I’ve been coming here for 10+ years to get a blowout/silk press. Recently, the shop has employed new stylists and in my opinion they’re not good. Here’s why: I have naturally curly hair, not wavy, not kinky, bouncy healthy curls and the previous stylist would always ensure my curls would stay healthy and avoided anything that could cause heat damage. Guess what, after 10+ years under the care of these new stylists, I have heat damage. In addition to this, I requested loose curls at my last appointment and it came out a hot mess. I miss the previous women that worked here and unfortunately due to this change, I will no longer be a customer.
I have locs so I believe the ladies aren't used to maintaining them; however, they are so professional that they make my visits pleasant every time. I don't get them to tetwist them, only a shampoo condition and maybe the dryer. The washes, regardless of who does it, are always phenomenal!
The smell of the products is great as well. Thank you ladies for making my visits well worth the drive.
They took there time and wash, dye, and styled my hair. They were so friendly and nice and the price was good. You will probably spend about 2.5 hours here, but for me it was worth the wait. I have very dry course hair but in the end my hair was so soft and light. Defitnely going there again.
They do great hair if you have a whole day to throw away. They get 5 star for the hair. They do not care about your time. I’ve waited for a long time many times before, but today was the lady straw. I got there at 9am and was the second person waiting. I wear my hair natural and simply wanted a wash and twist my hair. There was only one person there while there were 4 of us waiting. She told me she couldn’t braid my hair and called someone. Waited about an hour and no one came so I left. An hour and a half of my morning wasted. I don’t think I’ll go back to this place again. I’ll miss the price and how great my hair feels, but I won’t miss the horrible service. I’ll find somewhere else to go. I’m not big on giving bad reviews but this place is consistent in atrocious service. They get 0 star after years of being a customer.
One thing about this place is they do natural kinky textured hair really well and for a good price. However, the professionalism is lacking. Up until today I really considered this place to be my go to for wash and sets, but they took the disrespect too far. I went got a wash, set, flat iron, and trim. I paid $60, tipped my stylist and went to my car. I was about to leave when a lady ran out to my car, banged on it really hard and proceeded to tell me I didn't pay, I then said that I did and with an attitude asked me how much I paid, I said $60. I go inside and they said they forgot to charge me $15 for my deep conditioner. The lady who did my trim and press was really apologetic but the lady who ran out to my car with disrespect didn't say a word. I'm still deciding if the price and results are worth the blatant unprofessionalism...
This is an Ethiopian hair salon that serves Alexandria's Ethiopian community. They specialize in the wet-set and silk press look, and they do it WELL. Color services are great too. CAVEAT: Many Americans have found this place and expect something other than what is here. So, if you don't speak Amharic, expect language barriers. Also expect cultural barriers regarding personality and tone. They don't take appointments so those of us in the know camp out early to get one of the first slots. If you manage your expectations, expect a really great hair style at a very great price.
The ladies were very friendly, loved my blow out and the price is very reasonable I will definitely go back very nice and clean salon.
I took my niece there to get a blowout. What I got was a wash & dry and flat iron. It was okay but not worth $55. On a better note the staff was really nice.
