Quick Facts About Hotel RL St. Louis Airport
The Hotel RL St. Louis Airport has a mix of strengths and weaknesses based on the comments provided. In terms of strengths, the hotel has recently remodeled specific areas, such as the lobby, giving it a modern and nice appearance. The rooms are also mentioned to have a nice and new bed, sink, and TV, which contributes to a comfortable stay. Additionally, the hotel offers spacious rooms, which is appreciated by guests.
On the other hand, there are multiple weaknesses mentioned by guests. One common complaint is that there are areas of the hotel that have not been remodeled, such as the elevators, which were described as dirty. The water pressure is also reported to be very low, which can be inconvenient for guests. Another complaint is that the carpet next to the air conditioner was wet, indicating a potential maintenance issue.
Parking fees are also mentioned as a negative aspect of the hotel. Guests have reported being charged $50 per night for parking, which is considered an additional expense that some find unnecessary. However, it is mentioned that this amount is eventually refunded.
One of the most significant negative experiences reported is the incident involving a staff member disturbing a guest who had a guaranteed noon check-out time. The staff member banged on the door and yelled at the guest, displaying unprofessional behavior. This incident resulted in a very negative impression of the hotel for the guest and a downgrade in their review rating.
Another weakness mentioned is the lack of certain amenities in the rooms, such as microwaves and fridges. This can inconvenience guests who may need to store or heat food during their stay. Additionally, the lack of transparency in pricing is mentioned, with guests experiencing confusion about the actual costs of their rooms.
Other minor complaints include the ice machine not working on one of the floors, the absence of in-room coffee, and the basic quality of the coffee available downstairs. Some guests also experienced issues such as the phone not working and stained bedding.
On the positive side, it is mentioned that the staff is friendly, the decor is modern, and the bed is comfortable. However, these positives may be overshadowed by the negative experiences described, such as the lack of a shuttle service despite being advertised and the absence of in-room coffee.
In summary, the Hotel RL St. Louis Airport has some strengths, such as recent remodeling, spacious rooms, and a modern design. However, it also has several weaknesses, including areas that were not remodeled, low water pressure, parking fees, and the unprofessional behavior of a staff member. The lack of certain amenities and transparency in pricing are also mentioned as drawbacks. While some guests had positive experiences, it appears that there are enough negative aspects to warrant caution when considering a stay at this hotel.
Best TL Reviews
Positive: There are specific areas that have been recently remodeled. (They were actually actively remodelling an area in the lobby.) Parts of the lobby look nice and modern. The rooms bed, sink, TV were nice and new. The room was large. Negative: There are some areas that didn't get the remodel. The elevators were really dirty. The water pressure was very low. The carpet next to the air conditioner was wet. Parking fees. They charge your credit card $50 per night that will be refunded eventually?
I intended to give this hotel a 4 star review because my experience wasn’t bad until this morning. The incident was enough to sink this rating to a 2. The second star was for the morning manager who handled the situation appropriately.
Let’s start with the positives: my room was spacious and I love the overall design. It was a modern vibe and I felt comfortable. Check in was easy enough.
Room issues: The walls are thin! Your neighbors don’t have to be loud to hear what’s going on in the next room. There is also no microwave or fridge.
I was also charged for parking when my reservation granted me free parking.
Now the incident in question: I booked my reservation directly through the hotel website which guaranteed a noon check out. There is a discrepancy between the deals on the website and what shows up to the front desk staff when viewing reservations. A member of housekeeping banged on the door almost like the FBI ready to kick in the front door telling me it was time to check out. It was a little after 11 am. I politely informed her that my check out was not until noon. Less than 10 minutes later, she bangs on the door louder than the first time yelling, “I spoke to my manager, you don’t have early check out. You need to leave before it gets to 12 or they will charge you.” Let’s just say those direct quotes were the nice way of paraphrasing what she yelled.
It was EXTREMELY unprofessional. It was ghetto. Even if she was correct (she wasn’t), this was poor behavior.
I cannot in good faith recommend this place to friends, colleagues, or family. That incident sealed the deal. It didn’t even occur to her to apologize at the front desk after the incident. It defeated the purpose of a late check out.
Have tried to contact the manager on multiple occasions following my stay. Sent two emails and called twice and left messages and nothing. This was a basic stay following a cancelled flight. Problems started when I called before I even booked the hotel to ask about a shuttle. Was told the shuttle wasn’t running due to covid, but they would refund ride share costs to and from the airport. An email to submit those receipts was supposed to come in a few days… it never did. The room was also dirty with hair in the shower, silly string on a door that adjoined to another room, and a lock that did not latch. Disappointed that when I reached out to Henry the general manager, that customer service did not prevail. If you’re looking solely for a bed to spend the night, I guess it’ll do.
Hotel is clean and pretty modern but that is about it. There are no microwaves, fridges, or pretty much anything other than an iron. Even pricing isn't very transparent. My stay at this hotel has been over for 2 weeks and it still isn't quite clear how much the rooms were per night. I had the initial price at reservation, the price at check in, the price at checkout, and the actual price. The ice machine didn't work on my floor. Couldn't bring food back to the room because it would be cold. Couldn't even get a cup of coffee. Even parking isn't an amenity here. Don't really think I'd choose to stay at this hotel in the future, definitely not for longer than a night.
Friendly staff, modern decor, comfortable bed. Disappointed w no shuttle as advertised from airport , also no in room coffee. Coffee available downstairs but very basic, no creamer...only sugar from an open container. Really would take minimal effort for the extra touches for this hotel to got better rating.
I read all the horrible reviews after I payed and it was non refundable. Boy am I glad it was this experience was fantastic!!! Beds was super comfortable. I needed a quite room because I had 2 small children with me that cried alot room 526 was amazing it was away from the main hallway of rooms. The front desk clerk was wonderful. They also gave me a playpen for the baby. Super quiet the only thing that didn't work was the phone which I didn't need anyways. I would definitely stay here again. I want to know the name brand of those mattresses and pillows pure heaven
Excellent hotel, but a little strange. We could only enter through the main lobby, but that was kinda nice for security purposes. Room did not have hand soap and bedding had something bright pink stained on it (hair dye, highlighter?). Other than that it was comfy, clean, bright, and great location.
We didn't ask about the pool and breakfast wasn't included (many hotels have reduced amenities due to covid so always a good idea to call and check before booking). We just went across the road to Waffle House.
