Quick Facts About Mama's Hair Braiding
Mama's Hair Braiding place receives both positive and negative comments, which allows us to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the establishment.
Starting with the strengths, one commenter had an excellent experience, stating that the braider took her time and was precise, resulting in an outcome that exceeded her expectations. This positive review suggests that the salon employs skilled and talented stylists who are able to provide high-quality service.
Furthermore, another review mentions that the braiders at Mama's Hair Braiding place are fast and provide friendly services. This is a strength because fast service can be appealing to customers who are looking to save time or have other commitments. Additionally, the friendly services create a welcoming atmosphere that can enhance the overall customer experience.
Another positive aspect is that the shop has been operating for over 26 years, according to one comment. This longevity suggests that the establishment has established a loyal customer base and has managed to sustain its business over an extended period. A longstanding presence in the community is an indication of reliability and credibility.
Moving on to the weaknesses, one significant problem highlighted in the comments is poor customer service. In one instance, a customer complained about the center braids being too big and reached out for a fix or refund. However, the salon refused to accommodate the request, leading to a dissatisfied customer. Another reviewer also mentioned that the staff can be rude and do not prioritize the customers' needs or preferences.
In terms of timeliness, one individual reported that the salon was not punctual. Despite arriving early in the morning, the customer had to wait for a significant amount of time due to the stylist's delay. This could be a drawback for customers who value efficiency and expect to be seen promptly at their appointment time.
Additionally, a few negative comments mentioned issues with communication and professionalism. One customer described a situation where the braider asked them to help take down their hair in order to speed up the process, which is unprofessional behavior. Another comment suggested cultural tension and the perception of rudeness towards African American customers, which can create an uncomfortable and unwelcoming environment.
Another weakness mentioned is inconsistencies in service and quality. One individual had a positive experience during their first visit but encountered various problems during their second visit. These issues included miscommunication regarding appointment timing and receiving a different hairstyle than what was paid for. Inconsistency can lead to a lack of trust and customer loyalty.
In conclusion, Mama's Hair Braiding place has strengths in terms of skillful stylists, fast and friendly service, and longevity in the community. However, the establishment faces weaknesses in terms of poor customer service, lack of punctuality, unprofessional behavior, cultural tensions, and inconsistencies in service and quality. It is essential for the business to address these weaknesses in order to improve customer satisfaction and maintain a positive reputation in the industry.

I got box braids Tuesday August 17, 2021 here it is August 22, 2021 and I called all day yesterday trying to get someone to either fix my hair or give me my money back due to the braids in the middle of my head being too big smh! Upon calling this morning I was told that my braids are supposed to be like this ????! There’s no way that I haven’t had my braids in for a whole week yet and the center of my head looks like it has been in my head for 3 weeks now smh! I will never frequent this establishment again. They didn’t fix my hair or give me my money back. Horrible and poor customer service.
This is a testament to NEVER trust reviews! You have to experience things for yourself in order to form your own opinion. I visited this shop yesterday for the 1st time and I’m not gonna lie, I was leery and very apprehensive. Mostly because I’ve been going to the same lady for my Senegalese twists for the past 7yrs and she was the only person I trusted. Fortunately she was booked yesterday and I had a time constraint and I could not come the next day or later, so I did some googling and found a shop near her and I’M SO GLAD I DID! I didn’t get the name of the person that did my hair but she did an EXCELLENT job on my hair. She took her time and was precise. I mean I absolutely LOVEEEEE my hair!! Like to the point where she just gained a new loyal customer. She did a better job than the lady I’ve been seeing for 7 years! I will definitely be back. THANKS AGAIN!!!
The only con is they do make you pay before your service is complete and I’m not used to that. I couldn’t really tell how my hair looked with it being half-way done so I was reluctant to pay the FULL balance before completion. She did explain that is their policy and there is a sign that says so, so I did pay upfront but she did not disappoint! Again, I love love love my hair!
I love this shop, they do your hair and it's always very neat, and there fast and friendly services, I have known theses lady's for over 26 years, I love them
Showed up at 8:30 trying to be one of the first ones here and it’s 5 customers, I was the third and only one braider is here we are “waiting on mama and the others” I am not sticking around I’m going somewhere else. Just letting y’all know they are not timely.
Got zillions in 4hrs. The only place I ever go.
They Act Like People On Their Time, They’re Rude When They Want To Be And Expect For Customers To Get What They Feel Like Doing! Africans Specializes In Everything Except Sew In And Quick Weave, So I’m Not Understanding What’s The Problem! Everybody Paying For What They Want And All You Is “Your Hair Is Either Too Short Or Too Long For Certain Styles”, Just Say You Doing Wanna Do It…
I've been here twice. The first time i got the 185 Senegalese twists. They were beautiful and i had a fast braider. This time I wanted the same style. First I got there at 10am and was told they'd call me at 1. I drove all the way home 20 minutes away only to get a call at 11:15 telling me to come back. I got there and was still made to wait 40 minute. So when i finally get in the chair the braider was soooooo slow. She took over 8 hours to do my hair. She stopped after 6 hours to go eat for 25 minutes then when it was finally finished she apologized for how long it took but i was in a rush to get out if there i barely looked at my hair only to get home and see i was given the shorter 165 Senegalese twists instead of what i paid for. They are neat but I'm disappointed because thats $20 i could've used for something else. I won't be back. They've lost me????
Some are rude, some aren't. I went to get a touch up on box braids and the lady that was doing my hair asked "can you help take it down, so it'll be faster?!" I said "okay well, you can give me my $15 tip back then!" She said "that's okay lol" and then proceeded comb my hair out, but was really rough. I had to tell her to stop, and combed it out myself. That's really my only bad experience. I was told from another shop that A lot of people from Africa don't like African Americans because they look at us as lazy, weak and spoiled. So if you feel like they're being rude or talking about you... they probably are.
