ISSA hair braiding is definitely not the place to go to . The stylist are amazing and do a great job but beware; the owner will give you a low price to lure you in and on the day of your appointment she will change the price on you and increase it.
I had a terrible experience with her and I will never go back to her job because she is running a fraudulent business venture. I spoke with her over the phone on Wednesday 3/16/2022 for a feed-in braid; I sent her pictures of exactly what I wanted and we discussed the price if she provided the extension versus if I provided the extension. I agreed to provide the extension for $130 and we made an appointment for Sunday at 4pm.
I showed up at 3:45pm and the salon was locked, I called her to inquire about my appointment and she stated that she was out of town and her employee was sick and had to leave early. Mind you, she never reached out to me to reschedule the appointment beforehand. We finally rescheduled for Monday morning at 9am, I got to her hair shop and showed the stylist what hair style I wanted and how much her boss quoted me. The stylist as usual called to confirm and ISSA the lady immediately asked me to pay $190 instead of the $130 she quoted me. I was very shocked as this is $60 increase without warning. I had already canceled my plans for Monday and needed the braids for my vacation. Needless to say I was beyond livid and she constantly kept lying about not discussing the price with me which absolutely made no sense since I already had an appointment. I didn’t have a choice but to agree on the price because I know I won’t be able to make another appointment last minute as I was leaving for my trip the following day.
I will never go back to this shop at all because the owner ISSA is a liar and will rip you off and put you in a vulnerable position like she did to me. Go there at your own risk.
Very very disappointed in her and the fact that she chose to lie and runs a business strictly on dishonesty and lies. Very very unhappy. I will never recommend her to anybody I know.
I would give her a 0 rating if I could as this is very disappointing
I want to give them five stars so bad! Because this is one of the best braiding shops I have found since moving back home. I love going to the shop there so fast and neat! But every time I call and make an appointment and I arrive on time for my appointment I have to wait 4 hours or until the next day until I can get my hair braided! Most times it does be a big inconvenience because what's the point of making an appointment if I'm still going to have to wait sometimes 24 hours later. But again the braids are always nice and neat! I always get a head full of singles done in three hours. So I will be going again.
I scheduled an appointment for a bob, when I arrived the main braided told me they couldn’t do it because it would take too much time & they wouldn’t be able to service others customers. She suggested micro braids instead, I didn’t want them but I was just like cool. Paying $280 for braids should have meant my braids would’ve been the same size all over my head, but of course they made then bigger where I could not see. They didn’t even properly tuck my natural hair ????. I paid $280 from this salon maybe 9 years for micro braids & they were beautiful but of course I had different braiders. My most recent experience was trash. One girl seemed extremely exhausted & like she’d rather be anywhere else in the world, the other one was cool. The extremely exhausted girl told another customer who walked in she’d have to come back tomorrow because they were busy & of course the customer wasn’t happy about this because she had an appointment. There are no appointments here, it’s first come first serve. Overall, no I don’t recommend this place. There’s other salons where you’ll be much better off spending your time & money.
I like this shop, although they overslept and was 30 mins late. The service was still good service. They were friendly and they do hair fast and neat. I didn't have any head sores, neck pain or anything you get from other shops. The prices she gave on the phone was honored. They made you want to come back and I will be going back. The best braiding shop I have been to here for quality, style, professionalism, and good energy. Ms.Isa is so nice and sweet. I will always recommend this shop.
I had an 8 am appointment and the staff was there on time and ready. The salon was clean and the environment friendly. I had 1 person start my braids then another stylist joined in for a hour to quicken the pace. The stylist who started my hair finished me up. The only thing I would say was off was that I was told over the phone a quote of 160 to 180 dollars for my box braids, but upon arrival I was charged 200$. I will come back and I will recommend Isa's African Braiding. #excellentwork
First time client. I like my braids and I am satisfied with the end results... however, I would advise to clear pricing first. I was quoted over the phone $140 for box braids and told I would be charged $180 if they used their own braiding hair. But somehow, even with buying my own hair I still paid $180 bucks.
The way they get you is you're quoted a base price of $140 and the first braid she does is a huge plait, she shows it to you knowing good and well the average person doesn't want huge box braids, so you end up giving in to get the size you want and paying the bait and switch price.
When I inquired about pricing, I was given some bland answer about size and length fluctuates pricing, but in the same breath tells me micro braids are $180, as well (not to mention I got home and noticed that another color was used to finish a portion of my hair in the back, nobody informed me that this was being done, Tacky to say the least).
Im still not sure how the pricing works, I'd just advise to be prepared to pay $180 for any type of braids and more money based on using their hair and if you prefer a different size other than what they deem the $140 size braid and make sure the braiders aren't using different colored hair without your knowledge.
** the 2nd braider who does the back portion isn't as good. Her plaits were bigger and are much looser at the roots than the front.
***last edit: I took my braids out a couple of weeks ago and this is my overall opinion.
It was easy to make the appointment and the ladies do work fast, but overall it just is NOT worth the 200 bucks for me. I see the other reviews and maybe they had other braiders, but my experience wasn't smooth, nor pleasant. The front braider did a good job, but while taking out the back braids, my hair was super matted and had strands from several braids mixed into other braids, as if she purposely mixed my hair into the weave making it difficult to remove and detangling the back was more difficult than the front and caused breakage (trust me, im natural and take good care of my coils). If she wasn't on her phone the whole 3 hours clicking and cackling in my ear, she could have done a better job.
I will not be returning and I do not recommend this business to the the next customer, unless you are pressed and need a quick fix. We are our own worse enemy
I got my hair done a month and a half ago and it still looks fresh. The ladies in the shop did a good job with my braids. I’d definitely recommend. The only downside is there can be a long wait at times seeing as though it’s a hair salon, I’d try and get there early even if you book an appointment. That’s the only negative. Other than that I got plenty of compliments on my braids and I still am getting them til this day.
I love this African hair braiding studio. I've been here three times and I'm always satisfied with the service I receive. The owner is very friendly and professional. This is the only African hair salon I come to in Savannah. I highly recommend them.
