Quick Facts About Nails
Nail's Place is a nail salon located in Mt. Vernon that offers both walk-in and appointment-based services. Based on the comments provided, there are both strengths and weaknesses to this salon.
One of the strengths mentioned by a customer is the excellent service they receive consistently. They express satisfaction with the service they receive and mention that they always love their nails. Another customer praises a specific technician named Ann, noting that she always does a fabulous job and commending her hard work ethic. Additionally, a mother of four mentions that she finds the salon to be a quiet and relaxing environment, which is a strength for someone seeking a calming experience.
However, there are several weaknesses that are brought up by customers as well. One recurring complaint is the long wait times. A customer mentions waiting for an hour before being attended to, while another expresses frustration at being told it would take 30 minutes but waiting over an hour. This is a common issue that seems to arise from the salon's popularity and being the only walk-in option in the area, creating high demand and longer wait times.
Another weakness highlighted is the issue of pricing and possible discrepancies. One customer mentions an incident where they were charged $10 more than initially quoted and experienced disrespect during the service. Another customer mentions feeling ripped off and unsatisfied with the service they received for the price paid. It is worth noting that this customer also voices concerns about the salon being cash-only, which creates inconvenience for those who prefer or rely on card payments.
The quality of the services provided is another area of weakness identified by customers. Several customers mentioned issues with acrylic nails, stating that they lifted or did not hold up well. One customer also mentions gel polish chipping within a few days of application. The comments indicate a lack of durability in the nail treatments received, which is disappointing considering the prices charged.
Additionally, there are complaints about the professionalism and attitude of some staff members. One customer mentions that the technician was rude to almost every customer, while another mentions feeling ripped off and receiving poor service. These negative interactions and lack of professionalism contribute to a negative salon experience for customers.
Another weakness is the limited options available in the area, as mentioned by a customer who states that the salon is the only walk-in nail salon within a 25-mile radius. This lack of competition can lead to a lack of incentive for the salon to address and improve upon the issues raised by customers.
In conclusion, Nails Place has some strengths such as consistently providing excellent service and having a dedicated technician like Ann. However, there are several weaknesses that need to be addressed. These weaknesses include long wait times, pricing discrepancies, cash-only policy, subpar quality of nail services, and unprofessional behavior. Addressing these weaknesses could help improve the overall customer experience and satisfaction at Nails Place.

Other then a wait, I always get excellent service and always love my nails.
Ann makes my nails fabulous, every time! So kind and one of the hardest working women I have ever known!! ????????????????
After waiting 1 hour I went to get a new set after I just wanted a filling because she wouldn’t fill it. She started ripping my nails off and I started crying and she KEPT GOING. This is what my nails look like now. Not to mention she changed the price to $10 last minute after telling me it would be $5 to get them off. The disrespect I experienced was unexplainable.
This is my second negative experience here. This is the only walk in nail salon in Mt Vernon which stinks because if you’d like me and save everything to the last minute then you have no options but to make an apportionment or use the only walk in nail salon for 25 miles.
Second they are a cash only salon. They do not take cards at all. They gave a sign hanging on the desk where you pay but no one’s really looking at that until your standing there to pay!! They do trust you to go get cash n come back however which is nice.
Third and this is why I won’t ever be going back. As I said I’ve had 2 negative experience. I’ve only gone here twice also. First time was 4 years prior and I would have rated that a 3 star then. The nail color was good and never chipped and she even accommodated a request of mine. However the acrylic began lifting within a couple days. I got them done right before we left for vacation so I wasn’t being rough with them at all.
Because of this I didn’t go back till 2 weeks ago. I thought I would give it another try cuz I was tired of driving out of town every 4 weeks. This time I had a different guy doing the acrylic and the same woman doing the color. Honestly I’ve never had the acrylic put on so thin. Which I assume is to make them look more natural maybe. But they aren’t holding up well. 1 of them began lifting the very next day, and there are also air pockets in between the nail itself and the acrylic. The gel polish began chipping within 2-3 days.
Ive attached photos so you can see what I’m talking about. Unfortunately for $65 for a full set plus the $15 tip I wound expect them to be a bit more durable. Back to driving to Newark, Columbus or Mansfield if I forget to make an appointment with Bethany. ????♀️
It seems like they don’t care about all the 1 star reviews. I hope my review helps you to change your mind about visiting. They have a captive audience with being the only walk in salon in Mt. Vernon. Was told 30 minutes, waited over an hour and Ann tried to finish the pedicure in 10 minutes, no foot buff, no lotion, etc. Removing gel was $10 more. I live in Dublin. I can throw a quarter and hit a salon better than this one. Also, she was rude to almost every customer that walked in. Take the time to book an appointment at a better place. Good luck.
Stopped in for a walk-in and asked if they could cut my nails down and reshape them. The lady said sit down I can help you. She then said to cut down and shape it will be $15 . I agree I felt that would be a fair price. She clipped my nails with nail clippers and then put oil on my nails and told me to wash. She then took my $15 dollars. I asked her about the shaping she said she couldn’t but she still told me it would be $15. They were uneven and sharpe. I could have done this for free at home. Or even went and bought nail clippers for way less.. offered a service and didn’t get it.. such a rip off. Horrible service they were very rude and stole money/ ripped me off. It’s not like I could have walked out or not paid and they didn’t offer a discount since she couldn’t file them down which didn’t make sense because I went home and did and they look 100 times better and I’m not a nail professional. 1st and last time I ever use them and I will spread the word so others are warned.. horrible just horrible.
As a mom of 4 young children, I use my nail time for quietness and relaxation which I always get here. Ann is an amazing woman and always makes sure I know that she knows I’m there. Great communication and customer service. Not sure of the man’s name but he’s always efficient and does my nails exactly how I like them! I am officially a regular customer!
I tried to get a pedicure for my Mother. You have to wonder when a business only takes cash!?! I ran a successful business for 40 year's, paid my taxes etc.
Then found out it was $55 for a pedicure (with no polish) way too expensive !
