Quick Facts About African Queen Braids
African Queen Braids Place has both strengths and weaknesses based on the comments provided. In terms of strengths, several customers mention that they do an excellent job on braiding hair. This indicates that the quality of their work is commendable, and customers are generally satisfied with the end result. Additionally, one customer mentions that they love the way their hair is done, highlighting that African Queen Braids Place has a skillful approach that leaves no strain in the kitchen area. This positive feedback suggests that their styling techniques are effective and result in a desired final look for customers.
Furthermore, the comments reveal that African Queen Braids Place offers box braids, a hairstyle that seems to be popular among customers. This indicates that the salon specializes in this specific type of braiding, which can be seen as a strength. Additionally, the fact that hair is provided for the service is another advantage mentioned by one customer. This suggests that African Queen Braids Place takes care of the customers' needs by offering convenience and ease in the process.
However, there are several weaknesses highlighted in the comments as well. One of the major concerns is the customer service provided by African Queen Braids Place. Multiple customers express dissatisfaction with the customer service, noting that it is challenging and unprofessional at times. They mention experiencing attitudes from the staff, and some customers even describe instances of discrimination by the older lady who sits at the front of the shop. This indicates a lack of professionalism and courtesy on the part of the staff, which can greatly impact the overall customer experience.
Another weakness brought up is the salon's inability to braid without adding weave. Some customers mention that they requested their hair to be braided without weave, but the stylists were unable to accommodate this request. This suggests a limited range of braiding techniques and an overreliance on weave, which may not suit every customer's preference or hair type.
The small size of African Queen Braids Place is also mentioned as a weakness, with one customer noting that the front porch is deteriorating and needs improvements. This could create a negative first impression for customers and may deter potential clients from entering the salon. Additionally, the comment about the need for renovation suggests that the overall appearance of the salon may not be up to par, which can affect the perception of professionalism and quality.
Finally, there is an instance mentioned where a customer was asked to pay an additional $80 to remove knots from their hair after already paying $200 for the service. This raises concerns about the salon's pricing and how they handle unexpected issues that arise during the styling process. This lack of accommodation and unprofessional behavior can greatly impact customer satisfaction and loyalty.
In conclusion, African Queen Braids Place has strengths in terms of their skillful braiding techniques and specialization in box braids. However, their weaknesses lie in poor customer service, difficulty accommodating certain requests, a small and deteriorating physical space, and a lack of professionalism in pricing and handling unexpected issues. Addressing these weaknesses would greatly improve the overall customer experience at African Queen Braids Place.

Went today to get box braids. Took seven hours, only one person on my head. $220 for hip length and hair was provided . I did a walk in but I recommend setting an appointment
It was very small place and the front porch is deteriorating need work done. But they do an excellent job on braiding hair
So as I’m typing this situation is occurring right now!!!! This is the most horrible service I ever experienced in my life!!!!!! I’ve been getting my hair braided for years and never in my life has anyone told me they “couldn’t” braid my hair because it is too thick… then the old lady that sits in The front of the shop The Instigator (she has to be no younger than 64) sits and talk about people in their language, I had to say something to her 4 different times. She then started to say we don’t accept people with THICK hair and I said that’s discrimination and OFFENSIVE!!! So as her worker started to blow dry my hair she began to say my “scalp” was dirty and I have A scalp condition which means sometimes it may seem a little flaky after I explained that to her ignorant self infront of the entire shop they began to catch attitudes. As she is proceeding to do my hair they are now talking about the other young lady who walked in and began saying her kid that was (14) couldn’t sit in the shop on her tablet and then she was explaining her French braids she wanted and said we don’t over hand we under hand and FRENCH BRAIDS IS FRENCH BRAIDS no matter which way you braid wether it’s under or over !!! I’ve never heard a salon that makes excuses why they can’t do a hairstyle! Then she proceeded to walk around asking to see the cash FROM CLIENTS !!!! Then she cut the lady hair next to me without permission the OLD LDY !!!!! This whole salon is out of order, discriminates people , dirty, dropping combs and proceeds to place it in your hair without washing like they are out of order !!!!!!! If I could give a zero I WOULD !!!!!!! Then soon as you say something about them or do they same thing they do to us we are the bad guys and racist and I’m a black girl I’m very disgusted with this place and the customer service I received
I love the way they do my hair, not leaving a strain in the kitchen
The customer service is not good. They also don’t know how to braid without adding weave. It costs $40 for only 2 braids. And they complain while doing your hair if it’s thick... maybe better for box braids, but I’ve never gotten them. They also put an excessive amount of jam. I tried showing a picture and asked for my hair to be braided without weave but no one in the salon could do it apparently. Also braid very tight and are hard on edges
It’s required to make an appointment, which I did. I had a 9am appt Saturday. I get there & I’m informed that my stylist would in by 12. No set time just by 12. I was never called & informed my stylist would be late I’m told when I get there on top of I had to wait 2hrs before my stylist arrived with a 9am appt. So I get my hair done & they want the full price for my style. They made no accommodations for the inconvenience they caused me. Unprofessional & dissatisfied with the customer service.
They do great hair. The customer service is challenging at times. Some days they are ok and some days the attitudes are horrible. The shop needs to be renovated. It looks horrible.
They are very unprofessional and made me cut my hair out because my soft locs where knotted in my hair and they wanted me to pay $80 to get it out after I paid $200 and paid for my hair separately because they didn't provide that hair the style required. Smh
