Quick Facts About First House Chinese Restaraunt

First House Chinese Restaurant, located in Talladega, has received a variety of comments from customers. By analyzing these comments, we can determine the strengths and weaknesses of the establishment.
One of the strengths mentioned by customers is the quality of the cuisine. One customer claims that First House has the best Chinese food in Talladega, while another customer expresses their craving for the food even after being away from the area for over ten years. This indicates that the restaurant has established a reputation for serving delicious Chinese cuisine that customers frequently enjoy.
Another strength highlighted by customers is the friendly and patient staff, particularly Ms. Wendy. Customers appreciate her patience and attentive service, which enhances their overall dining experience. Friendly staff contribute to a positive atmosphere and can encourage customers to return to the establishment.
Additionally, the portion sizes and prices at First House are mentioned as strengths. Several customers note that they receive a substantial amount of food for a great price. The Happy Family lunch special is specifically mentioned as a favorite option for its value. Offering generous portions at affordable prices can attract customers and contribute to their satisfaction.
However, several weaknesses are also discussed in the comments. One customer mentions difficulty hearing on the phone when ordering, which can reflect poor communication and customer service. Additionally, the lack of a buffet and only having drive-thru service may be seen as a limitation for customers who prefer dine-in or take-out options.
Some customers express disappointment with the quality of specific dishes. Dry and reheated beef dishes, undercooked shrimp, and rice that is lumpy and lacks flavor are mentioned as issues. Inconsistent quality in certain dishes can detract from the overall dining experience and may discourage customers from returning.
The comments also mention the appearance of the building, which is described as "shady." While the food may be excellent, the visual impression of the establishment could deter potential customers who are looking for a clean and appealing ambiance.
In terms of recommendations, the General Tso Chicken, Sesame Chicken, Almond Chicken, and Mongolian Beef are highly recommended by one customer. This provides guidance to new customers who may be unsure of what to order. The customer also suggests trying the Hot and Sour Soup with fried wonton, which indicates that the restaurant offers a variety of appetizing options worth exploring.
In conclusion, First House Chinese Restaurant in Talladega has strengths such as delicious cuisine, friendly staff, and affordable prices. However, weaknesses including inconsistent quality of specific dishes, limited service options, and mixed feedback on the appearance of the building should also be taken into consideration. Understanding these strengths and weaknesses can help potential customers make informed decisions when deciding to dine at First House.

Best TL Reviews

The best Chinese cuisine in Talladega, hands down. Ms. Wendy is an angel and is very patient with customers. Give them a call and get their delicious Honey Chicken plate!!
Had a hard time hearing phone on the phone. Only drive thru service. So call ahead. The fried rice was really dry. And the rice and entree placed into separate compartments of a Styrofoam container. The steamed dumplings were good. Also I ordered teriyaki chicken and it was really dry not too much of teriyaki sauce used at all. It was basically chicken and vegetables sauteed...
I've been gone away from here for over ten years. With my travels across this country, I would seek out Chinese food that could possibly come close to First House. I missed it. I craved it during two pregnancies and beyond.
Upon coming back to this small town, it was my number one goal to go back and say hi to Wendy and get my grub on. Thankfully I have a huge family and everyone's tastes varies and I got to be the designated one to pick up our huge order. Don't think for one second that once Wendy and I caught up and she handed me my order that I didn't drive to the back of the building and very discreetly pick one small bite from every box that was in those bags. There was no way I could resist the aromas that were filling throughout that vehicle! Everything tasted EXACTLY as I remembered from over ten years ago. There is nothing, anywhere, even remotely close enough to First House.
My recommendations: General Tso Chicken, Sesame Chicken, Almond Chicken, and Mongolian Beef. On a side note, definitely get the Hot and Sour Soup with fried wonton, trust me, you'll thank me for it.
I'm so back home!!
First house is always good. No buffet but you still get alot of food for a great price. Friendly staff. The building looks shady but the food is great. I get the Happy Family lunch special everytime
Egg rolls tasted like they had been reheated and were very dark brown. We ordered 2 dishes with beef n both were very dry and too tough to eat and called ahead and asked was the beef dry or soft!! The beef color was dark black and was like it had been reheated several times before. Also ordered fried rice and the rice was very lumpy and stuck together and you could tell it was regular white rice with some sorta liquid sprinkled with it that turned the color. It still tasted like white rice and had never been fried and most fried rice usually has egg, peas and sometimes carrots mixed in it, theirs had nothing but the coloring and had it been fried it would not had been lumped together and no fortune cookies. Worst Chinese I've ever had!!! Plus they overcharged us for extra noodles that go on egg drop soup. U get 1 large bag with a quart of soup and nothing for the 2nd order of soup since they charged us for 2 small bags of noodles.
This is the first and last time I tried first takeout restaurant. We ordered two combination plates which what is about $9 plus tax which should have been about around $20. As the combination plates does not come with a side of Chow Mein noodles, I asked if I can have a side of shrimp chow mein to which they responded they have to give me a combination not just a small side. But they said they would give me a large side of shrimp Chow Mein. ( instead she charged me for a full combo plate which was another $10 and did not tell me she was charging me a combo plate) so the total was $31 and some change. After we came home, I look at the order, and I didn't see the shrimp chow mein noodles that I ordered instead I seen this slimy looking cabbage with bits and pieces of undercooked shrimp.???? when I called her back I told her that I ordered shrimp chow mein and it's usually more noodley but I got some cabbage looking stuff and she responded with... "The noodle dish I'm talking about is called lo mein not chow mien, and you ordered chow mein and thats your fault not ours." Cutting my losses, I said okay thank you and she hung up not offering to make it right. I Google Chow Mein noodles and lo mein noodles and what's the difference, and they are BOTH a noodle based dish. What I got was a slimy cabbage with little bits of pieces of shrimp not a single noodle was inside of their I'll never go back to that place again
yea noo.. that's a bug. wasnt my food but.
Drive thru. Only
good service.Good food.
