... But she put her finger up at me & told me no.. She didn't... Was VERY RUDE... They told me that the "only way" they'll "know" if They charged me 2x, is if I wait til Monday & get a bank statement showing that I got charged 2x ???????????????? they offended me. They insulted my intelligence. They were disrespectful. & they continue to steal from paying customers.... NEVER.COMING BACK HERE AGAIN!!!
Over the years, this beauty supply store has come a long way. I used to hate coming to this store because they would always follow you around like everyone was a theft & made it very uncomfortable to shop. They've had the same owner(s)/employees since I've moved over there in 1997. They expanded a few years ago & have a much larger selection, everything you need you can find it without having to go to multiple stores, they're much more friendly & they do not ride your back. I have gotten a love for this store & the employees and would recommend to anyone in the area.
I've been living in Lithonia for over 15+ years and always supported this store until recently. I've patronized and visited this store many, many times with my daughter who is currently 10yrs. I finally got WOKE. I've seen it on TV many times but it's different when it's in your face and confronting you.
Me and my daughter were looking for some hair products. For the first time, I noticed 3 of the women working there were following us in EVERY aisle we visited. My daughter even noticed it and asked, "why they were staring at us and following us." Not too mention it was all of the customers, not just us.
The straw that broke the camels back.... My daughter and I were about to check out and decided to look at some lip products in line. The three women were surrounding us as we looked at the products. I turned my back to go check out and suddenly the women were like, "she has the lip balm in her pocket", " we saw her", etc. etc.. They were talking about my daughter and accused her of stealing the lip balm product. I'm not going to lie, I KNOW my child, but I am ALWAYS fair and not one of those kind of parents that is like "my child would never do that" but i did defend my daughter because I do know her. But the three ladies were just going in. My daughter is looking and saying, " Mommy my dad bought this for me some weeks ago, i didn't steal anything." My instincts stuck and I defended my daughter to the women; however, my daughter pulled out a lip balm out of her pocket that was the same brand as the ones she was looking at. I questioned myself. I looked at the other same type of products and noticed they all had stickers on the bottom and were orange/red, EXCEPT for the one my daughter had which was yellow and the ONLY color that they did not have in their stock. I took it from her and placed it back. All 3 women swore they saw her steal it. So out of "fairness" because the product was the same and not used because I opened it up , I paid for my my hair products , questioned myself, my daughter and the situation out of fairness until I could get the facts.
I was UPSET. I called my daughter's dad with her sitting there. I asked him if he bought her "THAT" particular lip balm. He confirmed what my daughter had said. I felt ashamed, upset and mad at myself. My daughter is crying and kept telling me she didn't steal anything.
The point is. This was a lesson to BOTH sides. However, if I patronize a store and give them my money, I should not feel like we are "CRIMINALS". I have definitely given this store over my 15+ years of living here thousands of dollars because hair products are pricey! I should have ordered off of AMAZON with my PRIME shipping. From MY experience, 100% of the patrons are African Americans. WE fund THIS business and are treated like criminals.
ALL nationalities commit crimes. I DON'T ever want to give my HARD EARNED money to a BUSINESS that we help PROFIT where me and my young child are FOLLOWED like CRIMINALS or ACCUSED of like CRIMINALS. THINK HARD ABOUT YOUR DOLLARS, YOUR FUTURE AND YOUR CHILDREN!
I shopped at this beauty supply at Panola Crossing for over 15 years and never had to exchange or returned anything before. Last Saturday my husband purchased a few items including a belt for our daughter but wasn’t sure if it would fit, so he asked the owner if the belt can be exchanged and he said yes with the receipt. In less than a week my husband and I tried to make an exchange with the receipt and even purchase more items but a woman that was there refused to make the exchange claiming that the condition of the belt was no good on a belt that was never used. After being insulted, mistreated and even being Threatened to call the authorities on. We decided for our own sanity and dignity to let them keep the belt and the money. This was my wake up call to finally stop shopping at SK Beauty because Prior to this I noticed that they would always follow me and other people of color around even when I have just my wallet in my hands but that didn’t bother me because I knew that I am not a thief. The bottom line is they are not to their word and do not care to treat their customers of color with respect they just want our money and look at all of us as dishonest & thieves. I WILL NEVER EVER PATRONIZE THIS STORE AGAIN.
I like this beauty supply store but the owners tend to watch your every move. I wish they would really allow people to shop and get off of the heels of everyone who walks in the door. If you cannot afford to be open and allow people to shop... Close your business down!!!!
Has a good selection products. Owners are always nice and helpful. Prices are reasonable.
It's great to have this shop in our neighborhoods. they truly do attempt to stock their stores according to the need of community here. The owners are just as kind as can be.
