Quick Facts About D K & Amy African Hair Braiding
D K & Amy African Hair Braiding appears to have both strengths and weaknesses based on the comments provided.
Firstly, a common strength mentioned by several customers is the speed and efficiency of the braiders. Multiple individuals comment on how quickly their hair was completed, with one customer mentioning that a braid down only took 30 minutes. Another customer praises the young lady named Pepe for her quickness and the fact that she handled their hair with care, avoiding excessive pulling and snagging. The fast service is seen as a positive attribute and may attract customers who are looking for a quick hair braiding experience.
Another strength highlighted in the comments is the cleanliness of the salon. One customer specifically mentions that the facility is the cleanest they have seen in any braid shop they have been to. This speaks to the professionalism and attention to detail of the salon, which can contribute to a positive customer experience. Additionally, the professionalism of Amy, one of the braiders, is commended by a customer who appreciated that their hair was not braided too tight, as requested.
The longevity of the braids is also acknowledged as a strength of D K & Amy African Hair Braiding. One customer states that their braids always last and do not fall out. This could be a significant advantage for those who are looking for hairstyles with staying power.
However, there are also several weaknesses mentioned in the comments that could potentially impact the reputation of the salon. One recurring complaint is about thin twists due to big partings. A customer expresses disappointment in the amount of hair used for their Senegalese twists, which they feel was inadequate compared to their natural thick and full hair. This could indicate a lack of attention to detail or precision in the braiding techniques used by the salon.
Another negative aspect mentioned is the rushed service. One customer claims that their hair was done in five hours and feels that it was rushed, indicating a lack of thoroughness and attention to detail. Additionally, this customer received a text message stating that their business would no longer be welcome due to their unsatisfactory hair. This suggests a lack of professionalism and customer service on the part of the salon.
Furthermore, miscommunication and unclear pricing are also mentioned as weaknesses. One customer expresses frustration over not being informed about the starting price for their braids, leading to unexpected costs. Additionally, there is mention of the salon not providing hair for braids with colors, without mentioning this beforehand, causing inconvenience for customers who were not aware that they needed to bring their own colored hair.
Lastly, there is a complaint about poor customer service from the owner, who allegedly lied about the salon not offering a specific service. This negative interaction with the owner has deterred the customer and their family from ever visiting the salon.
In conclusion, while D K & Amy African Hair Braiding has strengths such as fast and efficient service, a clean facility, and the ability to create long-lasting braids, there are notable weaknesses including issues with precision and attention to detail, rushed service, miscommunication regarding pricing and services, and poor customer service from the owner. These weaknesses may need to be addressed in order to improve the salon's reputation and attract more customers.

I was a walk in but was very lucky due to another stylist from a different place cancelling on me at the last minute. I have two - three inches of hair (growing it back out) and they were able to complete a braid down for me in 30 minutes for a crochet style. Fast and very efficient. I will be returning after scheduling an appointment with them!
Don’t go here!!! Mimi is no longer in the shop!! They made my Senegalese twists so thin due to big partings. All of the hair they put in my head is the same amount of hair I would normally have for one quadrant of my hair. Mind you my natural hair is thick and full but my twist are not. I am very disappointed in the style and it is noted that I will never ever return to the shop. Before I can pull off I received a text saying my business will no longer be welcome there due to the unsatisfactory of my hair. My hair was done in 5 hours and totally rushed. I work too hard to be throwing away my money. So pick somewhere else!!
First time here and the young lady name (Pepe) I do believe did a phenomenal job on my hair. She is QUICK. Also it was a last-minute day of thing but I was in and out. Very clean environment sweet ladies! I would definitely refer and come again. Oh and this young lady also made sure she handle my hair with care (NO obsessive snagging pulling or pushing) she used as much products to protect my hair and edges as I would. Awesome experience here just all around! NOTE: No kids alowed
I was visiting family and from out of town and had an appointment with another stylist whose shop was closed and had moved to her home. I found these awesome ladies who were able to get me in (same day that I called) and did a great job on my kinky twist! Great location and facility. Very clean and very professional. Amy did my hair and did not braid tight (as I requested) and did great work. The location was great and her facility was very clean. Cleanest I have seen in any braid shop I've been to. Def recommend.
Love them great my braids always last and never fall out!!
Often times women are reluctant to get braids because they’ve experienced hair loss with their edges in the past. That’s one thing you DON’T have to worry about with this establishment. I’ve gone to them for quite some time along with my mom and we absolutely love their work. If I’m not able to get my hair from Queens Crown Beauty Supply store due to time constraints, they have hair in stock for your convenience. I highly recommend them for their quality of work and prices.
It was a great service. Got there at 9 and they started doing my hair right away. It only took 3 hours to get my entire head braided. I also had 2 people in my hair and they worked hard and diligently and I was finished in GREAT time. The only reason why they didn't get 5 stars is because of miscommunication about information. I thought prices go by the size braids you want, so I was under the impression of getting the $150 size. But apparently because of the thickness and length of my hair my starting price would have been $180, so I wasn't prepared for that. Also they provide the hair for box braids but failed to mention that if you want to add some color in your hair, you must bring your own hair then. Otherwise, I would recommend this place to others. They work fast and do a good job.
Called to get 2 braids. Owner answered and said they DO NOT DO 2 braids. What braid salon doesn't do 2 braids...WOW..just the fact she lied cause she's money hungry has deterred me and my family from ever stepping into this salon..ill drive 2 hrs to Richmond for the most courteous and sufficient hairbraiding services in VA.
