Quick Facts About The Red Lion

The Red Lion in Wilstead has both strengths and weaknesses based on the comments provided. Let us begin by discussing the strengths of the pub.
One of the strengths mentioned by a customer is the friendly and helpful bar staff and landlords. This is a crucial aspect of any pub experience, as it contributes to the overall positive ambiance of the place. Friendly staff can make customers feel welcome and create a more enjoyable atmosphere.
The hanging baskets at The Red Lion are also mentioned as a strength. This suggests that the pub pays attention to its exterior and creates an inviting and aesthetically pleasing environment. This can attract more customers and enhance their overall impression of the establishment.
Another strength mentioned is the good ambiance, which indicates that the pub has a pleasant atmosphere. A good ambiance can greatly influence customers' experiences and make them more likely to return in the future.
Additionally, a customer notes that the Red Lion is a popular place, as it attracts locals, family groups, and football teams. This indicates that the pub has successfully positioned itself as a community hub and provides a welcoming environment for various groups of people.
The Red Lion also receives praise for its tasty traditional food. A customer mentions having an excellent roast dinner on Remembrance Sunday, which suggests that the pub offers quality meals. This positive feedback can encourage potential customers to visit and try the food for themselves.
Now let's address the weaknesses mentioned in the comments.
One customer had a negative experience with the food, stating that it was poorly cooked and served in old oil. Additionally, they mention that the manager behaved in a juvenile and unprofessional manner when they complained. This incident highlights a clear weakness in the pub's food quality and customer service. If these complaints are frequent, it could damage the pub's reputation and deter potential customers.
Another weakness mentioned is the rude manager and their handling of a complaint. Rude customer service can greatly impact customers' experiences and discourage them from returning to the pub. It is essential for the management to address this issue and ensure their staff members provide exemplary service.
In terms of the pub's ambiance, one comment suggests that it feels more like a locals' place than a special occasion restaurant. While this may not be seen as a significant weakness by some, it could potentially limit the pub's appeal to a wider audience, such as those looking for a more upscale dining experience.
There were also comments about the limited seating and functional toilets, which could be seen as weaknesses. Insufficient seating can make customers feel cramped or discourage large groups from visiting. Functional toilets are expected in any establishment, but if they are not kept clean and maintained properly, they can create a negative impression.
In conclusion, The Red Lion in Wilstead has several strengths, including friendly staff, pleasant ambiance, attractive hanging baskets, and tasty traditional food. However, there are also weaknesses, such as inconsistent food quality, rude management, limited seating, and functional toilets. These weaknesses should be addressed to ensure a positive overall experience for customers and to maintain a good reputation for the pub.

Today it was the turn of the Red Lion in Wilsead to have us check them out. A pleasent, if not your quintessential pub but was first licensed in 1671 to Grace Freeland. Had a refreshing John Smith and a cool Fosters. Fantastic hanging baskets and a good ambiance.
been to red lion wilstead few times and bar staff, landlords were fab.
con club b team played briarbank for consolation darts Cup match great night as we won 12-9.
Nice, clean, consistent pub. Could only be improved by stocking Thatchers cider in my opinion.
Right to begin. Food was poorly cooked. Fish was served in oil older than my grandad. We complained and the manager acted very juvenile with attitude refusing to hear the complaint. He was telling is how we should be complaining. Outrageous isn't. How would you feel if this happened to you. It felt like i could not convey my complaint at all. Chips were not as salty as the managers attitude. Outrageous behavior and attitude
Good local pub. Tasty traditional food. We arrived Saturday afternoon, a party of 9 (kids and adults), and had a lovely time. Local footie team came in after the match plus a couple of family groups. Looks like a popular place.
Awfull service very rude Manager beside he was aproched twice about the way he handle the complaint should you want to be well served and looked after just avoid .
Manner you grown with so is not something you pick and I guarantee neither the voice or the attitude are kept to a professional level .
Good luck with keeoing up the business with this sort of attitude
Split into two, with a bar on one side and restaurant on the other, it's a traditional style pub but feels more like a 'locals' place than a special occasion restaurant. The bar man was really friendly though and helped put initial fears at ease and sport was being shown on the TVs to create a decent enough atmosphere. The toilets are functional and there's not a huge amount of seating but with the roaming dog it felt authentic!
Don't let any initial reservations stop you staying, it's actually not too bad.
Excellent roast dinner on Remembrance Sunday provided for members and family's of the Wilstead branch of the RBL, service and food couldn't be faulted and Chris and the staff, as always, were friendly and welcoming. Thank you
