Quick Facts About Martha Dominican Unisex
Martha Dominican Unisex place has received a mix of positive and negative comments from customers. To accurately assess its strengths and weaknesses, we can analyze the comments provided.
Starting with the strengths, several customers praised the welcoming and clean atmosphere of Martha Dominican Unisex place. One customer mentioned that their mother traveled all the way from Florida to get her hair done there, highlighting the limited options available in her home state. This suggests that the salon provides a comfortable and inviting environment for its customers.
Another strength mentioned by customers is the affordability of the services. One customer mentioned that the salon offered competitive prices, making it a cost-effective option compared to other salons. This affordability could be attractive to a wide range of customers, especially those on a budget.
Additionally, a customer mentioned that they were pleased with the wait time, stating that it was reasonable at around 5 to 10 minutes. This suggests that Martha Dominican Unisex place efficiently manages their appointment scheduling, minimizing customer wait times.
Furthermore, some customers praised the skills and expertise of the stylists. One customer mentioned that Martha, the owner, knew exactly what to do with their hair and would personally fix any mistakes made by other stylists. Another customer mentioned that their hair looked healthy and felt great after leaving the salon. These positive reviews indicate that the stylists at Martha Dominican Unisex place have the knowledge and experience to deliver high-quality results to their clientele.
Moving on to the weaknesses, one customer expressed their disappointment with the pricing and payment process. They mentioned that the price for the same service had increased significantly between visits and that they were forced to use the salon's ATM, incurring a surcharge, because they only accepted cash. This suggests a lack of transparency in pricing and payment policies, which can leave customers feeling unsatisfied and irritated.
Another customer had a negative experience with the staff's attitude and customer service. They mentioned that they were given conflicting information when inquiring about pricing and that the staff member was rude and disrespectful to their niece. This indicates a lack of professionalism and customer care on the part of the staff, which can significantly impact the overall experience for customers.
Furthermore, one customer mentioned that they were highly disgusted with the service they received during their third visit. They felt discriminated against and argued that their roots were not too thick or nappy, as claimed by the stylist. This customer's negative experience raises concerns about the salon's ability to cater to different hair types and provide inclusive service.
Lastly, one comment mentioned concerns about the salon's future due to the changes happening in Newark. While not directly related to the salon's performance, this comment highlights potential uncertainties in the long-term sustainability of Martha Dominican Unisex place.
In conclusion, Martha Dominican Unisex place has strengths in terms of its welcoming atmosphere, affordability, efficient wait times, and skilled stylists. However, weaknesses emerge in terms of pricing transparency, customer service, inclusivity, and potential uncertainties in the face of changes. These strengths and weaknesses provide insights that potential customers can consider when deciding whether to visit Martha Dominican Unisex place.

Moms came all the way up from FL to get her hair done here. Limited options down there. Coming to this place ,wow! They are welcoming, clean, affordable and did a great job on her hair. Wait time was reasonable-5/10 minutes. We was in and out !
I used to go here. I went about twice because it was near Rutgers’ campuses. Upon my third visit, I was highly disgusted. They’re lucky I didn’t sue them. They had just clipped my ends for Christmas time (see 1st picture: they did an amazing job). I came back a month later after receiving a perm on Valentine’s Day (see picture below before flat ironing). I went to get a doobie & they denied me. Saying that my roots were too thick and nappy so they couldn’t do my hair unless I got a perm. But I argued that I had just received a perm, and there’s no way I’m frying my hair off so they could glide their small rat tail comb through (that they shouldn’t use on coarser hair anyway). I posted the last picture to my Instagram to show that my roots were nowhere thick. Terrible service and outright discriminatory.
So while I like my haircut - the set up leaves me not wanting to go back. I’ve been twice to cut my hair. And the first time (last summer) I went they charged $40 for the service. This summer, I went back and they charged me $60 for the same service. When I asked about the price, she repeated it for me and wrote it on a paper. However, while I like my haircut - I would definitely say it is overpriced for what it is. My hair was long and it was washed and cut into a bob - no layers, just a regular cut and blow out. Then when I went to pay, I was forced to use their atm which has a surcharge because it was not made known that they only accepted cash. All in all, the service is ok but there’s nothing special about the place to spend $60 for what I got. It’s not a new or updated space. They leave the door open to circulate the air. So you’re not paying for the environment either.
Absolutely horrible service and the staff is extremely rude. I called looking for a Dominican hair salon for my niece to get her hair done, The lady that answered the phone didn’t want to give me a price over the phone and said that I had to come in so that she can see her hair. She said that if I came immediately that she take care of her. I live 20 minutes away. I called at 3:59 PM they close at 5o’clock and when I got there it was 4:37pm. When I got there she said she wasn’t taking care of her because we had an appointment at 1 o’clock. My niece is 14 years old and she was practically yelling at her saying that she was late. I intervened right away and showed her the proof that we called 37 minutes prior she changed her story and said that we took too long. The hair salon was empty there was only one person in a chair and she made me drive just to get a price. I’m assuming she’s the owner. Her attitude was disgusting and I don’t recommend this place at all. If there was 0 stars that’s would i would give it.
I had the best experience here. I came in with my hair looking like a rats nest and they literally brought it back to life. They did beautiful blonde highlights in my brown hair, a beautiful cut, and amazing styling. They got my hair PIN straight. The staff is so friendly, giving, and generous! I was feeling chilly in my chair while I was getting my hair cut so they put a personal heater in front of me to warm me up. They were so polite and even made me laugh. If I could give them 100 stars I would. I have never been to a Dominican salon before but my boyfriend recommended I try it out. I was HIGHLY impressed and will definitely be returning. They are incredible with their services and for very reasonable prices as well. Thank you for making me feel beautiful again!

Loveeeeeeee Martha she is amazing . Haven't seen her in a while but best believe I will be back. My hair always feel healthy leaving here!! She knows exactly what to do. If another person makes a mistake she will come as the owner and fix it herself with no other issues!! I love them and will be back!!
I have been going to Martha's for 15+ years. I have not been in a long time and I was so happy when I called that she was still in business. I was worried with the changes happening in Newark they would force her out. When I want clean shiny bouncy healthy hair I go to her. I hope she stays for more years to come.
