Quick Facts About Pretty Bayou boat ramp

The Pretty Bayou boat ramp has a number of strengths and weaknesses, as indicated by the comments from various users.
Starting with the strengths, one of the positive aspects of the boat ramp is its location. It is described as a quiet and out-of-the-way place, making it a peaceful spot to reach the bay. Additionally, the condition of the ramp is mentioned as better than most in the area, indicating that it is well-maintained and functional. The ramp seems to be suitable for smaller boats, up to 20 feet in length, and it is also mentioned that it is a great spot for kayaks, which suggests that it caters to a variety of small watercraft. The presence of a small dock is also seen as a positive aspect, providing some convenience for boaters.
In terms of weaknesses, one of the most frequently mentioned issues is the difficulty in launching multiple boats. It appears that the installation of a new dock has resulted in a situation where only one boat can tie up, making it challenging for multiple boats to launch at the same time. This limitation can be frustrating for boaters who visit the ramp with friends or family and would like to launch their boats together. Another weakness mentioned is the dissatisfaction with the floating dock. While the comment does not elaborate on the specific reasons, it suggests that the design or functionality of the dock may not be ideal for some users.
Another aspect that is both mentioned as a strength and a weakness is the size of boats that can be accommodated at the ramp. While it is appreciated as a good spot for smaller boats and kayaks, it is also stated that bringing a big boat to the ramp is not recommended. This limitation may make it less attractive for boaters who own larger vessels.
One of the more unique comments highlights the negative impact the boat ramp has had on the person's mother who lives on the street. The increased usage of the boat ramp, while attracting many respectful users, has also led to some disrespectful behavior and inconvenience for residents in the area. This issue may not directly affect the quality of the boat ramp itself, but it is worth considering as a potential drawback for the local community.
Another comment brings up the broader context of boat ramps in the area and the impact of decisions made by local officials. It highlights the closure of parking at a nearby marina, which has led to increased usage of the Pretty Bayou boat ramp. This influx of users may have put additional strain on the ramp and affected the overall experience for boaters. The comment also expresses frustration and suspicion towards the actions of the mayor and city council, suggesting a lack of trust and satisfaction with their handling of the situation.
Lastly, the availability of parking at the ramp is mentioned as a potential issue, particularly on weekends when it quickly gets limited. This limitation may inconvenience boaters who arrive at the ramp and cannot find a parking spot, potentially leading to frustration or even having to abandon their boating plans.
In conclusion, the Pretty Bayou boat ramp has its strengths in terms of location, condition, and suitability for smaller boats and kayaks. However, it also suffers from weaknesses such as limited capacity for multiple boats, dissatisfaction with the floating dock, and potential parking issues. The comments also bring up concerns about the impact on the local community and the decisions made by local officials.

Since the new dock has been installed, it is difficult for multiple boats to launch. There is now only room for one boat to tie up, making it hard to single launch your boat.
It's OK place to launch.i don't like the floating dock
It is a quiet out of the way place to reach the bay. The ramp is in better condition than most bay county ramps. Do not bring a big boat here. More for med to small boats. Great spot for kayaks too.
Mother lives on this street so not happy it was donated to the county. To many people always down here. Many are respectful, some are not. I understand why it is used a lot, it opens the area up to those whom sit in the middle of the road while they organize instead of moving off down so not to block ones home or roadway
Not as good as last year. Shrimp and grits. Shrimp over cooked tough and grits tasty but rather dry. Roast beef sandwich was not good.
Since the mayor and the other panama city commission shut down parking at st Andrew's marrina with very little fanfare or publicity, I guess this one will have to do for now. Thanks to those officials, there are no usable ramps left in the city other than 1)Carl gray which is never maintained/dredged and has no finger piers to assist in launching most boats even PRIOR to the cane.(Update...panama city marrina is now open thanks to political pressures and the collapse of the original marrina "improvement" plan by the mayors group.)
Mr Brudnicki's and the council's goal now seems to be to shut down St Andrew's boat ramp altogether or minimize its use through lack of allowable adjacent parking. They cant be successful in blatantly closing the publicly owned, tax payer funded ramp, so they shut down or dis-allow "boat trailer parking" with threatening signs like "towed at owners expence". Then usage of the ramp becomes non existant. They claim to have provided 8 replacement parking spots... yep... 1.5 city blocks away on the marrina itself. However, those spots are taken every day all day by dozens of contractors and contractor vehicles working on one of the councilman's home/condo building. I find it interesting there are no threats of towing their vehicles to keep these spots open. The least they could do is fake it like they care by insuring those lousy 8 spots are kept open to use for the purpose they were pledged. I would like to know just what the heck the council is thinking? This community is water based in its history and is what attracts residents and tourist( just like the mayor stated in the reopening of the downtown marina. Also these are wholesome activities that families engage and keep their kids active in as opposed to negative activities. Another example of the mayors "progressive" leadership and "his vision" as stated in his political ads. Maybe I'm just an angry person that hates change, but I call BS.
Beautiful Bayou, nice easy ramp, parking gets limited quickly on weekends.
Good for smaller boats 20 and under. Ample parking small dock and shallow waterway.
