Quick Facts About Lakewood Neighborhood Park
Lakewood Neighborhood Park has several strengths that make it a great place for families and recreation. Firstly, the park is well-maintained and clean, offering a pleasant environment for visitors. The recent upgrades to the playground, such as the addition of a padded rubber surface, make it safer for children to play on. The park also provides a variety of amenities, including tennis courts, basketball courts, a baseball field, and a sand volleyball court, catering to different interests and age groups. The presence of well-lit facilities allows for extended playtime even after dark.
One of the park's unique features is the short walking path with body weight exercise installations. This adds an element of fitness and fun for both children and adults, as they can test their strength and engage in physical activity.
The park's location in the middle of Lakewood is a significant advantage, offering convenience to residents who live in the area. The small size of the playground is suitable for young children, and it includes baby and kid swings, ensuring that even the youngest visitors can enjoy the park. For older children, the park offers more expansive options, allowing them to participate in activities like full-sized basketball, sand volleyball, and tennis, catering to a wide range of recreational interests.
However, the park does have some notable weaknesses that need to be addressed. The main issue is the limited access to the bathroom facilities. Currently, the bathrooms are only opened during events, which can be a significant inconvenience for visitors, especially those with young children who may need to use them more frequently. This issue has been highlighted by multiple visitors who have expressed their frustration at the constant lack of access to bathrooms, which often forces them to cut their park visit short. This is a problem that should be urgently addressed by park management to ensure a more positive experience for visitors.
In addition to the bathroom issue, one reviewer noted a concern about a nearby basketball court with offensive language. While this may be an isolated incident, it is crucial for park management to be aware of and address any inappropriate behavior or language that may negatively impact the experience of families and small children visiting the playground area. Maintaining a family-friendly atmosphere should be a priority for the park.
Despite these weaknesses, Lakewood Neighborhood Park remains a great place to bring children. Its range of amenities, including the playground, basketball court, tennis courts, and baseball field, offer ample opportunities for recreational activities. Furthermore, the presence of covered picnic spots and parking facilities make it an ideal spot for families to spend a day outdoors.
In conclusion, Lakewood Neighborhood Park has several strengths that make it a great place for families and recreation. The park's cleanliness, recent upgrades, and variety of amenities provide a pleasant and enjoyable experience for visitors. However, the limited access to bathroom facilities and the potential for inappropriate language in the vicinity of the playground area are significant weaknesses that need to be addressed by park management. Overall, with the necessary improvements, Lakewood Neighborhood Park has the potential to become an even more popular and beloved community space.

I grew up by this park, and spent a few of my summers here as a kid at Summer Camp programs. My kids now play here and short of a few improvements not much has changed.
The bathrooms are only opened during events, and the water fountains and soda machines are gone.
Old Lakewood Park- Park ???? it's great, they have recently upgraded the playground, painted all the picnic tables and benches. Now have fitness equipment along the fitness trail! ???? The playground is now on a padded rubber surface.
Tennis Courts, Basketball Courts, Baseball Field.
Beautiful park with Big tennis courts, basketball court all fenced in. Baseball field and playground.
Right in the middle of Lakewood park, which is obviously convenient. Even though the playground is small, it's plenty for small children, including baby and kid swings.
For older children, things open way up. Full sized basketball court, sand volleyball, baseball field and three tennis courts. All of which are well lit after dark.
A neat feature is a short walking path with various body weight exercise installations with instructions on how to use them. My kids get a kick out of testing their strength on these.
Only real downside is the apparent randomness of access to the (well kept) bathroom facilities.
The park was beautiful and we'll maintained. The problem that will keep me from going back again is the R rated basketball court right next to the children's play area. I don't think we went more than 2 mins without hear the F word and I have a 2 year old who I try to keep away from that language.
It’s a nice and clean park,But the bathrooms are always locked and I do mean ALWAYS. My child can’t even enjoy the park because as soon as she have to use the bathrooms, we got to rush back home.So they really need to do something about this ASAP.
It's a great park. I'm right down the road so I'm partial to it. Just wish the bathrooms would be open. A trail with workout areas, tennis, baseball with small bleachers, volleyball, basketball, playground, parking, and covered picnic spots. Also Pokemon/Wizard gameplay.
Great place to bring the kids
