Quick Facts About Blackburn Hospital Canteen (Grane Restaurant)
Blackburn Hospital Canteen, also known as Grane Restaurant, appears to have a mix of strengths and weaknesses based on the comments provided. In this analysis, we will discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the canteen in detail.
Starting with the strengths, one recurring theme is the freshness and quality of the food. Many commenters mentioned that the food is always freshly made and wonderful. The menu seems to offer a variety of options, including hot and cold food, hot puddings, salads, sandwiches, fresh fruit, and yogurts. The prices of the food are also highlighted as being reasonable, which is a positive aspect given the context of a hospital setting.
Another strength of the canteen is its convenience. It provides a respite for visitors and patients who may need a break from appointments, treatments, or visiting ill relatives. It seems to be a popular choice for individuals who are looking to relax and have a cup of coffee or a meal. Additionally, the canteen seems to serve its purpose well by catering to the needs of doctors and nurses, who also frequent the place.
Moving on to the weaknesses, one common complaint is the limited choice of food. Some commenters mentioned that the selection was not extensive, and this might be a drawback for individuals looking for more variety or specialty dishes. Furthermore, the canteen is described as more of a cafeteria or a canteen rather than a restaurant. It lacks the ambience and comfort that one would expect from a restaurant setting, which might impact the overall dining experience.
Another weakness mentioned is the service. While some commenters found the staff helpful and friendly, others had negative experiences. Two of the serving staff members were described as rude and off-hand. Additionally, it seems that customers have to do everything themselves, including food service and cleaning tables. This self-service aspect may be inconvenient for some individuals who prefer a more traditional dining experience.
The noise level is another weakness pointed out by commenters. The canteen is described as being very noisy, similar to a kids' school dinner hall. This might not be ideal for individuals looking for a quiet and relaxing environment while they dine.
The overall cleanliness of the canteen is mentioned as a weakness. Tables were sometimes described as unclean, which might affect the perception of hygiene within the establishment. The use of vending machines for drinks in paper cups and food served in take-away trays was also criticized, as customers might prefer more environmentally friendly options.
In conclusion, Blackburn Hospital Canteen has several strengths and weaknesses. The strengths include the freshness and quality of the food, reasonable prices, convenience for visitors and patients, and its popularity among doctors and nurses. However, the canteen also has weaknesses such as the limited food choices, self-service nature, noise level, lack of comfort, inconsistent cleanliness, and negative experiences with some staff members. Improvements in these areas could potentially enhance the overall dining experience at Blackburn Hospital Canteen.

Blackburn hospital canteen is really good. Just the place to come for a coffee or cooked breakfast lunch or tea time. So nice to get away from all your problems & to have some hot or cold food. The food is always freshly made & is wonderful & the prices are good too. My fave place to chill after appointments & treatments. You can take a break when you are visiting ill relatives or you are here for appointments & there is a long waiting time. Very nice hot puddings & desserts & always lots of fresh fruit & yoghurts. Salad options too if you just want a light lunch or meal & lots of different fresh sandwiches & juices too
Very limited choice in food, service is ok, u have to do everything yourself, sometimes table are clean and sometimes not
Definately not a restaurant, very noisy just like a kìds school dinner hall. Two of the serving staff were rude and off hand.
I feel very sorry for the hard working doctors and nurses that have to use this place they deserve a relaxing environment. The food was not great. Drinks from a vending machine in paper cups and food served in take away trays, the place looked untidy tables not clean.
I gave it 3 stars because the staff must work hard to produce the meals but they can only work with what they've got. Its people above them that should improve things.
I don't like hospitals anyways. And it takes a long time for your turn. Not cool I went here when I had a bad chest
Good and well priced, however very noisy and very hard to traverse when at busy times and you need to remember this is used by the staff too.
It is more like a canteen, then a restuarant. Lpts of tables and chairs, not much space or comfort.
i didnt eat here but judging by the numbers who were it must be good. I was in the hospital all day. The Drs and nurses, not forgetting the tea lady were all kind, thoughtful, knowledgeable, explained everything very well, took great care of me and fixed me up with pills to help my heart until I have my angiogram
Good, honest food, decent selection, very reasonable prices and pleasant enough surroundings. Ideal if you have to stay at the hospital for a good part of the day.
Nice restaurant the food was tasty (tuna bake chips garlic bread) and reasonably priced staff were helpful and friendly
