Wow. This is one of those old-fashioned resorts that are disappearing from the American landscape. The rooms are very comfortable and large, although a bit dated. The grounds are beautiful and there is a lovely heated swimming pool. They have horseshoes and bocce ball and it is close to Great stores and restaurants. I wish we had been able to stay for a week. I truly loved this place. Oh, the best part is that it is very pet-friendly! I am sad to report this wonderful, historic, resort has closed! Shame on Scottsdale.
This is a great place to stay. The rooms are so cute and clean. They have everything you need. It is very quiet and so pretty. You don't even feel like you are staying in town it feels like you are in the country. Each room has is own patio and the grounds are beautiful. Highly recommended.
This place is a hidden gem! Each room is a personal bungalow, the grounds are breathtaking and the service is top-notch! The landscaping is green and mature- I almost forgot I was in Phoenix! It has a family atmosphere that makes you instantly feel comfortable. There are complimentary bikes (and helmets!) a half-court basketball court, a little home-like gym packed full of any equipment you can imagine and a small pool that is nestled in a beautiful gated area that has grills and comfy lounge areas that make it easy to forget the world outside. And we stayed for less than $100/night! I was blown away that I didn’t even know this place existed and fell in love with it almost instantly. We already extended our stay and will definitely be returning again!
Smoketree Resort is an older resort owned and managed by a family. Each room opens on a large shaded green area, each with a patio and chairs. It’s a restful, quiet place to stay, and it’s our local favorite. There are refrigerators and coffee makers in the rooms, and there is a upscale grocery store nearby. Prices are significantly lower than other Scottsdale/Paradise Valley resorts or motels. It doesn’t look impressive from the road since there is a closed restaurant in the front, but once you drive around to the rooms, you find a sweet and restful retreat.
We love Smoke Tree!
My family and I meet in Phoenix every few weeks and we have been staying here every time because it's the best value and there are great rooms and a nice pool. Very nice family run place, always helpful and pleasant! It's also nice and quiet with a chill vibe and retro flair. I fully recommend staying here, it's a solid find.
Went here as a staycation and had a fantastic stay! The pool area was quiet and serene. There were trees, a little creek and plenty of seating. The room was very clean, had a huge walk in closet and the furniture reminded me of something I’d see in a cozy lodge. This was exactly what I was hoping for when we saw it online. I highly encourage anyone to stay here.
They put a $75 deposit hold on my account twice, so instead of $75 being unavailable in my account $150 is unavailable. Now I have to wait until Monday to have access to those funds. When I called Smoke Tree to address this, the woman working there insisted they only put a $75 hold. She had a poor attitude as well. I told her multiple times my account was showing they charged it twice. She would not admit they messed up. I called the bank and they confirmed this place put two $75 holds for a total of $150.
The first room I was in the TV wasn’t working so I had to switch rooms.
Also, gratefully, I booked this room through a discount site so it was only $90 a night. The site said it’s normally $270/night. If that’s the case, it is definitely not worth that rate. There are many better options in that area for $270 a night, with more amenities and a friendlier staff. I would encourage you to go where they appreciate their customers, not here.
Very dirty. Very old. Bad smell. The stuff for coffee was their but no coffee maker. The toilet was broken. The painting looked like a child was mad. The mirror in the bathroom was very low could not see myself. It may have been remodeled in the 80s. There was the different glasses. Oh yeah they were all dirty. I doesn't bother to complain the whole place was not up to pare.
