Quick Facts About Sub Hut
Sub Hut is a sub sandwich shop that has received both positive and negative feedback from customers. In order to assess the strengths and weaknesses of the establishment, we will analyze the comments provided.
One major strength of Sub Hut, as mentioned in several comments, is the quality of the sub rolls. Reviewers have praised the excellent taste and texture of the rolls, noting that it can be difficult to find good quality subs in the area. This suggests that Sub Hut prioritizes using high-quality bread for their sandwiches, which can be a major selling point for customers seeking a delicious sub experience.
Another strength highlighted by a customer is the taste of the subs themselves. They specifically mention enjoying the Philly steak and cheese and Italian sub, stating that both were excellent. This positive feedback on the taste of the subs indicates that Sub Hut is successful in delivering flavorful and satisfying sandwich options to their customers.
The fried pickle spears also received positive feedback, with one customer describing them as delicious with just the right amount of spice. This demonstrates that Sub Hut offers tasty side options that complement the subs well, providing customers with a well-rounded dining experience.
Prompt customer service is another strength mentioned in one comment. The customer appreciated that their order was prepared quickly, with a wait time of approximately 10 to 15 minutes during a lunchtime visit. Efficient and timely service can greatly enhance the overall dining experience and leave a positive impression on customers.
However, Sub Hut also has some weaknesses that customers have pointed out. One recurring issue is the inconsistency of customer service. In one comment, a customer states that when they called the restaurant to report a mistake in their order, the manager hung up on them before they had the chance to resolve the issue. This indicates a lack of professionalism and poor customer service, which can leave a negative impression on customers and deter them from returning to the establishment.
Another weakness raised by customers is the decline in quality since the change in ownership. Some commenters mention that the menu has been cut and items listed on the menu are sometimes unavailable. This suggests that the new management may be struggling to maintain consistency and availability in their offerings. Additionally, customers mention that the understaffed team appears to be inexperienced and flustered, leading to potentially compromised service quality. Inconsistency in menu options and inexperienced staff can negatively impact customer satisfaction and the overall perception of the establishment.
Furthermore, one customer expressed dissatisfaction with the preparation and flavors of their sub. They described the sub as not being toasted as requested, excessively oily, and unappetizing. Negative reviews regarding the taste and quality of the food can significantly impact the reputation of a restaurant and discourage potential customers from trying their offerings.
In terms of aesthetics, Sub Hut was identified as lacking in that aspect. One comment mentions that there is not much to the place visually, but that the quality of the subs and fair prices made up for it. While aesthetics might not be the most critical factor in assessing the quality of a sub shop, a more visually appealing atmosphere can enhance the overall dining experience for the customers.
In conclusion, Sub Hut has several strengths, including the excellent quality of the sub rolls, tasty sandwich options, positive customer service experiences, and fair prices. However, the weaknesses of inconsistent customer service, declining quality under new ownership, menu availability issues, inexperienced staff, and negative feedback on the taste of certain subs indicate areas that Sub Hut should address to improve customer satisfaction and maintain a positive reputation.

We took the recommendations and tried the Philly steak and cheese and an Italian sub with a side of fried pickle spears. We had the subs with the works. The sub rolls are excellent, it's been toughing finding good subs down here. Both of the subs were excellent. The pickles were delicious as well with a little bit of spice. Definitely a new favorite for subs.
Hi pleas let me know when you are open I've been by there several times between 3 and 4pm but your always closed thanks
The food smelled good but once I got home my partner realized he didn't have cheese on his Philly. He called the place back and spoke to the manager to tell her the issue. Within a minute of telling her the issue she hung up on him. He didn't even get the chance to ask for it to be remade. It was crazy! We hadn't eaten there in probably 5 years and won't be going back. This person should not be managing anything. Never experienced this level of poor customer service. There's too many other sub shops that would like our money and taste a lot better.
Quality has decreased noticeably with new ownership. They have cut the menu and don't even have all of the items on the shortened menu. Seems to be understaffed & the staff they do have is inexperienced and flustered. Sub Hut has been a local favorite for years and I hope the new ownership is able to get it together before the reputation is ruined.
Not too much to this place aesthetically speaking, but the subs were great (steak and cheese and ham and cheese) and prices were fair. We didn't call ahead and waited maybe 10 to 15 mins for our order at lunchtime.
Got an “Italian” sub and was supposed to be toasted and clearly was not. There was 5 pounds of oil on it, lettuce that looked like a week plus old and the flavors of the sub sucked. I will not recommend this place what so ever and doubt I’ll ever eat there again.
I lived in Hopewell my entire childhood. I spent my first few years of life 2 blocks from this shop. I moved to Chester when I was 17. The older I've gotten, I've had fewer reasons to come to Hopewell but throughout the years, when I do come back I try to make a point to stop in here because it's always remained largely unchanged (which is a great thing in this case). I've always enjoyed sandwiches from Sub Hut. The steak and cheese and the meatballs (I remember when you could only get meatball subs on Thursday and Friday and if you didn't get there early enough, they would he gone) are my go to choices. Fast forward to the reason for this review. I was in the area this afternoon and despite it being Labor Day, I saw they were open so I popped in. Right away I noticed that they had expanded from a small cubby of a building to now include the next door building which serves as a spacious dining room. Next I saw the sign that made me a tad nervous. "New Owners: 7-12-21". My first thought was that my childhood nostalgia sub shop had vanished. Then I noticed the menu looked near identical to what my memory served. I ordered my typical steak and cheese sub and fries and sat down to wait. About 5 minutes later the owner came out and apologized that her fryer was acting up so she wasn't sure she would be able to make my fries. She then offered me a replacement of banana pudding which I happily accepted. I mentioned that I had forgot to order a drink and before I could even offer to pay, she asked what I would like and had it filled. At this moment I thought "ok, the food has always been great here but the service has never been THIS good". A few minutes later and my sandwich was ready. When I saw my sandwich wrapped in the classic white deli paper with the little grease spots on the ends, a wave of feel good nostalgia rushed over me. I know this seems dramatic but I can't help my feelings! Everything was exactly how I remembered it. The bread was soft and fluffy, the steak was seasoned perfectly, the yellow American cheese and mayo mixed to make an almost cheese sauce. Right as I was finishing my sandwich, the cook came over with the fries that they didn't think they would be able to make for me! I know they probably already had them dropped and would have thrown them out if they didn't give them to me but it was still a kind gesture.
To wrap things up, Sub Hut is and has always been what I consider a hidden gem. It's a very "locals only" vibe but the new owner seems to know exactly what they are doing! I will definitely be back sooner rather than later!
