Quick Facts About A Nails Astoria
A Nails Astoria has received a mix of positive and negative comments, providing insight into their strengths and weaknesses. In order to analyze these comments and provide a comprehensive overview, let's break them down into different categories.
1. Quality of Service:
Positive comment: "My mom came to visit and we got our nails done at A Nails. They turned out great and the techs did an amazing job. I'll be back in soon!"
Negative comment: "Usually the service is great. But this time, there was no response to friendly conversation. Ok fine. You don't have to talk to me. But when it came time to paint my nails, he dumped out the samples. 'This is what I have'. I asked if he had glitter polish. He kept saying no small. I said, what about French tip? He said no. It wouldn't look good. He pointed to the samples and said that's what I have. I realized he was saying that he didn't have small brushes. Uh ok. I then described what I wanted (which was a solid color with two stripes in another color) and he said he'd charge me an additional $55. What?! I guess he really didn't want to do my nails! He was rude and curt the entire time."
Strengths: Based on the positive comment, it can be inferred that A Nails Astoria usually provides excellent service, with skilled technicians who deliver great results.
Weaknesses: The negative comment indicates a lack of personal interaction and poor communication skills by one staff member. The limited selection of nail polish colors and the additional charge for a specific design request also highlight some limitations in terms of customization.
2. Hygiene and COVID-19 protocols:
Positive comment: "My experience was a definite 5/5. Kim was very professional and efficient. The shop was clean and all Covid protocols are in place, including Kim giving me the nail file and brush she used on me, so nice to know they take hygiene very seriously."
Strengths: The positive comment highlights that A Nails Astoria takes hygiene and COVID-19 protocols seriously. The fact that they provide individuals with their own nail file and brush suggests a strong commitment to cleanliness.
3. Customer Service and Friendliness:
Positive comment: "Every time I go in, I receive great service. I typically see the husband; he always makes conversation and is very friendly. I leave loving my nails every time!"
Negative comment: "I called earlier in the day to schedule an appointment and she said to come at 2:00. I was there at 2:00, and there was someone sitting in the chair who had just sat down. And I said I'm here for my 2:00 appointment. She asked the woman in the chair if she had an appointment, and the lady said nothing. So instead of honoring my appointment, she started the lady's nails in front of me. I asked her how long it would be, and she said, have a seat. I left because when you have an appointment, you are to honor that. You don't know what a person has going on."
Strengths: According to the positive comment, one staff member, presumably the husband, provides excellent customer service, making conversation and creating a friendly atmosphere.
Weaknesses: However, the negative comment highlights a negative customer service experience, where the receptionist failed to honor a scheduled appointment, leading to frustration and disappointment.
4. Pricing and Value:
Positive comment: "Thank you, Kim, for the excellent service and the excellent price of only $41 for a complete Acrylic nail refill with gel polish."
Negative comment: "I was going to Vegas and had my nails done here. Two days later, the day I got to Vegas, the gel fingernails started coming off, and my gel pedicure nails started coming off a week later. Several of the toes' polish came off in one big piece. Not worth 100 bucks for not lasting that long."
Strengths: The positive comment praises the salon's competitive pricing, considering the quality of service received.
Weaknesses: The negative comment expresses dissatisfaction with the longevity of the nail treatment, suggesting that the durability did not meet the expectations despite the higher price.
5. Professionalism:
Negative comment: "Very rude, and they overcharged my sister and me. My sister's nails were crooked. We paid twice as much for a fill, and they have the nerve to ask for a tip. If they have been doing nails for over 30 years, I expect it to be flawless. And they just called my sister just yelling and cursing at her just now. Very unprofessional. We will take our business elsewhere. I do not recommend them at all."
Weaknesses: The negative comment brings to light issues of rudeness, overcharging, poor nail quality, and unprofessional behavior, including yelling and cursing at a customer.
In conclusion, A Nails Astoria possesses several strengths, including overall quality in services, a clean environment, and an affordable pricing structure. However, weaknesses exist in terms of limited customization options, inconsistent customer service experiences, issues with durability, and instances of unprofessional behavior. While some customers had positive experiences, it is important to acknowledge and address the negative feedback to improve the overall reputation and customer satisfaction at A Nails Astoria.

My mom came to visit and we got our nails done at A Nails. They turned out great and the techs did an amazing job. I'll be back in soon!
I don't know what happened. Usually the service is great. But this time, there was no response to friendly conversation. Ok fine. You don't have to talk to me. But when it came time to paint my nails, he dumped out the samples. "This is what I have". I asked if he had glitter polish. He kept saying no small. I said what about French tip ? He said no. I then described what I wanted( which was a solid color with two stripes in another color) and he said he'd charge me an additional $55. What?! I guess he really didn't want to do my nails! He was rude and curt the entire time. I didn't care for the selection and I went there to get something cute. So I just decided to leave. I paid $35 for the fill, told him I was disappointed and upset (which he didn't have a response to) and left. I don't know what that was about but I'm never going back there.
This was my first time to A Nails as I'm a Canadian travelling through the U.S. I almost wasn't going to go because of the review score which was only 3.8. (before I went). I do know though with reviews, people are more apt to leave a negative review than a positive one, so you always have to take ratings with a grain of salt.
My experience was a definite 5/5. Kim was very professional and efficient. My acrylic nails took only an hour from start to finish and were the best set I've had done in the past 6 months of travelling in the U.S. The shop was clean and all Covid protocols are in place, including Kim giving me the nail file and brush she used on me, so nice to know they take hygiene very seriously. Kim also spoke English well and this shop is run by herself and husband, so wonderful to support a local family business. I would HIGHLY recommend A Nails. Thank you Kim for the excellent service and the excellent price of only $41 for a complete Acrylic nail refill with gel polish.
