5. Insufficient attention to hair health: A customer with black hair mentioned that their hair was not properly washed or conditioned, and that no oils were applied to the scalp. They were disappointed with the lack of focus on maintaining the health and integrity of their hair.
In conclusion, the Dominican Hair Salon place has strengths in providing excellent service, skilled hairstylists, good hair washing, and positive experiences with specific hairstylists. However, there are weaknesses in terms of communication, expertise with certain hair types, overpricing, inconsistency in service, and insufficient attention to hair health. It is important for the salon to address these weaknesses in order to improve the overall customer experience and reputation of the salon.

I love ❤️ the lady who washes my hair, she does an amazing job. Stephanie the hair dresser, I used to like her a lot until on day I was on there waiting for her for 3 hours. I went in at 12:15p- I left the salon at 4:10p. I only return because I love when my hair is washed. I do go down the street where they do a much better blow out!!

If you have 4B/4C hair, you're better off finding somewhere else. This was my first time here and I spent almost the entirety of my time there listening to them complain about how much hair I had and how bad/burnt it was. I asked for rollers and they kept pushing me to blow dry because it's "faster" and they didn't want to take long, even though I made it clear I was doing rollers. I was even asked if I've seriously done rollers before and where because it was so hard for them to believe that it was manageable. It was ridiculous how against doing rollers they were, considering there was only one other customer in the salon almost the entire time I was there.
Keep in mind, this is the healthiest my hair has literally ever been. I do not have burnt ends of any sort, yet I was also urged multiple times to get a trim. She pulled out scissors while my rollers were being done and I immediately said I didn't need that.
If they see you have any type of curly hair, they use the highest heat possible because they think it's necessary to get it "as straight as possible". Considering how much they slandered my perfectly healthy curly hair that I do maintain regularly at curly salons, that told me that they are not as knowledgeable in hair care as they claim to be. The blowdry was good but the rest of the service was unprofessional to me. Sad about this experience since I'm new to CT and saw this was the highest rated Dominican salon in Hartford.
Rates are also a bit overpriced; they start at 45 and it's based on the length of your hair. They claim it's because of the labor + quality of salon products, but I can guarantee you the products that were used on my head that day were not the best (I even caught the lady washing my hair using a cheap drugstore leave in conditioner, which shouldn't even have been used for this service. I had to make her wash it out before drying my hair) I've never paid the amount that I paid here at any other Dominican salon. I'll continue making my trips to Boston whenever I need my hair done.
(ENGLISH) These women are complete liars saying that this wasn't my first time at this salon. I just moved here from Boston and have never seen any of these women in my life. If I've supposedly been to your salon in the past, then show me all of the receipts. My review has nothing to do with feeling content, it was just to tell my experience to others looking into the salon. Y'all should have more respect for your clients. They spoke to me, making comments as if I had a "nest" on my head and they were all acting like they didn't want to service me. Again, this review is to tell others about the experience, not because I care what you think + have to say. I'm also not looking for the "perfect" service, but I do think you can train yourself and your workers to keep rude commentary ABOUT clients to yourselves. That's called having MANNERS. Learn how to talk to clients online because it looks like you have a habit of wanting to cause problems with people online.
I started going to Dominican Sarah February, 2017. The first picture shows 2 weeks after my big chop. I arrived with damaged hair, left with healthy hair. I was so afraid to go that short but, Sarah assured me my hair would grow back fast & healthy. The second picture shows her maintaining my curl pattern. No heat damage, no breakage, no dryness. The third & fourth picture shows my hair being dyed blonde. Again she maintained healthy hair my hair actually grew longer after I dyed it. I highly recommend this salon. Any texture hair sarah & her TEAM gets the job done ✔️ Fast & professional service
Not really good with black people hair, she barely washed my hair... she put water, lathered and barely massaged shampoo through scalp, sat conditioner on hair for 2 seconds (no exaggeration) rinsed it off, no rollers just straight blow out, barely flat ironed my roots which is leading to puffy roots, didn’t apply any type of oils to my scalp like I have gotten before... this hasn’t even happened in the past of going to any Dominican shop, I will not be returning... the point of going to this type of salon is for them to help your hair become healthy, I don’t see this happening for me.
Below is a picture when I straightened my hair(pink shirt) vs when they did(white shirt) ..
Melinda was very nice. She was knowledgeable of what I wanted done to my hair. She doesn't speak much English but she was able to translate into English through her phone when she didn't understand me. I had a color, plus treatment, blow dry and I would definitely be going back. I also wanted to point out that I have 4C natural hair and was a bit skeptical because of the 2 negative reviews she received regarding 4C hair texture but I'm pleased with my results
Thank you
Just want to start off by saying I was a little nervous as I started seeing the reviews about black hair when I was already in the chair getting blown out. I didn’t have a long wait at all, my stylist had red hair but I don’t know if it’s someone different or new. She washed my hair fast but thoroughly (3x… my hair was literally squeaking it was so clean) & she conditioned and detangled me gently in the bowl! I am natural with what I believe to be a mixture of 4b & 4c hair so I think she managed my hair well. My hair is also VERY THICK & very fluffy so she did a great job with sectioning and dealing with it as she went. I requested a blow out…typically with those you don’t get a roller set (saw a complaint so I wanted to clarify on that) they just blow your hair straight with the hair dryer and a round brush. My hair was absolutely perfect when she was done with the process which also includes flat ironing the hair after it’s blown straight. Very satisfied. The price point blew me away as I am used to paying wayyyy more for my hair because of the thickness! I got it wrapped up to leave so no pictures unfortunately but my hair is so silky and flowy! Very pleased with my service & visit. Will be making them my go to salon!
