Quick Facts About Morganton Inn
Morganton Inn Place has received a mix of positive and negative comments, indicating both strengths and weaknesses. In this analysis, we will assess these comments to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the establishment.
Starting with the weaknesses, one major issue highlighted by multiple comments is the policy regarding debit/credit card payments. One guest expresses frustration at having to pay a $300 deposit, which they perceive as excessive. This policy may deter potential guests who prefer to pay with cards and do not wish to incur a significant deposit. Another weakness mentioned is the hotel's strict no-pet policy, with one guest expressing dissatisfaction at the lack of allowance for registered service animals. This policy can exclude guests who rely on service animals for various reasons.
Several comments describe poor cleanliness and maintenance issues, such as moldy shower curtains, hair on the bathroom floor, a strong smoke smell, and weed odor throughout the hotel. One guest even mentions that the bathroom clearly had not been cleaned at all, with toothpaste in the sink, dirt and hair in the tub, and a dirty floor. These cleanliness issues can significantly impact the comfort and satisfaction of guests, giving the impression of a poorly maintained establishment. Additionally, a guest complains about non-functional amenities, including a TV that did not work, doors that wouldn't close, and a broken heating system. Such problems interfere with the guests' ability to enjoy their stay and can cause frustration and inconvenience.
Another major weakness mentioned in a comment is the staff's behavior and professionalism. One guest reports being spoken about inappropriately on the phone, potentially compromising their card information. Additionally, there is a claim of misogynistic behavior by a staff member, who ignored the female guest and addressed her male partner instead. This kind of unprofessional behavior can make guests feel unwelcome, unsupported, and disrespected.
Moving on to the strengths of Morganton Inn Place, one guest commends the accommodation for being accommodating to locals in need, such as those dealing with house repairs. The comment highlights the helpfulness and politeness of the gentleman at the front desk, as well as the excellent functionality of the washers and dryers. This positive experience suggests that the hotel is capable of providing good customer service and satisfactory amenities to certain guests.
In another positive comment, a guest emphasizes the improvement seen after the hotel came under new management. They note clean rooms, friendly staff, and a good breakfast for the price paid. This indicates that the hotel has the potential to offer a positive experience when managed properly.
However, it is important to note that overall, the comments lean more towards highlighting weaknesses rather than strengths. The negative experiences mentioned, such as cleanliness issues, maintenance problems, poor staff behavior, and inconsistent billing practices, reflect a lack of attention to detail and a potential disregard for guest satisfaction.
In conclusion, the strengths of Morganton Inn Place include accommodating local guests and improvements after a change in management. However, the weaknesses, such as excessive deposit requirements, strict pet policies, cleanliness and maintenance issues, unprofessional staff behavior, and inconsistent billing practices, are significant and can greatly impact the overall guest experience. Addressing these weaknesses should be a priority for the establishment to enhance guest satisfaction and improve its reputation.

FYI: If you want to pay with a debit/credit card. This location requires a $300 deposit. Which is absolutely ridiculous!! They do not allow pets. Not even registered service animals.
MOST DEFINITELY do not recommend this hotel for anyone!! Checking in the first room had mold on the shower curtain, a horrible smoke smell and there was hair all over the bathroom floor. After complaining we were moved to another room, which had the same smell. The entire weekend the hotel smelled strongly of weed. You are required to put a $200 deposit down and when you check out they check the room before returning the deposit and charged me $60 for two towels that had make up on them. WASHABLE make up that comes off when you’re showering but yet charged $60 for them.
The water pipes in our house bursted and the Surstay was very accommodating about letting locals stay there. The gentleman at the front desk was very helpful and polite. Their washers and dryers work excellently. I have no complaints about staying here and am very appreciative of how well we have been treated during our stay. I would definitely recommend staying here if you are local and need a place to stay while you are getting work done in your house or even just passing through. Thank you to the staff at Surstay for making us feel welcome.
The bathroom OBVIOUSLY had not been cleaned; 1toothpaste in the sink, dirt and hair in tge tub, something dark spilled on the counter, floor was sticky and tv didn't work. Called the desk and nothing was done
Girl checking us in was on the phone and started talking to whoever it was about MY card. That's just asking to have card info stolen. Then tried to say she was talking to her manager. All info was under my name, but when we went to check out I handed the guy at the desk my key and asked to be checked out. He looked PAST me to my husband to ask if he wanted to check us out! It was disgustingly misogynistic considering my husband's name wasn't even on the room. We travel to this area often, but will NEVER stay here again.
Hotel was under new management, you could absolutely see the difference. Clean rooms, friendly staff and a good breakfast for what you pay for. Would book again.
I stayed here for the weekend and this place is terrible, no shower curtains, door wouldn’t close, heat wouldn’t work until we got help, dirty towels and water the staff was terrible and rude they kept telling us to quiet down and not complain about the room when we weren’t doing anything the staff said they didn’t want us there and so much more never stay here they are rude, disrespectful and no help i don’t suggest anyone ever go here ever again
Room was charged to our card 3 hours before we arrived. Upon arrival we were informed of a deposit that would be refunded, however we were charged the deposit as well. Reserved queen beds., Which ended up being doubles. Lighting in the room wasn't the best. Did see 1. Bug in the bathroom. Wouldn't recommend my dog staying here.
