Quick Facts About The Boatel Bar
The Boatel Bar has a mixture of strengths and weaknesses based on the comments provided.
Starting with the strengths, the live music outdoors seems to be a significant draw for some customers. This shows that they have entertainment options that appeal to their target audience, particularly those who enjoy outdoor activities like kayaking. The fact that someone mentions swinging by on their kayak indicates that the bar has a unique location and ambiance that sets it apart from other establishments.
Another point mentioned by a customer is the great bartenders. This suggests that the staff is friendly, attentive, and provides excellent service to the patrons. Good customer service is crucial in the hospitality industry, and positive interactions with staff members can significantly enhance the overall experience at a bar.
The Boatel Bar is also praised as a great summer venue, providing a laid-back and enjoyable atmosphere. This comment indicates that the outdoor area is well-utilized and offers a place for customers to relax, enjoy a cold beverage, and observe the river activity. This highlights the potential for the establishment to serve as a popular gathering spot during the warmer months.
Additionally, a customer mentions that the bar itself is enjoyable, even when not taking part in any specific event or activity. This implies that the overall atmosphere and ambiance inside the bar are pleasant and welcoming, contributing to a positive experience for customers.
However, there are significant weaknesses that need to be addressed. One recurring complaint is the poor quality of the menu. This suggests that the food offerings may be limited or of subpar quality, potentially deterring customers who are looking for a satisfying dining experience alongside their drinks. Strengthening their menu options would be beneficial in attracting a wider range of customers and encouraging repeat business.
Another negative aspect mentioned is the overall cleanliness of the establishment. While one customer specifically refers to the place smelling like dogs, it can be inferred that the general cleanliness, both indoors and outdoors, might be lacking. Customers have mentioned that the outdoor area has become a dog park, leading to fouling issues. This is a significant hygiene concern that needs to be addressed promptly to maintain a clean and pleasant environment for all customers.
Another customer comments on the rudeness of the staff when calling to inquire about the bar. This indicates that there might be a lack of good customer service over the phone, potentially resulting in missed opportunities to convert potential customers into actual visitors. Improving phone etiquette and customer engagement skills among staff members would help create a positive impression of the bar right from the initial contact.
Lastly, one customer describes the bar as the grossest they have been to in Alaska. They mention the presence of consistently overserved and confrontational individuals, potentially creating an uncomfortable or unsafe environment for other patrons. It is vital for the management to enforce responsible serving practices and ensure a safe and welcoming atmosphere for all visitors.
In conclusion, while The Boatel Bar has some strengths such as its outdoor live music, great bartenders, and a pleasant summer venue, it also has significant weaknesses including a poor menu, cleanliness concerns, rude staff, and a potential problem with overserving customers. Therefore, it is crucial for the bar to address these weaknesses to enhance the overall customer experience and reputation of the establishment.

They have the worst menu, however the live music outdoors is what keeps me swinging by on me kayak
I called just to ask a question in reference to back in the day when I was stationed at Ft Wainwright. Friend and I were going to head up that way to hang at the Boat. Used to be a great place. The young lady that answered was kinda rude. Back in the day the Boat was a great place. I guess we won't waist our time.
During the early day-time….
Place smells like dogs, the bartenders don’t serve you that many drinks, it’s no surprise they don’t receive any good tips.
This is a "local" bar in Fairbanks, inside is drinks only, no frills, just drinks. The back yard that abuts the Chena River is the gem of this local watering hole. The best place in Fairbanks to enjoy a cold beverage, tan in the sun, and watch the river activity.
Great bartenders. Great summer time venue. Only bat I've gone into. And was the most sober person lol
Fantastic fun every time I go here, even when it's just to go to the bar itself.
Could be a good bar but they let the outdoor become a literal dog park and feces all over.
Not cool.
This was the grossest bar I've been to in Alaksa and that's saying something. A bunch of hard drinkers that are consistently overserved, that think they can talk to you bc you are in the same room. Hard pass.
