Quick Facts About Platts

Platts Place is a chip shop that has received mixed reviews from its customers. It is important to consider both the strengths and weaknesses mentioned in the comments to get a comprehensive understanding of the establishment.
One of the strengths mentioned is the friendly staff. Several comments highlight the positive interactions with the employees, indicating that there are employees who provide good customer service. This can contribute to a positive dining experience and make customers feel welcome and valued.
Another strength mentioned is the reasonable prices. Customers appreciate that the food is reasonably priced, which can make it more accessible and affordable for a wider range of people. This can be especially appealing for families or individuals on a budget.
Additionally, the comment about the food being delicious indicates that Platts Place has the potential to serve tasty, satisfying meals. This can be a significant strength for a restaurant, as the quality and taste of the food are often crucial factors in determining customer satisfaction.
However, there are several weaknesses mentioned in the comments that need to be considered. One common criticism is the inconsistency in the quality of the food. Customers mention that it is unpredictable whether the food will be great or awful, with the latter being more prevalent. This inconsistency can leave customers feeling disappointed and hesitant to return.
Another weakness highlighted is the undercooked, pale, and limp chips. Chips are a fundamental part of a fish and chip shop, and if they consistently fall short in terms of quality, it can have a significant impact on the overall dining experience. Additionally, the comment mentions that the oil used leaves a nasty aftertaste, which further detracts from the enjoyment of the meal.
The portion sizes of the fish also receive criticism. Customers complain that the small fish portion is more suitable for a child and does not provide value for money. This can be a deterrent for customers who expect a substantial and satisfying meal when dining out.
Furthermore, several comments mention issues related to cleanliness and hygiene. The comment about witnessing a staff member drop a utensil on the floor and continue using it raises concerns about food safety practices. Customers also mention seeing a staff member with dirty fingernails while handling food, which is a clear hygiene issue. These observations can lead to a loss of trust in the establishment and create doubts about the overall cleanliness of the kitchen and food preparation areas.
Another weakness highlighted is the limited menu options at certain times. Customers mention being disappointed when they were only able to order chips and not the full range of food options. This can be particularly frustrating for customers who specifically visit the chip shop for their desired menu items and end up leaving empty-handed or having to go elsewhere.
One comment mentions rude staff, which is a significant weakness. Employees who are rude or dismissive can create a negative atmosphere for customers and contribute to an unpleasant dining experience. This can deter customers from returning, as they do not want to be subjected to poor treatment.
Overall, Platts Place has some strengths, such as friendly staff, reasonable prices, and the potential for delicious food. However, there are several weaknesses that need to be addressed, including inconsistency in food quality, undercooked chips, limited portion sizes, hygiene concerns, and rude staff. By addressing these weaknesses, the establishment can improve its overall offering and enhance customer satisfaction.

Best TL Reviews

Always unpredictable whether your food will be great or just awful. It's more often awful. Friendly staff and reasonably priced. However, chips are always under cooked, pale and limp. The oil they use is too strong leaving a nasty after taste.. small fish is child's portion and not value for money. Last fish portion was dripping in oil half of it was at the bottom of the bag.. I wouldn't recommend this chip shop.
Ordered via Just Eat app and was extremely impressed with the service, arrived earlier than stated and was packaged really well and nice and hot. I love the fact they offer a small cod portion, just perfect for me. The food is so delicious and is brilliant that can finally order in fish and chips!
Definately recommended and is the best I've tasted in a long time
I decided to try Platts as it had been a while since I had last been. Going with my standard choice of Cod and chips, i found the quality excellent and the portion size just right (you can only order large Cod and chips). The service was quick and the food, freshly cooked (a pleasant surprise).
There is parking outside which makes it really easy to pop by and let the cooker stay cold :)
So went to the shop at 8 to find the shop light off. But shop was still open.. we put masks on covid...only to see the lad drop a utensil he was, using on the floor and re use it again noticed dirty finger nails which he was battering fish and sausages. Maybe they should wear disposable gloves when preparing food
Super fish and chips, generally cooked to order. Disappointed one evening when arrived at 08.30 p.m. to be told only serving chips. Result, took family order to Langleys, best part of £40 lost.
Fish cooked fresh to order, I didn't like that the chips were portioned onto bags and placed in the warmer while the fish was cooking but altogether it was a decent fish and chips, not bad prices either.
The staff were friendly and the place was clean.
Good fish and chips, service a little slow but friendly :-)
Rude staff, and chips not the nicest. Also, having a person behind the counter in a 'health care/nursing uniform ' without any ppe on, not the best to see. The lady was standing there where food is being wrapped up for 20 mins approximately, won't be visiting again!
