Quick Facts About The Market Inn

The Market Inn has several strengths that contribute to its positive reputation. One major strength is its friendly staff. Many customers comment on the friendliness of the staff, describing them as "sehr freundlich" (very friendly). This kind of positive interaction with customers helps create a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere.
Another strength of The Market Inn is the quality of its food and beer. Multiple comments mention that the food and beer are very good. One customer even specifically praises a cheese/bacon/beef burger as "the most delicious" they have ever had. This indicates that the pub consistently delivers high-quality meals and beverages, which is an important factor for customers when choosing where to eat or drink.
Customers also appreciate the value that The Market Inn offers. One review mentions that the lunch deal, which includes a sub roll, drink, and fries, is great value for money at around £8. This kind of affordable and satisfying meal option makes The Market Inn an attractive choice for customers on a budget.
The atmosphere of The Market Inn is another strength. Customers comment on the great atmosphere and clean surroundings. This indicates that the pub is well-maintained and provides a pleasant environment for customers to relax and socialize. The upstairs space is also mentioned, suggesting that there is ample seating available for larger groups or during busy times.
Additionally, The Market Inn offers a good selection of gin, which is appreciated by customers who enjoy this spirit. The availability of different types of gin adds to the overall experience and allows customers to have a wide variety of choices.
However, despite these strengths, there are some weaknesses that have been noted by customers. One weakness mentioned is the small downstairs bar area. While the pub has a larger upstairs space, the limited size of the downstairs area can create waiting times at the bar, particularly when coffees are being served. This may be a point of frustration for some customers who are looking for quick service or who prefer a more spacious setting.
Another weakness that has been highlighted is the decline in quality over time. One reviewer mentions that the knowledgeable and experienced bar staff have been replaced with inexperienced staff, leading to a noticeable drop in the quality of the food. This customer feels that The Market Inn has transformed from one of the best pubs in Salisbury to a mediocre, overpriced chain pub. This decline in quality and change in staff may be dissatisfying for long-time customers who have come to expect a certain level of excellence from the pub.
In conclusion, The Market Inn has several strengths that contribute to its positive reputation, including friendly staff, good quality food and beer, affordability, and a pleasant atmosphere. However, there are also some weaknesses, such as limited space in the downstairs bar area and a decline in quality over time. It is important for the pub to address these weaknesses in order to maintain its positive reputation and continue to attract and satisfy customers.

Best TL Reviews

Sehr freundlich, Essen und Bier sehr gut
Great birthday meal with family , two days running , the steak with scampi side was scrummy , great atmosphere clean ,with good gin selection , will be back .
Small downstairs bar area, with a larger upstairs space, 3 ales available, the serving of coffees can extend the waiting time at the bar.
Great value lunch. A sub roll and drink for about £8. Roll had a good amount of filling and came with fries. Loads of room and loads on the menu for all tastes.
Thank you Aaron for great service and making our Mother's day celebrations so good. Food was first class as always and Penny says thank you for her gift.
See you again soon.
Always friendly. Cassidy is blonde and always happy to serve (which is basically her job). The beer was beer. Which is what I expected because that's what I wanted. The company is always pleasant if I don't talk to anybody. All in all, a jolly nice time was had and it seems to be a safe place when I'm feeling vulnerable.
Had the most delicious cheese/bacon/beef burger in a brioche bun with fat chips today, I was visiting Salisbury with a dear friend and we stopped here to eat lunch, will recommend this place to eat and will defo go again next time I’m in Salisbury, service was impeccable too!????????
I always find is a shame when I have to rewrite a review to downgrade my rating. My original rating, a year ago, was 5 stars. Now I feel generous giving 3 stars. Having been to the Market Inn many times over the years and eaten lots of food there it's a shame to see the standards dropping. The knowledgeable and experienced bar staff seem to have been replaced with inexperienced though hard working staff members. The quality of the food has noticeably dropped, with my last couple of meals there having been rather disappointing. It's a shame to see what was, in my opinion one of the best pubs in Salisbury becoming a mediocre, overpriced chain pub.
